The reason I give 3 Stars rating this place is because it is supposed to be a Mall area however there is nothing enjoyable enough to warrant wanting to just go here for a visit. Its very boring with no stores worth wasting your time to fight traffic and then walk through this place for a visit. Unless youre carrying a couple thousand dollars and just want to blow it on pieces of what some call "Art" from a couple of very expensive stores. Youve got a Macys there which we have all heard about their stores closing soon. The ONLY place here that is worthwhile and brings people to take a walk through part of this so called mall is "Cine bistro"! A beautiful movie and dinner/drinks served to you in your high class reclining movie seats by a very organized and friendly wait staff. Sure its more expensive than your regular chain movie theaters but its an elegant experience to be able to go to a place like this and enjoy a completely different experience One that is great for a romantic date with being able to get away and enjoy something classy. Yes Cine bistro is the Only reason one would want to come here at all.

South Gate Mall has been my "Go To" for shopping since the 80s. However, since UTC was built, we lost a lot of great stores. I do not have a desire to travel to North Sarasota, so Ive continued to shop, our limited selection at South Gate. I am thankful new restaurants are being added, however, its not really a "Mall" anymore, and further, the name changing to "Siesta Key" creates a disinterest in me, to avoid it altogether. I understand the desire to market for the #1 beach that we love and adore, but honestly... the South Gate neighborhood is right beside the complex. Moreover, you have to cross a bridge, several miles away, to get to Siesta Key. This actually makes me want to find other locations to shop, just to avoid this kind of tactical marketing. Im not interested in "fake".

Very classy mall. Very Upscale. Not a lot to choose from. However, it is under construction. Many places to sit and enjoy the architecture and interior design. The bathrooms were clean and very high end with the latest no touch features (including a air dryer for your hands actually attached to the faucet). The family bathroom had a little toilet for little kids. The shops were expensive. I bought some things for my daughters at Gymboree. They had a great sale. It was a nice experience. They should look into getting more food options and more stores. Other than that it was a nice little visit.

Starbucks is gone. It definitely needs a coffee shop or two. Lots of comfy seats to rest at, very elegant atmosphere, a little too upscale for my taste. Stores offered are limited as it is a small space. Cinebistro just opened, and the food was nice but pricey. Youre definitely paying for experience but the food is not terrible, just small portion wise. If you prefer big malls that offer a variety of options, then this mall is not for you. Curiously there is a currency exchange booth right around the main entrance.

Its a nice mall! Not over crowed great place to walk! Its very high end so dont expect.to find a 5.00 or less, Old Navy Sears or Pennys but its a nice relaxed atmosphere and I cant wait to try Cinebestro! So if you are looking for a Macys Dillards or a small speciality store its a great place to shop! Two Jays is an awesome deli! Yum my mouth waters just thinking about their food! Oh and you will not see a lot of random teenagers just hanging out! Its definitely not their kinda mall which is one reason I like it!

Southgate used to be a constantly busy happy place to shop, with a large variety of stores and shops. Recently, quite a few stores have closed, relocating for various reasons. I hope this trend will stop & turn around. Southgate has great parking, lots of handicapped places and is easily accessed by Siesta Key & the City of Sarasota. It would be a real loss if South Gate, once a Hub with Woolworths, Publix, Businesses & every kind of store youd ever need to visit. Dont leave us high & dry!

Miss the old "South Gate Mall" as it has more retail stores but liking that it is building up again. Want to watch a movie in comfort and have a meal at the same time they have Cinebistro. Under construction now are a few new great restaurants to come. LA Fitness on the back side as well as some good retail stores like Macys, Loft and more. Great location.

Not one Mens clothing store in the whole Mall. Not one Mens anything in this mall! Lets just hope the construction includes men ,as men need clothes too! I must say that the restaurant called Toojays is the best! I get takeout all the time always the Best! Its a Jewish deli/restaurant..Always has a lot of customers, deserts are Awesome! 5 stars for Toojays!!

Not sure what to make of this mall. Ive been in Sarasota for 8 years in all and this mall has always seemed "dead" and the construction hasnt helped it one bit. High end stores throughout + your standard ones: Nike, Bath & Body, etc. Take your chances or visit SRQ Square Mall or University Mall.

I only had a chance to hustle through in my first experience there, enjoying the air conditioned, posh track-shapped mall while making my way to a SCAT bus. However, I hope to return either to enjoy dinner and a movie with one stop or simply people watch in the extraordinarily elegant environs.

Las dos galerías de arte son facinante, no te da deseos de terminar la visita, admirando las obras que allí se exhiben.

We go walking at this mall. Its nice, with several upscale stores. They are working on adding to it and more stores. One really cool thing is that it is the home of Cinebistro, a fantastic eat-in movie theater with recliners. Love it.

The mall itself is a ghost town. Its clean but thats probably because there isnt many people to clean up after. I recommend eating at TooJayss deli. They have excellent food and I believe possibly the best Cheeseburger in town.

Wonderfully revitalized mall with the new Brio and Connors restaurants open now. This mall is definitely going to be the hot spot to meet friends for a night out. Definitely looks like they will need to add parking capacity.

I love this mall. Never crowded. Check out the movie dinner club called CineBistro in the mall. Or leave your vehicle at Johnnys next door to be detailed as you stroll through Macys. The place is beautiful inside!

Beautiful atmosphere with an interesting mix of artsy boutique type stores and high end brand names. Cinebistro provides wonderful food and creative drinks with in theatre dining.

A rather small mall. Feels like a ghost town. The people in the shops are incredibly nice though, and theres a new Cinebistro which I cant wait to see a movie at.
