I have never even heard of anything like this before. I was a groomsmen in a wedding at the Railhouse Hall. I do not live in Norman so I have no biased for the success or failure of one business or another. Saturday, one of the bridesmaids showed up to pick up the bouquet and boutonnieres for the wedding. Newberry had no idea what she was talking about, so she left. The bride showed up to see what was going on and was told that the order had never been placed. This was not the case, The bride and groom had placed the order and paid in advance. The bride was obviously furious and overwhelmed and said to one of her bridesmaids on the phone, “I should have done this my f****** self” another employee who was not even assisting the bride told her that she needed to take her foul mouth outside. The bride then became irate, as to be expected, and words were exchanged on BOTH sides. The blonde employee then threatened to call the cops on the bride because she had cursed in front of a child that was at the shop. That is when we arrived. The bride was in her car in tears and one of the employees was trying to help her saying that they could throw something together but they did not have hydrangeas and we would have to provide them. I immediately called two other florists to get them Earls and Wrights (AMAZING STAFF!), which I thought that Newberry should have done since they dropped the ball. We were then told that the owner had to come up to the business to address the problem because none of the employees could refund the money or make something else. SO we had to wait on this lady to drive up from her house…. This was the day of the wedding at noon and the wedding started at 5:30! Also for some reason everything closes at noon in Norman. The owner said that because the bride had cussed in front of her daughter that she refused to help out at all and just refunded the money and also threatened to press charges again. I’m sorry but a. dont have your kids at your place of business (especially when you are not there taking care of them?!), b. it was the day of the brides wedding and you are saying you dont have the flowers. No help, the day of the wedding, she left everyone hanging. How can you do that to someone on her wedding day! I want to also say that Wrights florist made a bouquet for us free of charge and stayed late to do it. And Broadway florist in Moore made beautiful boutonnieres also for free of charge because they were so outraged at the story coming from Newberry. Again I dont live in Norman but I have never seen customer service so bad and awful. DO NOT GO HERE!

Richard designed the flowers last week for a large wedding here in Norman: 1) Bridal luncheon; 2) Rehearsal dinner that night; 3) the Wedding the following day and 4) Reception at the Embassy Hotel. The designs he created simply "made" each event, and each one was unique. The bridal luncheon used shades of white with one of the brides chosen bright colors represented with accents of hot pink roses amidst a sea of white - transforming the room at Legends into a billowy, romantic setting. The rehearsal dinner represented an edgier style, using the brides choice of vivid colors such as hot pink, orange and green. The large centerpiece designed for the center of the church had a more traditional look, using the bright colors and Richards contemporary flair, placing two tall, simple tropical spikes of greenery rising up and out of the arrangement -- like two graceful arms opening upward to the tall cathedral ceiling. The bridal bouquet, with its rounded shape, was studded with a row of bird of paradise, their spikes breaking the symmetry -- once again revealing a tropical edge. Back at the reception, some tables had tall voluminous arrangements, and scattered throughout were other tables with more contemporary design styles that were edgier, yet perfectly blended into the design scheme. The fragrance of the flowers filled the room and flashbulbs popped as guests photographed the flowers. Each arrangement sat on a hot pink satin drape, which cast a reflection from the dimmed overhead lights - serving to further illuminate the room, and making the flowers themselves appear to be secondary sources of light. Richard was clearly at his creative best at all these events -- styling just the right combination of tradition combined with tropicals, for an edgy twist. He made each event look different, yet tied together. The quality of the roses, hydrangeas, tulips, orchids, lillies, etc., was excellent - and the flowers aroma created a lasting impression. Richard, your design creativity and quality of your arrangements is exceeded only by the personal attention (and flawless execution) you put into designing each element for all 4 of these events. The arrangements are still beautiful and fragrant, and being enjoyed a week after the wedding. You should put more of your wedding and event work on your website to share with everyone. Thanks for putting your heart into the wedding of this wonderful couple. Jo & Ron B., Norman, OK

NO QUESTION THE BEST FLORIST IN NORMAN Design By Newberry Flowers & Gifts is a lot like dealing with any store or service who is the best in its class. The customer service may be spotty, in the sense that they may not go out of their way to make you feel special. However, they do give their undivided attention and care to the flowers you are purchasing which is all that matters to me. I do not want my florist to make me feel special I want my florist to make the recipient feel special, and a delivery from Design by Newberry will make anyone feel special. Although I personally do not think they are difficult to work with I would compare them to the soup nazi. They are artists! they do not have time for your vision, just trust in them and they will get the job done. Every time I use their services I am amazed because every time I think to myself those roses are the most beautiful roses Ive ever seen. So I wanted to write this review to respond to several other reviews that were critical of the service they received from Design, and let those of you know to ignore the remarks about how these people have been "mistreated" because at the end of the day, what youre really purchasing when you order flowers is a moment of undivided attention. Whether it is a moment that you hope will captivate your adorning loved one and remind them of the love and care you have for them, or to express your condolences or to extend praise to another. In either case Designs work will guarantee you an uninterrupted moment.

Richard saved the day for my sons prom! I had been working the week prior with another highly recommended florist in the area on obtaining miniature calla lilies for my sons boutonniere and his dates corsage. The day Im due to pick these up, Im told they would be unable to fullfill our agreement and offered a less suitable arrangment. In haste, I desperately called looking for somone else capable of rescueing me out of what seemed a hopeless situation. Richard not only had the calla lilies, he was able to create a gorgeous ensemble that day! They were nothing but professional with me. You can say what you want about any personality conflicts (even though I did not experience this) but the truth is, in the end your looking at the arrangement, not the staff. The pricing was comparable to the previous agreed florist, so considering I paid the same amount for a same day arrangement was quite refreshing. I will try to upload a picture of the corsage as it was cream callas on a silver braided wire band with black ribbon and gems galore; simply breath taking!
