My husbands experience: This evening I went to the Safeway by my house on Q Street in Springfield Oregon to recycle some bottles and cans and pick up some items. The machines had an issue so I went to an employee and asked for help. She said she needed to get more bags and left. She never returned or gave me an update. I then went to the customer service desk. They paged carl who said while I was standing there, he had to get carts "Theyll have to wait". Referring to me. At first I was patient and waited. It occurred to me I had been waiting a while so I checked my receipt. I had been waiting an hour! I went back to the customer service and asked for a bottle count because I had been waiting so long. They said, "They cant do that" and I would have to wait longer. At this point I asked to speak to the manager. He told me he was busy, my problem wasnt a priority and I would have to wait. I let him know that if I walked out the door I would never walk back into another Safeway again. He didnt seem concerned with this at all. So, I went one last time to the customer service desk to cash in the small amount of bottles I did have a receipt for. I then took my bottles to Winco, cashed them in in 5 minutes picked up the items I needed and left. I told the manager of this Safeway I will never step into another safeway again and this is true. Being told multiple times to wait, that I wasnt a priority and I cant do that is beyond bad customer service. Be it bad management at this Safeway or a general policy towards the treatment of people it doesnt matter. Beyond this terrible experience this Safeway is probably the worst one around. They dont stock items very well and their produce is awful. Save your self the trouble and go to MoC or Winco.

I shop and return bottles and cans here because its extremely close to my house. Its a typical Safeway with high prices and all that, but its a matter of convenience and I generally have a good experience whenever I shop here. However, lately (as with many other people) the bottle deposit has gone up in this state, so I go here to do my returns. Theres only two machines, which is fine, but a lot of people that Ive seen there numerous times always break them down, which makes the dude that has to deal with it extremely unpleasant. I completely and utterly understand his frustration (I dont recall his name, just an almost bald guy that always wears sunglasses) but me being a regular here, I do everything in my power to make sure I dont make anyones job harder than it already is, I always try to be polite and thank anyone that assists out there, but even with his frustration with people out there (again, I dont blame him in the least) still makes it awkward and uncomfortable when hes going off about the job and cant wait to get rid of the return machines because people suck, and its understandable because people can be really stupid with those things, however, its off putting especially when Im being lumped with the people who actually dont care when Im actually very conscious back there. I think Ill go elsewhere from now on for bottle deposits but the rest of the store, its alright.

This is probably the worst Safeway I have ever been to. I have purchased BBQ sauce and chicken broth that were both unsealed and had to be thrown away. I bought some doughnuts in the $5 plastic container, they were made with spoiled milk. I did obtain a refund for that with no hassle but I still had taken a bite out of a doughnut (as well as my family) and almost puked. The dessert section didnt have a proper description on their $5 deals and I had assumed everything was $5 because there was no indication of a specific dessert. Also I have bought the Kale in the $5 plastic container two separate times and within a day its slimy and rotten before the expiration date. And for the last thing, their bottle return area is disgusting, they never clean it up and they have a broken call system.

Good Safeway, up to standard; not the biggest, doesnt sell day-old bakery goods (does still have clearance section). They dont have their hours posted--didnt even have then up before the manic lady ram-raided their door, but they close at 0100. Night manager will gently chide you if you bring reusable bags and hes on the till, citing their status as a fomite. Honestly, thats pretty legit, and why I use the washable kind. Hell still bag your stuff; youre just getting an editorial. I only go here late at night; the couple times Ive been in the daytime, it was at normal capacity for a daytime supermarket, i.e. packed.

If I could give you zero stars, I would. At 7:50am, you have one checker. ONE. The line is down the isle, and nobody calls for another checker. I asked the person at customer service to call for one. Nothing. Why do you not have self check out???? This is not the only time either that I have been in your store, and there is one checker. I put my items back and left. I will not be in your store again. Fred Meyer is down the road, and they have self check out and plenty of checkers to help. I want to go into a store, get my stuff, and check out. I dont have time to wait 10 minutes in a long line.

Next time youre in uniform buying your beer instead of looking at my purchases and staring up at the 15 items or less sign you can open your god damn eyes, there was malnourished woman sitting in a cart infront of me I just got her out of an app where they stated she could die in the surgery, but yes lets focus on the fact that I didnt see the sign and you had to be a prick, being a decent human must be above you. So maybe you should take in other people rather than 18 pack Budweiser at the end of your shift...

Love this store! Very helpful staff, see the same faces every time so it appears they enjoy it there as well. Very good selection (they even have shoe care products). To all those saying go to Fred Meyers - have you seen their deli? Its disgusting compared to Safeway! Their bakery is better I wont deny that, but club card savings are much more plentiful at Safeway.

I do not know about the rest of the Safeways with Starbucks in them, but the one on 2nd and Q in Springfield keeps the TIPS from the jar and the employee sees none of it. I received this information from a person whom works at the Starbucks.

Managers, Patrick and Randy were very rude. Horrible customer service. I had an exchange and I was told flat out no because I had no receipt. Didnt even care what it was or how much it was. Will not be returning to this store.

Love selection and service. In the evening there are not enough cashiers. Parking is good, they have Starbucks and red box. Us bank is gone. Customer service is good.
