Before you order specialty cakes from this place, do your research, and ask more than one person behind the counter. You would think that a store that dose ONLY specialty or made to order products would know what they are doing, but appratenly not. Weve done business with this place several times and have been pleased. They are worth the premium, or so we had thought. My wife ordered cupcakes to look like Elmo for a birthday party this week over a month ago. When calling to increase the size of the order today, was told, "Oh, and were not able to reproduce elmo on the cupcake for copywrite reasons." Well, the party is in three days. Was there a plan to call me? Apparently that was next on their list of things to do. I am not asking for a copy of elmo on a cake. Something that looks like him would have sufficed. I find it utterly unprofessional to have been dealt with in this way. If I did my business like this Id be on the street. "Wups... sorry... I made a mistake." I know it seems little, but it is the reason we came to this place. No work around was offered. Buyer beware of what is promised by this bakery. Were totally in a lurch at this point, with no recourse.

We had read about this place online before visiting. Given that it was in the Short North we had high expectations, and we were not disappointed. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable. When ordering you could see throughout most of the bakery which was clean and well organized. And although we were only ordering a few sweet treats we were treated with the level of courtesy given to those ordering for a large wedding. The food: So sweet and rich that the wife was re-thinking the nuptials to marry a cupcake! All items we ordered were visually interesting and well though-out. The treats available in the display were varied so there was a little something for everyone. What could be better? We chose to eat outside at the small table which is in an odd location so everyone walking in the door is right next to you. Given the option of shoving our face on the sidewalk or doing it at the small table we chose the small table. All in all it was a great experience and recommended to anyone visiting the area.

A gem of the short north, Piece of Cake delivers top notch service with out of this world tastes. I have tried many if not all of their deserts. I am currently obsessed with the red velvet cupcakes with cream cheese frosting, but you could LITERALLY close your eyes and point and whatever you put into your mouth would be to die for. When I have time, I stop in for lunch. The chicken salad sandwich is THE BEST I have ever had. I believe the addition of sliced grapes in the mix gives it an out of this world mix of savory and sweet. This brings me to the confectionary creations that are created there. The cakes have been featured in magazines. They are as beautiful as they are delicious. The bakery is set up so you can see the cakes being prepared. The artistic ability of these decorators is a joy to watch. In conclusion. Do yourself a favor. Take a trip to the short north. Seek this bakery out. Run, dont walk, and do it soon.

The experience was sub-par. I was ignored by a woman decorating a cake, twice, while she talked away with another co-worker. Eventually I was greeted by a younger gentleman but only after getting a few shrill glances from staff after an awkward wait... Once serviced, I tried the cowboy cookie which was tasty and satisfying. The flavor from the crushed chips made the cookie a good buy. The bacon brownie on the other hand was very disappointing. It looked and tasted like a glamoured up Walmart brownie. You could not taste the bacon at all nor the stout icing. What I assumed was minced texture of the bacon ( if there was any at all ), gave the brownie an undesirable texture like fatty grizzle. I did not like it. There were muffins missing from the shelf I would have liked to try but alas, no deal!

We were so happy to have Short North Piece of Cake make our delicious wedding cakes! We preferred a simple, classic wedding cake and the wonderful artists created a beautiful and timeless cake! I also ordered a surprise groom cake, which was a replica of the citation jet my husband flies. They made an awesome cake from a picture I provided and my pilot husband was VERY impressed with the details. The tail number was even our initials and weding date. Our guests commented how great our cakes looked and tasted! I would highly recommend Short North Piece of Cake to any couple planning their wedding or special event.

First time visit..... 1. Was not welcomed 2. Seem to annoyed the cashier because I was still deciding 3. Once decide ,had to wait 10mins till I was even knowelege again. 4.Was rushed through the transition and wasnt even welcome to come again. Custmor Service is huge to me. I too manage two bakeries and I understand it can get very chaotic. But for that being my first (and only visit after that) I honestly didnt feel welcomed. Congratulation on your awesome business but customer service must remain number 1 at all times. Best Wishes

My fiancé and I went this morning for a consultation for our wedding cake. What a wonderful experience! As soon as you walk in you are overwhelmed with all the beautiful cakes and pastries and decorating. We were able to try all the filling and icing flavors with the three different kinds of cakes and they all were very good! The icing was not too sweet and was smooth and just perfect. This will definitely be the place where we get our weeding cake and likely all cakes from now on!!

Piece of Cake is a great place to go for a bite of lunch for those of us in the Italian Village/Victorian Village area. Weve never not found a seat, its quiet enough for conversation, the staff recognize us and are very friendly and accommodating. The sandwiches are fresh and good. Two or three times Ive had to get a regular cake at the last minute and every time it has been delicious. They have even written a message for me in one foreign language or another with no problem.

By far the best bakery in town. I have ordered two cakes from them in the past six months and have been super happy with the quality. My sons caterpillar theme cake turned out to be exactly like the one from the book. Everyone from the birthday party was raving about the cake. People from my office still remember an earlier cake I had ordered from these guys. As long as I live in Columbus this is the place for me.

I just bought a Graduation cake there today and I am happy with the way it turned out every detail from the design to the cake itself was awesome the staff was super nice and friendly the cake didnt fit in the box at first but they made effort to find a bigger box super helpful I will recommend all of my family and friends here and will be buying many cakes from here in the near future!

Short North Piece of Cake created a cake for my birthday recently. There was two different cake flavors/frosting combinations in the tiers and they were tasty and moist. The decorative elements were well done, especially the sculpted topper. I would order from them again and/or recommend their services.
