Simply Clean with Emily

Very disappointed with our experience with SBA.Was told that our car was in pristine condition, and that there was nothing that needed to be done with it.Was also told that we would leave the lot with a 30 day warranty.We chose not to purchase an extended warranty. Within 1 week, it felt as though something was "slipping" or "tripping" while accelerating.We called Steve Rettew and let him know what was going on. He offered to pay for a diagnostics test(it was free)The timing belt was cracked, all spark plugs were filled with oil, gasket leak, fuel pump needed to be replaced, and a few other things that needed to be replaced. Quote to fix was just over $1200. One of the conversations that I had with him, he told me that if I "wanted to talk lawyer talk, I didnt sign a 30 day warranty." In fact, I did not. But I did trust his word.He did pay $203.00 which we were thankful for.BUY LOCAL, TAKE A TRUSTED MECHANIC WITH YOU WHEN BUYING A USED CAR, AND GET EVERYTHING IN WRITING!!!!!!

My boyfriend bought a car from Steve and he was a "family friend" of his so he ensured him that he could trust him. 2 days after buying the vehicle the check engine light came on. He called Steve right away, Steve only wanted to help if his mechanic could do the work. After he screwed him to begin with my boyfriend refused and had his mechanic look it over. It needed 4 new spark plugs, a new cat converter, new coil pack, only 3/4 pistons were firing and the dipstick was broken - he couldnt even get his oil changed! The only way Steve would do anything was after my boyfriend had the BBB contact Steve. Dont trust anything these people say! I know other people that bought cars from him and they also had numerous problems. This man should never be allowed to sell cars. STAY AWAY!! Tell your friends to stay away as well. Dont buy anything from him!! Ever!

At first I felt good about giving my business to local guy who seemed trustworthy. But when I went to make arrangements to pick up the car, Steve Retew went back on his word and refused to have the car professionally cleaned as promised and told me it wouldnt be ready for another week if I was going to insist on it. I am usually a "buyer beware" person and when someone promises something, they should deliver. This guy felt like he could take advantage of me because he knew my car broke down and I needed one fast.

Excellent customer service from the moment we pulled in to check out the vehicle to the moment we drove away with our new-to-us VW! Steve Rettew answered all our questions with years of knowledge and friendly honesty. He is definitely not what you think of when you think of a used car salesman in any way whatsoever.
