OK. I admit it, Im very picky about glasses. For the past 5 years Ive been wearing glasses from Silver Linings in NYC. They set a very high standard. I wear progressive lenses and Slver Linings advised me to use the finest Japanese progressives. I was delighted and later discovered when I tried to get a pair of glasses from Lenscrafters, that cheaper progressive lenses simply cant match the performance of the lenses Silver Linings sold me. So, now I live in Portland Oregon. So I consult the internet for the best optometrist and come up with Blink. So, why do I think you should be warned? Not because of the doctor, the eye examination was conclusive. Ive had plenty of eye exams in the past, where you werent quite sure if they really got it right. This doctor gets it right, and its convenient to have a doctor in the store. Silver Linings cant do that. The problem is that the sales staff is smarmy and deceptive. I had read Yelp reviews before I went that mentioned the prices, so I asked for a quote on lenses for existing frames. The salesman went over my needs (finest Japanese progressives- Seiko, scratch resistant coating etc.) and quoted a price. I asked if this was all the best they could do. He said yes, it was the best. I said Id like to think about it and compare prices. I returned the next day (without shopping anywhere else - I liked the doctor after all), and said Id like to buy the lenses. Well, the smarmyness index went over the top, I was asked if Id like an iced tea? No, Id like to order the new lenses, I replied. Then he started asking if Id like improved scratch resistance, plastic types etc. I said that he had already quoted all that yesterday, and he replied, well this is an improvement over that. Then why, I asked, did he tell me yesterday before I was to go shopping that hed quoted the best? He said he was sorry, then he smiled in the most infuriating way. I think he knew I wasnt going to go for it, so he wanted to save face. I said, that was a lie yesterday wasnt it? He said, Im sorry you feel like that, and smiled again. Well, maybe you like smarmy salespeople like that. If you do, youll have a great time at Blink...

This place is AWESOME! First off, they are incredibly warm and welcoming. I was offered tea and iced coffee (I went in the summer) every time I went in, even if it was just to pick up my contacts real fast. Their eyeglass selection is the coolest Ive ever seen, and if I were not so cheap I would most certainly have gotten glasses as well. My exam was so incredibly fast that I thought Id blinked and missed it. haha, ok, bad pun. I need toric lenses which, those of you that have them know, can take several visits to get the right prescription. Along with that, most places charge extra for the added visits it takes. Blink however does not penalize us for this and the eye exam charge was less then anywhere Ive seen - torics or not. They have such up to date technology that it only took tweaking once! They helped me pick out a brand of contacts which happen to have a mail in rebate. When the contacts came in they handed me an envelope all ready with postage, mailing address and receipt inside just waiting for me to throw in a couple box tops and send away. I couldnt believe the service! And now today, as if they havent been great enough, I call in for my tax receipt. "No problem, can you verify that we have your correct email address?" BOOM pdf in my inbox ready to print. Dont waste your time or money anywhere else.

Recently, my friend and I took a vacation to Portland, OR. On our first morning there, I woke up with severe pain in my eyes. It was so bad that I could barely open them. Not only was I worried about my vision, but I also did not want to ruin our short visit to the city with doctors appointments and long wait times. I stumbled across Dr. Armstrong and Blink via Google maps and since it was within walking distance of where I was staying, I decided to give it a try. The Blink staff took such good care of me during my visit. Dr. Armstrong was able to diagnos my problems and perscribe me the right medication to get me on my way and enjoying my vacation. I followed up with appointments with him every day during my trip and we looked forward to the short visits with his staff. Everyone was so friendly! They took care of my eyes and also gave us great suggestions on where to go in the city! I cannot thank them enough! I highly recommend Blink for anyone looking for an optometrist!

I loved every part of my experience shopping here! I was there for about an hour and as a new glasses wearer who kind of hates going to the doctor, it was surprisingly fun! The staff is incredible (knowledgeable and honest about what works/doesnt work with your face), the space is really cool, the selection is wide-ranging, they really know what theyre talking about and they treat you like a rockstar from the moment you walk in. The exam is about twice what you would pay at a Lenscrafters and the frames range from $250-400s, but if you have insurance to cover it (or money to blow) it really is worth it. You know youre paying for the highest quality lenses, frames and service, and most/maybe all of their frames are locally made so thats cool too. 10/10 would Blink again!

I have had a really hard time getting lenses because of multiple eye problems since moving out here. A friend recommended this shop. I went in 2 years ago and explained the issues. The gentlemen in the showroom nailed it. The lenses were spot on. They understood I only have 1 good eye so im very sensitive to even the smallest lens issue. They are so nice and fun! I just went in recently and said have at and find me some new frames. 4 staff started pulling frames. It was a quiet day so I was spoiled. Im rocking my new frames right now. I have to see an ophthalmologist and am not happy with the one I have now. The optometrist at Blink came out and listened and then gave me some recommendations. I cant say enough good things about this shop.

At 23 I was shopping for my first pair of eyeglasses. Blink was the first shop I tried in Portland and I could not have been happier. I had two salespeople helping me and recommending frames. They even gave me some iced coffee while I looked around. I spent 30 minutes looking and finally settled on some new frames that they had just gotten in. They even worked directly with my insurance company! After picking out the frames I had to wait a week for the lenses to be cut. They said it would probably be after Labor day weekend. Well, they ended up getting in early and I had them on Friday. Two weeks later I got a thank you card in the mail from one of the Blink employees. The whole experience was so easy. I will definitely be back and recommend Blink to others.
