Its true: you are all but invisible to the employees unless you are one. Should you actually find one of their mythical existence, they wont know anything about what you need to find because they will belong to another department and know whats in their own store about as well as an infrequent shopper. Last time I was at a register (only one open, all the rest were just self checkout), the cashier had to come back to it, not really interrupting her conversation with the other employees who were guarding the self checkouts. Her register froze in the middle of the transaction. Got the feeling from the way she responded that it was a common occurrence, so I guess if theyre using ancient software, its no surprise about the data breach. This last trip, I went about 2 new cabinet door panels. I spoke to the guy sitting in the desk in the kitchen cabinetry area, who asked me about all about it, then gave me authoritative advice like he had no idea, telling me I should go directly to the manufacturer (for 2 door panels!) and then come to find, its not even his area. He was just sitting there. He told me to wait for the actual salesperson, who was busy. I couldnt see losing more time, Ill figure something else out. Among our current repairs, this morning, the contractors painting for us came back with two of two paint colors wrong. They had been circled on the paint chip card. Home Depot had entered the numbers in wrong into their color mixer. Im so glad I found out before everything had been painted wrong. Never go here to have keys made. Last time I went for that, years back, after the third trip with the set redone, I just wanted my money, went to the hardware store on Coventry (Thank God they are still in existence) and they got it right the first time. So these problems have been ongoing for a while now. I wish you could get larger appliances and cabinet doors through them, then Id never need to set foot in a Home Depot. I hope the hardware store on Coventry never goes away. The Home Depot model is one of a warehouse where you must search over acres, forever, to find things on your own, and then check it out yourself. While they watch you.

The only good experiences I ever have there are when I am left alone, or when I can find stuff myself. If it wasnt so close to my house, I would never go there. Ill even drive a half hour to another Home Depot, rather than rent any equipment from the one near me. The service is 100% better at the Home Depot by 271. Its as if half the people at the Cleveland Heights Home Depot are annoyed you are bothering them. When I ask for help finding something, I get either no help, or some kid, dragging his feet to find someone else who knows after I insist. Plus when you do get help its unsolicited, and obviously bad advice. Product recommendations I regretted every time. Paint strippers that never worked. One time I asked one guy where to find a specific plumbing part, he asked what I needed it for, and proceeded to recommend a forty dollar solution. When he walked away after wasting twenty minutes of my time, I noticed the part I originally ASKED for, but he said didnt exist, just six feet away on the bottom shelf, for less than a dollar. I tried to rent an orbital sander but the guy argued with me over what I needed and what I was doing rather than rent me the damn sander I asked for, the next time it was like they were too busy to move. If I need to rent equipment I go to the other Home Depot or to Handy Rents. Once I asked for a price out in the garden center and it took three people and nearly thirty minutes before they decided to go ask someone else, but only because I still wanted the thing. What a jerk I am, still wanting to buy something theyd have to find a price for. And these are just the incidents I can think of off the top of my head.

We just looked at the reviews and had a moment of laughter reading them since every time we go to this home depot we feel the same way. We go to this store because it is so close and we dont need another store closing in cleveland heights but I am tempted to go to the highland heights store too. After looking by myself for 50 feet of black stranded cable #12 in the aisles I decided to ask a lady to cut it for me from the big roll. Instead of cutting it she went and looked again in the aisles to figure out that there wasnt any. Then she asked me 5 times about the color, caliber and amount of cable. Then finally called a gentleman that came and did exactly the same with the difference that he asked me 3 times the same information. He told the lady to cut the 50 feet out of the roll which I pointed to and asked her to do at the very beginning. She went to cut it and I had to show her again that she was going to cut from the wrong roll. To top it off i finally got my cable 30 min later and when I got to the cashier the code that was given did not match and forced them to contact the electric aisle again. I am Costa Rican and never have seen something so pathetic to buy 50 feet of black stranded #12 cable in my entire life.

Zero stars. Spent 1 hour w my 9 yr old daughter gathering needed items, got to the check out and cashier yelled at my daughter to get off the cart. WHAAAT???? So in the exact same tone I asked to speak to the MANAGER. Obviously she was appalled of the way I demanded my request. I explained that is the way she just spoke to my daughter. Manager showed up and contended "thousands of children have died this way." Never acknowledged that the cashier had never been trained on properly addressing a client ro child. Oh, the cashier grabbed a call while we were in the middle of this one sided discussion. The customer behind me with his two children also left. Want to be treated sh**ty? Home depot is your place. 5 minutes later went to Ace hardware on Coventry and within 22 seconds I was being helped. The gentleman payed my daughter a few compliments. Will make my best attempt at never spending a dime of my money at HD. Sure I spend 1 or 2 dollars extra at Ace but I value their respect much more than 2 extra dollars. A compliment to my child, wow, you got my business. HD get out of CH.

I avoid this shopping center, as every business here gives terrible service. This Home Depot is close, but as with other reviewers, customer service scored a ZERO. I needed some boards cut (every other HD store does this) but the "lumber associate" told me they arent allowed to cut treated lumber! That was 3/23/16. I went to another HD location and got my lumber cut AND loaded the next day. The people at this store seem to avoid work at every opportunity, especially if it involves helping customers. I dont know why I wasted my time trying.. *** It is 3/28 and after contacting HQ I was given what amounted to a refund (generous) and assured that steps would be taken to make the necessary changes. It took a couple days to get everyone on the same page, but Im hoping Mr. Norwood is good for his word. Ill be stopping back in 30 days and will add to this review at that time. I really do hope things change, because its a great location. I literally have to pass it to get to the next closest HD, which Ive been doing. Stay tuned...
