I have loved this place since i was a 2nd grader begging my mommy to take me here to buy a little square of fuzzy puppy stickers. Do people still like those stickers on tear-off rolls? Theyre a delightful relic. I wouldnt recommend Gables for common items, unless you just want to support a great local business. Clearly, items like steno pads and boxes of envelopes are cheaper at Longs/Office Depot, etc. But here, they have unusual things like a whole mini-drawer full of all-differently sized fountain pen converters! Who says the employees arent friendly? No, they dont have nauseating fake smiles plastered on their faces, nor to they follow you around the store offering help (thank goodness), but theyre helpful in a way that counts. One girl let me dig through the drawer of fountain pen converters at my leisure, trying to fit them one by one into my fountain pen which I was told that no converter existed for. And I found one. Magical. They also have a glass cabinet of locally handmade jewelry. And white out in different pastel colors. They have wax seals and a constantly changing selection of novelties like wind up toys and palm sized music boxes. The last time I went, there was a pet bird singing from a cage behind the counter. Gables is like a dusty shop from Harry Potters world. Most people dont notice it, but its pure magic.

This neighborhood stationary store is not only a great place to find the hard to find items that you likely wouldnt have in big box stores, but also carries some of the cutest toys and trinkets one could find anywhere. They always have a huge selection of greeting cards and gift wrapping items (specialty papers, bows, ribbons, stickers, etc.), They have unique writing instruments, books, hand crafted jewelry and an assortment of great gift items for young and old alike. The staff is always so friendly and helpful in suggesting ideas for last minute gifts.

I live in the neighborhood and came in with a friend simply looking to pick up some envelopes. We ended up spending a half hour in the store! They have EVERYTHING- from practical supplies like envelopes, printing paper, folders, binders, poster board, pens, etc to the fun and unexpected: pirate (toy) guns, party supplies, key chains, card games, wall accessories, mugs...the list goes on and on! The people working there are extremely nice and helpful, prices are reasonable. Forget Staples or Office Max (boring!), come here instead!

Great neighborhood stationery store 2 doors down from the local US Post Office on Geary Blvd. Ive been getting small quantities of shipping supplies like padded manila envelopes and bubble wrap from Gables. When Im visiting SF for work, Id rather shop for office supplies for the moment here because of the convenient location and the fact that I dont have to buy in bulk like at Office Depot or Office Max. Staff are nice and they also carry Crane stationery, greeting cards, and knick knacks.

Not only is this the go to store for any greeting card or wrapping paper requirements. They also have a full compliment of office supplies, including odd ball office supplies you wont find any where else. They also carry quite a number of gift items, books, soaps, lotion, novelties, jewelry, and other various accessories. The folks behind the counter are always happy to help, even if they point you elsewhere to find the item you are looking for.

I love this place to death. Its charming; its well stocked, the people are very friendly and its local. I love to shop here; as does Mrs Long Suffering. This is exactly the sort of place that WalMart destroys.
