Employees are friendly. I really appreciate that. Only major issue I had with them was with my brake replacement last year. During the replacement, they had difficulty with the front brakes when they test drove the car afterwards, and had to make an adjustment before giving me back the car. Once I got it back, I realized it took longer to get the car to come to a full stop, and it seemed to worsen the more I used the brakes. I checked the brake fluid levels, and noticed they were actually low! I figured there must be a leak in the system or something. I called Sears, and after they apologized, they told me to bring the car in so they could take a look. I managed to get the car back safely to Sears. They looked it over, and found out the mechanic that did the brake replacement didnt want to over tighten (and potentially "break") the crush washers. But they are designed to be tightened like that - thats why they are called "crush" washers! So the lines were not sealed tightly enough that every time I applied the brakes, I was leaking out brake fluid. The manager on duty when I came back got it all fixed, though. I actually wasnt angry about the incident. I figured it was just a simple mistake. I know Ive made a few over the years. No major harm was done, the car definitely seemed to stop better, and the brake fluid reservoir stayed full once the manager fixed the issue. Now a little over a year and I am taking my car in for an inspection at another place. They are saying my front brakes are worn down enough that they need replacing before my car can pass the safety inspection, and they even explained they noticed the front brakes were under-sized for my car! I thought not tightening down the crush bolts was just a rookie mistake from a new mechanic, but using undersized brakes? Im sorry, thats a bigger issue. And I mainly drive in-town...I drive so few miles in a year that my car is consistently exempt from emissions, and the brakes wear out in a little over a year? Its tough to admit, since the staff always seems so nice, but I may seriously need to rethink taking either of my vehicles to Hanovers Sears Automotive again.
