This place is close to a few curry places in North Charlotte, so I decided to try some lamb and chicken here. My main quib is about the pricing they follow for lamb. I ordered 1.5lb of bone-in lamb stew pieces and 1 bird of chicken. After paying for the meats, I noticed the lamb-meat to be too small for the 11.53$ that I paid for it. So, I asked the lady whether its really 1.5lb. She said yes it is, and after I asked her to weigh it, it turns out to be only 0.92lb. Then she said, the meat cutter first took 1.5lb lamb-meat out, but he removed fats from it, and so it came out to be only 0.92lb. And she said, thats about it, she wont do anything more. So, essentially, if you buy lamb here, they will give you only 60% of the meat, but charge you for the whole 100%. And it turns out to be really costly; I had to pay around 12$ for less than an lb. I consider it a rip-off, so hence the single-star review.

I did some research before actually visiting the store and one of the reviews that stuck out to me was the fact that they charge you for less than what you actually take home. I ordered almost 5 pounds of goat meat and 4 pounds of chicken and though I was charged for such, I only got 3.7 pounds of goat and barely 1.5 pounds of chicken. This really upset me. I had previously read the reviews about how they take out the fat so it reduces the weight, so I specifically told them not to take out the fat or the skin but they still did and charged me for a weight that I did not get to take home. DISHONEST, DISHONEST DISHONEST. For this reason, I will not return back here. Holy Joe is a great idea for a store but their business practice is not with integrity and that I despise. I wish I can give them zero stars.

The best Halal Market in Charlotte! Ive ordered meat from pretty much every Halal grocer in the city and Holy Joes has the freshest meat, a very clean and welcoming shopping experience, and the absolute best customer service. This is one of the few places around where the owner makes an effort to know his customers names and families. I have never been disappointed with the quality of the meat that Ive received, and if you call ahead you wont have to wait for your order. I dont mind paying a higher price for the quality that you receive at Holy Joes!

These guys are great and the proprietor is such a friendly guy. The meat is outstanding, the lamb and chicken Ive gotten there has been better than any meat Ive found in Charlotte and Ive been to Whole Foods, various Halal butchers and high end grocery stores. Be sure to call ahead and let them know what you want since they cut it fresh and it takes about 30-45 minutes. They have a lot in the way of groceries and spices and they do carry a large number of the essentials but in honesty, go there for the meat.

I used to like this place but not anymore. You over pay for the amount of lamb/goat meat you get and most of the time, the meat is very thick/hard to cook. If you pressure cook, you cook for 20 -25 whistles and still, your teeth and gums ache after eating it. The funny thing is, he even recommends/sells meat tenderizer at the same time alone with the meat, saying that the meat is hard to cook. Its like wasting 100/200$ per month. I will start going back to my previous meat seller.

For the amount of meat (with lots of bones) you get, please be prepared to spend like 20$ a pound for goat meat. This place is just a rip off. We would have bought goat meat here atleast 20 - 30 times and never happy with the price Vs quantity. The quality of meat is not consistent. We are back to our old meat place. I am sure many of the reviews below are fake as I dont understand how can people not get that, this place is very very very expensive.

My wife and I buy all our meat and groceries from this place!! Halal and fresh all the way and It is conveniently located almost across our home. The reason why I gave 4 stars is because of the long waiting line.Very friendly and professional staff ,the owner is a good and kind man BUT... The best thing for you is to call and place an order over the phone in advance to avoid long wait.Very busy place!! 2 Thumbs waaaay up. Halal and Halal!!

I ordered the De boned Stuffed Turkey with cornbread dressing and it was excellent. Very juicy and it did not dry out at all. Easy directions to follow and it was stuffed with plenty of dressing. It says it will feed about 10 to 12 people. The turkey definitely will, but not the dressing. You will definitely need to make extra dressing. If not their may not be enough for seconds. Will definitely order this again!!

Great place to buy Zabihah/Halal meat. They have wide selection of Beef, Chicken, Lamb, goat and Fish. I like their products because everything is fresh cut and clean. They have the best meat in town. Also they take orders over the phone so you do not have to wait in long lines. Will go again.

Good quality meat and service. The staff is friendly, and the price is reasonable compared to most stores. I buy meat from this place because its fresh and it supports a local business, rather than buying processed meat from a chain store like Harris Teeter.

Best place to buy Halal Meat. I always got good meat to cook for Biryani and goat curry cuisines. I usually cook it for 30mins, for best result cook it in pressure cooker, unlike chicken which gets cooked quickly in any vessel. Highly recommended place :)

I purchased lamb meat and took it home, noticed it weighs 37% less than what I have been charged. Talked to the owner he told me they have cleaned and taken all fat out! They over charge you! Not an honest owner.

Chicken is overpriced. Quality of Beef with bone or without bone varies a lot. You can get only bones if you order beef with bone. But their beef stew is better than most of nearby halal shops.
