Dr. Lawson and Golden Optical have more than earned my loyalty. Theyve always provided me with great care and convenience. When I thought about switching to an office that was closer to my house, I couldnt get an appointment for weeks at other places, but G.O saw me within 24 hours. (Really appreciated because I was almost out of contacts and overdue for my yearly exam!!) They made sure that I had my exam done and spare contacts in hand within a day. When I had a weird eye infection, they got me into the office the same-day. When I lost some contact lenses and had a few come out of the package defective, they gave me replacements at no charge. Theyre as focused as I am on making sure my out-of-pocket expense is as minimal as possible. Most importantly, Dr.Lawson has provided me with great care and I trust his consult when it comes to the cost and benefit analysis of any aspect of eye health. He always takes the time to talk things through with me and answer any questions I might have, I never feel rushed. He also introduced me to a new, more cost-efficient lens type that saved me a lot of money in the long run. Long story short: youre in good hands.

The staff immediately greeted me when I walked in. They asked how I was doing and made me feel comfortable. The OD Tech who took the eye photos and pressure readings was professional, efficient and friendly, and enthusiastically addressed my questions. The Doctor took the time to answer my questions about eye health and asked questions back, to gain greater understanding of how to optimize my vision when I am at work looking at multiple computer monitors. The front office staff was not pushy at all regarding purhcase of lenses and frames. They provided several options, and several sale items, over 50% off, and had a detailed knowledge about the design, strengths and weaknesses of the various frames, as well as the pros vs. cons of different lense materials, and how they connect to the frame. I have been going here since 2005 and have consistent excellent experience.

I wont be going back here. It started great with a prompt exam (2 stars), but after that the doctor took a very long time to do something that other optometrists usually do in 10-15 minutes. I think I was in the room for over an hour - he wouldnt stop talking. Then when I went outside, the salesperson was very pushy. I described the frame that I was looking for and although they did not have it, he kept trying to push things that were not close. Just a mediocre selection of out-of-date overpriced designs.They did give me my prescription so that I could go to Warby Parker and get a great design at a much better price, but they dragged their feet when I asked for it. I know this sounds like a lot of whining, but in a market this competitive, there is no reason to waste your time here.

Ive been using Golden Optical for many years, and when Dr. Lawson took over, it only improved. I have found staff and Dr. Lawson to be very friendly and accommodating. They are ready for my appointments, which take only the time needed to give me great service. Dr. Lawson is very "present" during my appointments and gives thorough answers for my questions. He shows me detailed pictures of my retinas which would show any problems in my eye if I had them. Staff are very nice and they have a great process for helping customers pick out frames they will love. They have lots of wonderful, stylish (and durable) glasses frames from which to choose. I heartily recommend Golden Optical!

They have new equipment to assist in measuring your vision and examining your retinas and the optometrist was very skillful. My new glasses provide a very noticeable improvement. One thing they could add: use a fill-in form on a tablet computer so the person who is simultaneously helping try different frames and tallying the costs will be sure to get all the features you wanted (e.g., anti-glare coating and polishing the sides of the lenses), and get the computation of the total cost right. This can be then shown to the customer who will know the total cost and check for any omissions before approving the order.

The optometrist himself was very pleasant and helpful, but the person I initially spoke to on the phone gave me misleading information about pricing and the staff were not helpful when I was actually in the office. My main complaint is when the trial pair of contacts they said they would order did not arrive in the 2-3 week window they had quoted, they did not contact or communicate with me. I waited over a month to call them to ask about the status and found out that they had "no idea" when they would arrive. I went here because it was close to my work but in the future I will find somewhere more reliable.

I have gone here for years because the eye exams are the best using the best latest technology. The doctor is great, very personable and caring and as for him he gets top marks. I just wish the sales staff were friendlier, or even pleasant. I agree with all the other entries about unpleasantness. I cant say it has ever been pleasant. I started here because it was close to me, just a few blocks away, and endure the staff because I know the exam and Doc are top notch, but I have been getting my frames at a vintage place nearby, who now offer exams, so am thinking of switching entirely.

I have to say that I expected more from this shop, but was somewhat disappointed. I purchased 2 pairs of glasses in January of 2008. One pair broke within 3 months, but I could not have them fixed or replaced as they had been discontinued. I am still wearing the second pair, but the paint is chipping around the rim, which looks horrible. I did no expect to replace two pairs of glases in less than a year. I will not got back in the future.

Great eye Doctor. He explains everything and is not in a rush to get you to buy the most expensive pair of contacts. Very bad eye allergies and he is giving me a range of brands to try. He was recommended to me buy my boss. Was skeptical with it being downtown, thinking swanky, etc... Its not. Love them and the fact I can swing by for an appointment on my lunch or grab contacts on a break is awesome.

The folks at Golden Optical were great! Everyone was really friendly and very helpful. I had some questions about my insurance, and Jenee at the front desk was great about calling my provider and getting all the answers I needed quickly. Jessica, the lead optician, helped me decide on the perfect frames for me because I just couldnt pick. Fast, friendly, and professional.

Been going here for 3 years, and Dr. Schmitt is awesome! **update 12/2013** Again, I love this place. Jessica is so helpful and amazing, and the doctors here are thorough and courteous. Been going here for 6 years, now.

Had lost a contact and needed a replacement. I called them up and gave them my prescription and they gave me a couple at no cost! Really saved me from a jam of needing to go home to get my contacts/glasses. I havent been a customer previously but will be going forward
