I broke my glasses today, so I stopped by the optomitrist firm that was really happy to charge me $500 for the glasses last year. Nope, they could not be soldered, nor could the bow be replaced, nor could they fit the lenses in a new frame. They apparently did not want my business, so I walked out quite disappointed. When I got home, I Googled "eyeglass / repair / Portland" and found Aserix Eyewear. So I drove to the junction of Powell and Foster. The nice guy behind the counter was quite willing to replace one bow for $30 or both (so they would match) for $45 and it would take 15 minutes!!! I opted for replacement of both bows and was somewhat stunned that the work could actually be done while I waited. My goodness, these folks ACTUALLY WANTED MY BUSINESS and were willing to hustle for it. Friends, my eyeglasses were wonderfully repaired WHILE I WAITED and they are perfect. Not only that, my wife found a great pair of sunglasses that slip over her regular prescription glasses. The folks at Asterix Eyewear were so wonderfully willing to help me in my time of need ... and they made the $100 sale. Make no mistake about it, the next time I need anything in eyeglasses, my first stop will be Asterix Eyewear. These are wonderful folks who hussle for the sale and do excellent work. Congratulations guys, you have my business forever. Steve

Hello, I have shades that were bough from you and are under warranty. I call every 3 weeks or so, but nowone ever calls me back. they are the tags. you know the ones and I am pretty sure you know who I am. I am going to report to the better business bureau. see the google post. Absolutely the worst customer service I have ever received. There are 2 guys here. One guy is super polite and continues to say that the owner will call me back to replace my shades which are under warranty. Now, nearly 6 months later, the owner still hasnt called me back. I think the owner intentionally puts the phone work off on the nice guy in order to put people off. They broke in July, its december. I call every 3 weeks or so and have been in multiple times. Its always put off as its a manufacturing issue. I support local businesses, I seek them out, but this place SUCKS!

Go away from all the sheisty optometrist places who apparently dont have any qualms about lying to your face & telling you, "Oh, they dont make those frames anymore. Youre going to have to get new lenses made & get new frames. Itll run a little over $600 for everything." Go to this place on Foster & Powell!!! I walked into Asterix with my frames barely holding together at the bridge after I attempted to epoxy them together, to see if they could re-glue them, and the very nice young woman at the counter said she could probably locate some similar frames that they could put my newish expensive lenses into. WOW!!! Please support these great people. And while youre there, drop into the picture frame and quality discount art supply store 2 doors down. They are equally friendly and helpful.

I broke an arm off a pair of new glasses when I slept on top of them in bed. My eye drs office referred me to Asterix. Pros: - $45 for the repair - Called me when the repair was completed - Relatively short turn around time (2 days) Cons: - Damaged my frame and arm while repairing my glasses. Then they accused me of attempting an at-home repair which I most certainly did not do. They said I caused the damage with my at-home repair. - Wouldnt apologize or admit to causing the damage. - Store looks rundown. They put the same attention to details into their repairs as they do the interior design of the store. - Low quality workmanship. Go here if you have a pair of cheap glasses that you just need to see out of. Dont take frames you love and spent good money on here.

My dogs mistakenly took my prescription glasses for a bone and chewed them all up. The sides that go behind your ears were mere metal spikes after this conundrum although the lenses and frame were still in great shape. I googled eyeglass repair for Giorgio Armani glasses and got some company down in Southern California...Wasnt going to do it. Then I remembered that there was an eyeglass repair store in the neighborhood so I dropped by one morning to see if they could fixem up and what the damage would be. Low and behold, they could replace the damaged parts right then , while I waited, and it only cost me $42 and 20 minutes of my time. Awesome!!!!! Will definitely go back and be recommending this place to others.

The people here are extremely nice. And their process for fixing glasses is apparently very professional. But they charge 45 to fix glasses as a base price and told me it would take 2 days to fix them. I cant be without glasses for that long so I had to look for an alternative. I was looking for a quick fix. I took my glasses to Crown Optical and they fixed them in 10 minutes for 10 dollars. Check out Crown Optical if you need a quick fix and cant be without your glasses for multiple days. Very nice people over there and they give you an exceptional price. If Asterix offered a quick fix, I would have taken that in an instant.

I called before I went in to see if my glasses could be repaired and get an estimate for the repair, the bridge snapped on my glasses and I was told it would be overnight repair and between $45-$55. I went before work and was told they would replace the bridge, and it would be $85, needing my glasses I did it and they had them fixed in 6 minutes. Friendly service, and very fast, only complaints are that it went from $45-$55 overnight repair, to $85 for a 6 minute repair, I cant help but feel I got played a bit, but they got the job done.

I took my glasses to these people and they overcharged me for a terrible job. The glasses fell apart again a few weeks later except now one arm is shorter then the other and their is a screw scraping my face because they "repaired" them by cutting one arm shorter then the other and then used a screw to small for the hole THEY MADE to screw into. It is my fault for trusting hipsters with hand tools. I am sending my glasses to California for repair at a repair shop down there that does excellent work from before I moved to Portland.

Not only did they have the EXACT frames I had been searching everywhere for, they gave me a discount for being a return customer AND they remembered my name and where I worked after not coming in for like 6 months. Thank you! The only thing I wish you would/could improve on (which may not even be a reasonable request) is that frames could come in faster. I do understand that frames come from Italy sometimes, and it may not even be a possibility. Thank you anyway!

I have purchased several items from this store. I started with a pair of sunglasses from them & the service was so great Ive gone back time and time again! I now own several pairs of sunglasses and eyeglasses from this store. Great product selection and wonderful customer service. Anytime I have visited or called the store the owner and staff have been very helpful. I would highly recommend Asterix Eyewear to anyone!
