I am approaching 50 in less than a half a year. I have gone to Great Northern Mall since I was a preschooler. A lot has changed between then and bow, and it has expanded way beyond what anyone would have imagined back in the heyday of malls in the late 70s and early 80s. A new state-of-the-art movie theater is opened here within the last few years. It replaces the one that was on the strip the closed down many years ago. The food court has been remodeled and even relocated a few times. Sadly, as is the case with every mall across the country, they are nowhere near 100 percent occupied as far as retail space. They do a good job of covering and masquerading unoccupied store fronts. I worked for a Babbages (video game and computer software store) many years ago here. It is now covered up, and nicely decorated where the store once was. Sadly, people download there games from Steam and the PlayStation Network now, so that is two less stores (Software Etc... Being the other) that did not survive the changing times, and took 2 dozen jobs with it. There is no shortage of culinary options both inside and outside the mall. Trust me when I tell you, it is hard to watch your waist line living so close to this place. Sadly, I had to take a star away. I was there right before Christmas, and it may as well have been February. No Christmas decorations at all. When I was young this place was decorated outside with wreaths on every lamp post, lights all over the place etc. In fairness, I did not go inside the mall, so I do not know what they did to the inside. I am sure Santa was there, and they did have something but I did miss it this year. Many years ago, the big box stores each had their own Santa. Now of course, there is one per mall, with (usually, at least for now) a very elaborate display. I will give credit here, as it is a much better experience for the shortys. Even as a pre-K child, I knew they guy I saw at department store B, was not the same guy I just saw 30 minutes earlier at department store A. Every generation talks about how much better it was when they were growing up. Sadly, there is no doubt that this is true. Enjoy the malls before they go the way of the drive-in theater. Sadly, nearby Parmatown, Westgate, and Randall Park did not survive the 80s style mall experience. The two former have been converted to outdoor shopping the the later being gone forever. I prefer the indoor shopping experience and going from store to store without any worry of snow or rain. Enjoy it while it lasts.

Lots of really cool stores, the only reason its 3 stars is because my friend, fiance and I walked into hot topic and I picked out stickers for my laptop then decided not to get them so I sat them down and walked away. The employee walked up to me and told me to go back and get them so he could put them in the box which thats #1 of the dick moves, dude you could have just, I dont know, gone for them yourself to do your job? #2 I go up to get them and they were gone, and there were other customers by where I sat them, I told him they might have picked them up to buy and he said "okay....nevermind". He was accusing me of stealing stupid ass stickers. Yeah. Like I have nothing better to do with my time but take a damn sticker. Like for real? Really dude? It was just totally disrespectful. Other than that great northern is pretty chill. I just had a bad experience because of a disrespectful employee.

Poor service! Paid $25 for shellac polish on acrylic nails that began coming off within two days. I returned after five days to show them what happened and request that I receive a credit toward my next shellac service. The manager gave me a hard time about having it re-done and when I requested to receive a credit toward my next shellac service (since I get a fill every two weeks) the request was refused. Instead she required that the shellac polish be re-applied that day despite the fact that my nails had began to grow out and the polish could not be applied evenly and did not look professionally done. Even the nail tech acknowledged that the polish did not look good and he attempted to use a top coat to minimize the issue. I had been coming here for about six months. I wont be going back.

Terrible customer service, if I could give -5 stars most definitely would. My husband and I both went to the Great Northern Mall location for Macys. We were trying to resize a ring and we were greeted by a very unfriendly jewler. She didnt seem like she wanted to help us at all! Just wow. We had wanted her to find the receipt for the over $3,500 dollar ring that was NOT sized correctly the first time. I then asked for a refund on a repair coverage that he had purchased with the ring and they refused to do anything with it! She called he manager and then he also didnt want to have anything to do with our situation! Completely rude employees who I could see hated being where they were! 10 out of 10 wont be returning to this Macys. They werent helpful and they both had a terrible attitude.

One of the few malls left who havent joined the trend and turned into a mini mall!! Cant say enough about how glad i am that its held strong! Many fabulous things tons of stores a good food court cant say enough positive comments about this place..plus, it always reminds me of when I was a child growing up in the area we shopped here often.. its never seemed to have thr problem other malls seem to of been dealing with having lots of kids and teenagers hanging around here I guess thats why its still open.. Beverly reason it is so glad its still around its nice to shop in doors in the bad weather we have here in Cleveland often

Decent mall but parents of little ones beware: the one small family lounge/restroom at this mall is becoming a cellphone charging station and hangout for teens. They only have one changing station, one private room for breastfeeding moms, and one bathroom stall. Every. single. time. my wife needs to feed our son, I have to ask a group of kids to get out. As soon as she is done, someone else will slip in, close the curtain and plug in their phone. Expect uncomfortable situations in what should be a safe haven for breastfeeding mothers and parents with small children.

Established Shopping Mall with easy access from all points thanks to adjacent I-480 highway. Majority of mall spaces are populated with recognized retailers, although many of the higher-end stores are now located at Crocker Park, which is just a few miles north of this location. All anchor spaces are filled, with several big box retailers surrounding the property. Property was clean and well-maintained with nice amenities (Check out the Family Restrooms!) There is a large chess set for use in the wing nearest the Sears main entrance.
