I used to shop here on a VERY regular basis(several hours a week), but not any more. I think maybe the original owner (I want to say his name was Richard) turned to store over to his daughter and I kinda got the feeling she wasnt as into the store very much. In fact she kinda comes across as ANGRY. Yikes! The last time I was in I saw lots of new stuff, and several racks of non book related things. The daughter was handing several armloads of books back to someone and telling the person "no, none of them" and the guy asked about a store credit instead of cash and she said, "no, we dont need any books". I spotted a couple of Russian history books that looked interesting in one of the stacks so I followed the guy out and asked if I could look at them and ended up buying them from him directly. I left and "unliked" their FB page. I dont want to shop somewhere where they act like they are doing me a favor being in business.

I went to this bookstore early in the day and the young lady working there was very kind d and friendly. I told her Id be back to trade in some books. I come back a few hours later to trade in, and shes gone. Im like okay cool, I assume the older "gentleman" and "lady" behind the counter er would help. They did not. As soon as I walked in, I was not greeted. The lady just looked at me with wide bug eyes and blurted out "you need help!" Not inviting at all. I say yes mam, Id like to trade in some books. I had a back pack full of books and the old man says "well take them out of the bag" Super disrespectful and condescending attitudes. I told them never mind the books and wished them a good day. If youre looking for a warmer atmosphere recommend the Last word on North Tryon.

The one star is for the old man. Hes great. The 4 stars deducted are for: the surly old mummy who roams the stacks dressed like shes still 15, the old mans snooty granddaughter who is basically running a vegan grocery in what was once a great bookstore, the cats and rabbits running amok over books and food alike (im certain theres no feces on their paws at all) and lastly lilith fairs uppity, hipster, vegan cronies who human centipede up central and in the door smelling each others farts and telling one another its eau d cologne. Jiminy... Are you a bookstore or a clubhouse for fans of all things lentil?!

Excellent used bookstore. After I discovered this place I routinely started making regular returns to it. Its science fiction selection is great with some finds that Ive always been looking for showing up. Their buy back program is equally good, I dont know what the previous reviewer is complaining about, these guys are fair and honest considering the market. Edit: - I also dont know if Id trust the BBB either, after an investigative report showed them to be more rip off artists (i.e. you pay their annual fee and suddenly an F rating becomes an A, no fuss no muss -

Go there all the time. Everything is clean and organized unlike other book stores. They have a great selection of everything and prices are good. I went down there and they had a great selection of RPG books too! The people at the store are really knowledgeable . One of the best places ever in charlotte. Plus they give you a great deal when you give in your books!

They do not buy for cash, but will trade. I have been here twice and found exactly what I needed and was able to trade even Steven! I believe this is family owned, because i have met the daughter, mom, and dad, who are all very nice. Books are reasonably priced and great in variety.

Plenty of used books at great prices, a must visit place for book lovers. The store is a nice quiet place and great for reading before you buy. There are also several cats wandering around the store, its a very cozy place.

Just like any secondhand retailer you have to visit on a regular basis to get the most out of it. Overall, it is a nice shop but the used architecture/art/design books are pricey and selection limited compared to others.
