Were those positive reviews written by friends of someone works there? That wasn’t my experience at all! I brought a non-working old moped I’ve got from a friend to their shop and asked them to take a look at it to see if it can be fixed. I told them I know very little about moped myself. They seemed nice initially and told me it usually costs $150 to fix moped like that. After two weeks, nothing happened, I followed up, they told it needs a new battery. I searched the internet, found the battery, mail ordered it and brought it to the store, and they told me they started cleaning some parts, and the moped didn’t have a gas tank. They re-wired and hooked it directly to a plastic container with some gas in it, but something still missing and they don’t know what it was because the moped can start but can only go 23 mile per hour (someone else told me later that it’s supposed to be at least 32-40) and can only be operated when it’s cool. I researched the internet and tried to find a replacement tank, in the process, I came across some other parts people mentioned in forum that I might need, I printed out the information and brought it to the store, and they said ‘ yes, we’ll need that part too’. By that time, I started feeling that they don’t really know what’s wrong with the moped (when the owner’s manual for the moped is available on the internet for free, if they can just look it up) and they expected me (someone knows nothing about a moped) to find out what’s wrong with it, ordered all the parts just so they can charge me $75 an hour to put them on (they charged two hours for cleaning carb in the work order?). A few weeks past and I couldn’t find the replacement tank, they started calling me and said they are going to charge the storage of the moped if I don’t pick it up. I stopped by the store to pick it up, and they wanted to charge me the full $150 for ‘fixing’ it, they showed me it’s ‘working’ by starting it and circling it around their parking lot, even they had admitted earlier that it was not working properly with missing parts (which they could never tell me what they are), the oil was leaking, and the plastic can of gas was hanging loosely on the backseat, along with original cables and air filter they took apart but didn’t bother to put back where they belonged to. When I explained I should not pay the full amount for something not fixed properly, the owner got really nasty verbally and threaten to hold my moped and back charging me $10 a day for storage. I paid the full $150 and rode the bike home. It died after 1 and ½ miles. I called the store, left a message, and never heard back from them. Will you bring your bike to places like this? I’ll leave that to your discretion.

I heard rumors that the service here was poor so I read some reviews. They echoed each other but I went in anyway because its the only place I can find parts locally. Which is worse for me now that I wont be coming back. Although their prices were outrageous. Ill explain more below. Im new to the scooter world, and got a Kymco people 50 online that I was hoping a professional could look at and make me feel great about my new passion. The service was minimal and passive. I got a "Hey, do you need something," when I walked in and I explained what was up to just get a sigh, eye roll and a hurumph as he got out of his chair. Immediately he starts saying "Yeah thats like 100, thats like 300, those are like 800 all together," after just kind of talking generally about the things Id like to fix up. (I wasnt asking for any parts then anyway)We then went inside and he went right back behind the computer and thats all that interaction added up to. I said I would like buddy pegs for my scooter. They went in the back and found one. They wanted, Im not kidding, twice the price that I can order it online for and gave me scoff about being educated on my prices. It really sucks when the only place you can get what you need locally, is not a nice place to be. It really ruined my scooter experience today and made me wonder if this is what Ill get from everyone who rides. Thanks a lot..

I did not have a pleasant experience because the doors were locked in the middle of a Monday. Thank you for being closed on a weekday I would have never guessed. I had nothing better to do than push my scooter across town and back for nothing today. It is clear I should have checked the hours first but with all the hype about how big and cool this place was I would not have expected this lousy management. First the library closed on weekdays now the scooter store. What next the grocery store? The gas station? I went somewhere else and will not be back. Columbia Scooters lost the customer they never met because you close your doors when the public expects you to be open. Your competition was open and very glad you were closed. I am now happy too I got what I needed. Transportation cannot wait for days. I will warn people columbia scooters only pretends to be helpful. Any truly helpful vehicle parts and repair outfit would have the decency to be open on a weekday when they are needed. Especially Monday. CS management needs to rethink this as I cannot be the only one disgusted with the locked doors on Monday. Sincerely, MARY

My brother and I both own small Honda motorcycles. They both needed a tune up so, we emailed Columbia Scooters to set up an appointment for a tune up. Then, a few days before the appointment, we had to cancel and reschedule. We just sent them an email yesterday to reschedule and they responded that they typically dont reschedule appointments. We run a plumbing company here in Portland and have to reschedule appointments all the time. What kind of company doesnt reschedule appointments?? Do yourself a favor and use somebody else! These guys apparently dont need the business...

Will not do any business in future. Worst customer service. Asked them to do diagnostic to fined out whats wrong. They didnt do the diagnostic but instead changed the spark plug and changed the gas in the tank. It took them 3 weeks to do this. At the end started calling and saying that they are going to start charging for storage. I asked them if they found out what was wrong? They said that they have been calling mechanics and asking what could be wrong????? (I thought that they wore mechanics?) I found another shop that fixed the moped.

I really liked this place! I bought a Kymco scooter from them and the customer service was great. We stopped by just looking at scooters and Maura gave us tons of information to help us make a decision. I decided on the Kymco and went back to get it. Normally they need a day or so to get it all ready to go but since we were anxious and lived about 30 miles away Carter took the time to get it ready while we waited. The owner and the staff definitely make this a good place to scooter shop. I would definitely recommend it.
