Good place to walk for exercise , there are many closed stores , the rents should have gone down , before the mass exodus . On the Sears Wing , a few days ago , counted only 2 stores open out of possible 20 ish locations , the Dillards wing is better and newer , this mall could use a 5 million dollar face lift and a 50 percent reduction in rents , this malls location is great , noticed several mice around a few out side dinning tables at the food court entrance , also surprised that some people throw food garbage from cars into the parking lots by the food court in large quantities daily , the guards at the mall and the mall associates have always been great and very kind when asked any general question and I have not felt unsafe at this mall ever , last 40 years, but have been surprised at its huge decline in activity , seems online and tv shopping and a poor economy, coupled with to high rents, have hit this place fairly hard

Everyone that helped me out were incredibly friendly like holy cow didnt know people working could be so nice. The people that work in lids were sooo friendly they were providing me with service like they were doing their dream jobs. The food at Ming tree was amazing I had lo mien general pow chicken and broccoli and steak. (I ended up sitting with tree cute girls) and the workers in vans were super nice as well I felt really bad cuz I went and refunded a hat so I could get my hat a lids (diamond supply co hat) only down fall about vans was a guy came in there and he smelt like weed. But I dont usually rate things 5 stars so you can tell that I really like this mall and will recommend it to as many people possible.

This past weekend I went to the mall. In the center courtyard, a teens for life group had set up a table advocating pro life. They had life size rubber fetuses and were handing out prolife stickers to small children. I am stunned that mall management feels strongly enough about abortion that they would risk polarizing their patrons in this way. Malls are supposed to be family environments, nit a place that forces one to have to explain what abortion is to ones children. I refuse to give independence mall one dime of my money or time again. Don't shop there!

I went there to do some work. It is completely infested wIth rats. When we opened the drop ceiling to run a wire loads and loads of rat poop fell on to one of the restraunt floors we were working in. 8 out of the 10 existing lines were chewed up in more than several places. This should be turned into the health department and I will be making that call. Please do not eat out of there food court until you ask around and find out if they have delt with this rat problem. I spoke with a security gaurd and he was well aware of the issues.

The only reason I rate one star is probably a reason many others wont care about, but oh well. As I was heading towards the bathroom near the food court, I passed by the family bathroom and next to it I saw a sign reading fathers welcome. The reason this irritates me is because with the whole LGBT movement and everyone getting more rights, I would sure hope fathers didnt all of a sudden lose their right to take their family into the family bathroom. Otherwise to me this implies we didnt have that right to begin with.

Sad mall. Its definitely seen better days. If youve shopped at malls around the U.S. than youll know what Im talking about after being in there for less than 15 minutes. Its very average. Has the usual anchor stores of the south like Belk and Dillards. The stores inside the mall are a hodgepodge of standards like Yankee candle , Journeys, Hot Topic, and unique offerings like flip flop shop, top toad, and Jasmine jewelry. No specialty destination stores. Mayfaire has better more up to date offerings.

Been the mall for me all my life.. its got a great variety, but more than anything I love walking the inside perimeter just people watching. Wide array of stores, among my favorites, the GNC and the olive oil store exceed any expectations Id have for a store in a mall.. the food court also offers a variety of generous choices in cuisine of the fast variety, beating many of the deals on Market street and College road! I especially frequent it for Chinese and cheese steak sandwiches.

As the only indoor mall in Wilmington NC with explosive growth in population and tourism, you would expect that Independence Mall might grow as well but this has not been the case. It has a relatively limited selection in retailers compared to Raleigh or Charlotte even though Wilmington is on the fast track for growth. If you just want to "kick around" an indoor mall it is nice to walk around, but it will not compare to malls in other areas that have kept pace with growth.

This mall is not too bad. There are a lot of empty stores though and the people walking around are assholes. No one looks where theyre going, so you have to spend the whole time dodging people from running into you. When a group of 6 people are walking around, they walk side-by-side, because why not? No one else is trying to walk around, no one else exists in their world.

I took my boys there for the train ride. While the ride around the mall and the entry to Moaha was cool, it cost $20+ for my 2 boys and i to ride for less than 10 min. Also, shops are closed and there are 2 many vendors and cars in the halls. Gets frustrating because the Kids cant focus, i cant see and the vendors are right in the way especially at the food court.

This mall is conveniently located and has several department store locations as well as nationally acclaimed smaller stores. The JC Penney store has a great salon with extensive hair services and spa sevices. Right next door in this store you will find a large Sephora outlet. Unwind, enjoy and let others help you feel good about yourself.

We happened to stop in here to look for a pair of shoes because we were out of town and needed some. This mall is a little run down. Some stores are ok. The stores that are there seem not very well taken care of. However some of the stores we visited were very well staffed with members that seemed to love what they do.

The classic mall of Wilmington keeps on going. Its nice to see so many people enjoying the mall when there are many newer places in town to shop. Its still convenient to have so much variety in such close proximity while being indoors from the summer heat or winter chill. Independence Mall is the classic!

Large Mall anchored by local Belk and Dillards as well as JC Penney and Sears department stores and a large number of other national and regional shops. However it seems to have gone a bit down market in recent years as some good stores have closed and been replaced by lower quality shops.

It sucks it needs better stores. You shouldnt have taken Gap out. There is no H&M or any good shoes stores besides Belk & Dillards. Step your game up this town is growing & no one wants to travel through crazy traffic for an hour from CB rd to Mayfaire when we want to shop!
