I had a terrible experience using in-store pick up. Luckily, I didnt need my teaching supplies immediately, but I selected this option only to save wrapping/shipping energy usage. My order went through, but apparently it didnt have the security number on the back (how do you process a CC without that? How did the order go through without that?). I showed up at the store an hour later, waited while they tried to find the order, and then was told I would have to contact the company. An online chat led to a phone call, during which I only needed to provide the 3 numbers on the back (again, how did the order process without that????), but at this point some of the items are no longer available at the store where I did pick-up and I had to reorder (during which the associate said things like, Im sorry, the store no longer has item #1859214. Okay, great, I have no idea what that means, can you tell me what it is that I now have to reorder in your oh-so-convenient in-store pick up? Markers? Thanks.) So, three days later, my order that should have been ready in an hour will be ready in an hour, Im not sure if the donation from the order will be going to my school, and even though I spent $350 my rewards account says Ive spent $0. All of these online services are incredibly clunky and antiquated, and there are much better options available. Time to switch to amazon -- I was already finding a lot of better deals there, anyway. I just didnt want so much cardboard packaging.

I came in here on black friday to get a computer. This was by far one of my most irritating experiences getting a computer. First thing the computer I was sold was defective. On the second day it repeatedly crashed and I had to exchange it for a new one. However that really isnt the thing that annoyed my about this place. What annoyed me was your failure to understand that I do not want the overpriced anti-virus you are selling or the "performance package" which doesnt even cover virus removal. I came in the first time expecting this sales pitch, but when I went in the second time to make the exchange I was once again pressured into buying them. As if Im going to give the people who sold me a lemon more money. If I do decide to buy an extended warranty I think Ill buy the manufacturers extended warranty. Your "customer service specialists" were most unhelpful when I went in to make the exchange for the replacement. It took way longer than it should have to make the exchange, and your employees were unfamiliar with how to even make an exchange. Lastly your employees could learn to smile. They were all smiling when I was first buying the computer, but the next day when I came in for the exchange oh how their personalities had changed. No smiling and not even a single apology that I had to deal with a defective computer.

I agree with the previous review. Do NOT patronize them. I researched flash drives for a project which I have a deadline for, and found this store to have them in stock. I took the time to make several calls, spoke with the downtown store, they said they had them but to go to MLK store for more quantity to assure I would get the full 30 I needed. They quoted a price. I got to MLK and they actually would not sell me the Flash Drives due to several additional restrictions having to do with some sort of sale and quantity. Additionally, besides being delayed by the confusion between salesperson and manager, they lost the order they had set aside, and would not honor the phone call info. Poor choice on their part. Second guessing the customer is Rule No.1 in good customer service. It is disrespectful, and basically calls the customers integrity under question. These chains are getting so big, that it is difficult to do anything about it. But the amount of time I wasted, when Im working on a deadline and had done my homework, really set me back. I ended up having to go to the downtown store because of the new limit in quantity requirements, and still have to go out to buy 10 more today. What a stupid waste of my time.

I frequent this location simply because there are a few clients I have near there. While Ive never had an issue with finding exactly the right item at the right price, today was a disappointment. Its Portland. It rains. Pardon me for not being in a suit. I was wearing denim a hoodie (with the hood down, mind you) and I had to pick up a 4-port switch for an issue I was having. Found the item I needed, compared a few, and went to pay. Now, the front-doors of this dingy-yellow-tinted store are right next to their cash wrap and a snaking aisle with impulse goods. I was walking toward the registers when I hear a "Hey!" from behind me. I turn to see a lanky Associate staring me down. I turned my head to him and he scurried away, but still watching me. At the risk of sounding paranoid, Ive worked retail before, and I know that look; its the "Im waiting for you to steal," look. Never once was I asked if I needed help, never once was I asked if I had any questions; but based upon my "look" on a dreary Sunday, If youre going to play "Loss Prevention," make sure theres a suspicion, first. Otherwise, youre insulting. Looks like Ill be going across the river to SW Washingtons store instead.

I purchased an office chair from this Office Depot and paid them to remove it from the box and put it together. When I got home I noticed 1 of the wheels were broken. I went back to the store and they told me that they didnt have a replacement wheel even though there were several display models on the floor. They asked me to drive to another Office Depot. I went to the downtown location and the manager there apologized and took a wheel off one of the display models and gave it to me on the spot. He wasnt sure why the SE location did not do the same thing. About 1 month later the chairs telescoping feature broke and it continuously sinks during the day and I have to keep raising it back up. I call the Office Depot in SE and they tell me they will fix it if I pay $20 for a replacement warranty. I tell them I just purchased the chair 30 days ago and I dont want an additional warranty. The manager said he couldnt help me. I called Office Depots 1-800 number and they sent me out a replacement part right away to fix the problem. I would never return to this location, however the downtown location was very easy to deal with as was the 1-800 Office Depot number.

I ordered a desk and hutch in dec that was to be delivered about a week later. So on the day it was supposed to be delivered we cleared our schedules and moved everything out of our office. 2 hours before it was supposed to be there they called and said sorry we cant deliver today because someone else with a bigger order scheduled for today so now we dont have time to drop your order off. That was frustrating enough but when we finally got the delivery there were broken pieces. Today, feb 20, around 2 months later I am still waiting for my replacement pieces. So here I am waiting with no office or patience for my pieces. Do yourself a favor and dont waste your time and money with this business. I will never buy from them again. The only reason I havent just asked for a refund is because I have the desk that the hutch goes with and havent found another one I like.
