Edited in response to the fantastic PR reply: the car was 12 years old not over 20, had 212,000 miles on it (which I mentioned that it had a lot), had been keyed in a parking lot on one panel only, and was a very loved and well taken care of car with an almost entirely rebuilt system. And 3 cats and cat urine? Really? Im allergic to cats and honestly, if youre confusing my perfume that I spray daily in my car for cat urine then you might wanna get your smeller checked out. Either that or you are thinking of another customer, in which case I am sorry, but this was not a positive experience for me. I had a VERY negative experience with getting a price quote to sell my car. Ive always worked for local businesses, and have always wanted to keep everything that I do within my community. Not only that, but I know cars. REALLY well. And I have had rebuilt a vast majority on my car, leaving only the transmission and the engine to be replaced. I had a really solid offer from Carmax, which I brought into Hollingsworth after hearing their ad on the radio. I would SO much rather keep business local. Yes, my car has a substantial amount of miles on it, but like I said, Hollingsworth was willing to match carmax quotes according to their own advertisements, so I figured it was worth a shot. The guy at Hollingsworth took a look at my car, test drove it, and came back telling me that "it had too much that needed to be repaired" and "In order for us to purchase the car it would need to pass NC State inspections." When I informed him the car had passed NC Inspections not even two months ago, he goes, "Oh, well, with the tread on the tires being shot, theres no way. They must have lit you one." The tires were replaced not even a year ago, with regular rotation and balance every two to three months and the brake pads replaced 2 months prior. I have ALWAYS taken my car to a legit inspection location as I do not believe in cheating any system, and I was highly offended that the owners of Hollingsworth would even insinuate this. Just because I am a female does not mean I dont know cars, and I would have much more appreciated a simple "your car doesnt fit our market" than a made up reason that is simply false. I would not recommend anyone do business with Hollingsworth unless you are willing to fight your way through made up excuses. One of the few local businesses I have been highly disappointed in in my 25 years of living in Raleigh.

Came here to buy my first car because I read great reviews about how honest and genuine these people are. I was completely new to the process and hoping to get a car I could be really excited about. I am on a tight budget and needed a bang for my buck. I bought my car trusting that what they told me was the truth and expectant that their mechanic would make sure it was up to par. I purchased the car and was happy with it. Unfortunately I ran into a friend that works at a used lot and they told me the car was in rough condition. Several things were close to breaking and with over 150k miles the timing belt and clutch had never been changed or checked. I called the dealer to tell them that I felt I had been cheated and he began yelling at me on the phone telling me I didnt know what I was talking about. Maybe he was right, I dont know much about cars, so I let it go. Next day, Im driving and less than 30 minutes into my drive it starts smoking. I called them to get help and all the guy said was "thats convienent that it broke down right after you called." As if I had planned this!! Then they fixed it and wanted me to pay for the full repair. I asked to pay half and after arguing and me threatening arbitration, they agreed. I picked it up 3 days later and the car began smoking again within 5 miles of the shop. I went back and asked for help and this time they fixed the repair. They told be there was no way they would buy the car back and I had to deal with it. Now, less than a month later the timing belt broke and Im in the hole again trying to fix the car. I dont have the time or money for this and they left me feeling completely hopeless and unsatisfied. They were rude throughout the entire process and treated me like an imbecile for not knowing as much about cars as them. I will never go back to these people and highly recommend if you do decide to go to them to have a third party check out the car first. I called them today to see their reaction to the timing belt and one son said he would have Beady call me back. I will re-edit this review if they handle it correctly, but for now I am sad and in disbelief.

I was looking for a truck for several months when I came upon one at Hollingsworth Auto Sales. I have always stayed away from small dealers due to lack of trust. My wife and I decided to take a look anyway. Was greeted by Mr. Beaty Hollingsworth, told him we were interested to looking at the truck. He took us over and showed it to us. He told us we could take it for a test drive if we wanted. We did and liked the truck however we noticed a few things needing repair. We sat down and we told him about the items and he said he would “make it right”. There was no pressure want so ever to buy the truck. As a matter of fact the entire staff made us feel very comfortable. We decided to purchase the truck. As we were completing the paperwork, other people came in and were treated in the same manner. It was very refreshing going into a dealership, being treated with respect and most importantly dealing with someone with integrity and who is a man of his word. A short week after talking the truck home the “check engine” light came on. I took it down to a repair shop near me to have it looked at. They told me there was an issue with the catalytic converter and need to be replaced. The repair was quoted in the four figure area. I called Beaty and advised him what was going on. He, without hesitation, asked me to bring the truck back to him so he could look at it. Within a few days he called me up and said my truck was ready for pickup. I came down fully expecting to pay for the repairs and he handed me the keys and said he took care of it. Without a doubt, Hollingsworth Auto will be the first and only place for us when it comes time for another vehicle.

So Ive been holding off on this review for a week or so just to get some auto loan stuff settled. However, the folks Hollingsworth Auto were champs at being patient with my Auto Company. My wife and I purchased a Mini Cooper from them a week or two ago, and it really was a nice looking car. Beaty, our salesman, gave me a ridiculously good deal on it. Im hesitant to say that he gave me a lower price than I was about to offer to pay, but he was a good man and offered something that we both found fair. We even got a nice warranty out of the deal. I wish I could say that everything went smoothly, as the battery in the car kicked the bucket about a week into owning it. I dont think either party could reasonably have known it wouldve died, because even the technician that helped replace it couldnt find a reason for it not holding a charge, as it had about a year of life left in it. However, Beaty and the folks at Hollingsworth Auto really stood behind their product and reimbursed us for the cost of the battery, even though they really werent obligated to. I really appreciate how much pride they have in their service to go out of their way to help the customer have the best experience, and take a lot of stress out of the inevitable surprises that can come with a used car. I highly recommend them, on one hand for the amazing deal they gave us, and on the other hand, for how quickly they worked to try and make things right when things didnt go as smoothly as wed hoped. Five Stars!
