My girlfriend and I had purchased a puppy two months ago. Our puppy has had problems since the day we have gotten it and was assured that those problems were associated with the stress of a new home and that our puppy would grow out of them. They tell you that your puppy is up to date with his/her vaccines;however, when you take them to a vet theyll tell you other wise. How in the world do you expect a young puppy to receive those vaccinations and how can we be sure that they were done by a medical professional? The puppy cost us $1,100 which is almost $400 more than what a local breeder will charge you for a puppy that you can choose on site with its mom. The pet pad tells you that you are getting a great deal because they give you a discount for everything in the store the day that you get your puppy and they give you a bag of food as well. Youre not getting a "good" deal, you are over paying for a puppy that isnt the breed that they claim him/her to be. We were told that our puppy was one breed but discovered our little one was in fact a mixed breed puppy. How can a store mislead their customers and tell them theyre getting a pure breed dog but instead youre actually paying for a mixed breed puppy. These puppies are bred from Arkansas Largest puppymill owner, Sharon Munk. If you are not aware what a puppymill is, let me just explain in a couple of words, high amounts of puppies and dogs in small crates that are overbred till they die. One of the store associates showed us a Miniature Pinsher puppy that was born with both female and male genatalia. That puppy is a result of unfortunate inbreeding. Please Im not here to say "Adopt dont shop" but if you choose to shop for a puppy do not shop at The Pet Pad, instead shop from your local North Carolina breeder that will have the mom and puppies on site for you to choose from. At least you know for sure who you are dealing with and that your puppy is healthy. Im surprised these heartless pet store owners are still in business they have caused such heartache for us and they are doing everything they can to continue this "business". Please dont fall for their "local business scheme" these puppies are flown from Arkansas largest puppy mill, the pictures that they have of the dog parents posing with young kids is all a ploy for you to not think they are actually a puppy mill as everyone claims. Please research Sharon Munk and the word puppymill and I guarantee youll have a different outlook on this place. I encourage you to find a puppy where you are not paying $1,100 for a mixed breed dog. Local animal shelters have puppies that are just as young and cute for not even a fraction of what the petpad is charging and if you go to a breeder, ask to see their license and if the mom and puppies are AKC registered. Thank you for taking the time to read this.

I have never been a fan of this pet store because they sell puppies. The country doesnt need one more business making money off the breeding and selling of designer breeds when there are TONS of puppies who need homes that can be found at pounds and rescues. But several months ago, we purchased a few live rats to feed our snake. We always fed frozen, but our new snake would not eat frozen so as much as we didnt want to, we opted to try to feed live. The snake would not eat those either. We took the 2 live rats back to Pet Pad where the clerk told us that not only would these two rats NOT go back to the feeder pool of rats but that we could get store credit for them that could be used for live or frozen even though the coupon said "live." A few months later I returned and got a frozen rat and used one of my coupons. The clerk was friendly enough and I had no problem using it. As a matter of fact, because frozen rats are less expensive than live, she even gave me $1.71 in store credit, the difference between the price of what I had paid for a live rat versus the cost of the frozen rat I was purchasing. Today when I went there to use the remaining coupon the owner came out to help the clerk because I had the rat coupon and this clerk did not know how to ring it up. The owner felt it was necessary to belittle me for trying to use a coupon on a frozen rat that was in his words only to be used for a live rat. I attempted to tell him that I was only doing what I was told I could do by one of his staff, but he wasnt interested in hearing me. I was completely shocked that I was getting "schooled" when in fact the issue clearly seemed internal. When I told him the way he was speaking to me was not going to merit him a positive google review, he neither apologized or attempted to demonstrate any kind of customer service to make up for his rude and patronizing behavior. He told me he would make an exception "this time" but "next time" for me to know. I assured him there would be no next time. We routinely purchase pet supplies from Amazon, PetSmart and Petco and never have I been treated so poorly. And when I entered the store, no one greeted me. I had to find a clerk, a young man, who happen to be snoozing inside of the pet run they have inside the store. Talk about an unprofessional and rude establishment. I will not go back in there. Update, July 6, 2017, interestingly I just read the owners reply and Im quite disappointed that he is being dishonest in the exchange that we had. I have no reason to be dishonest in my review. He has every reason to be dishonest in his reply. Read the reviews. Overall they are very poor. Enter the store at your own risk and trust this owner with pet purchases and pet ownership questions at your own risk.

Our wonderful puppy came from this store, and after a measly five minutes of research, we found out that the breeder who supplies the puppies to this store is the owner of one of the largest puppy mills in the country, located in Kansas. Its as simple as doing a quick Google search of the breeders name. You shouldnt shrug off what so many people are constantly pointing out to you. Maybe instead of leaving passive-aggressive replies to reviews, you actually address the problem? Its a disgusting business practice to support puppy mills. Its even more disgusting to be borderline hateful toward the people who pointed out your wrongdoings. Listen to your customers. It might be a little more expensive to buy your puppies from a legitimate breeder, but at least its not supporting animal cruelty. The breeder technically classifies as a "High Volume Breeder", but just how high volume is over 800 dogs at a time? Whats the law on that? Isnt it no more than ten litters on a property at a time? A reputable breeder will do as follows: breed one type of dog (as opposed to the numerous, [I believe Ive seen up to 18 different breeds and mixes on the stores page] breeds the store sells regularly), and not sell to a store thats over a thousand miles away. Good breeders dont have to sell their dogs to stores to earn money. They can sell their dogs themselves. Its downright insulting to not bat an eye at what your customers say. The FaceBook reviews point out even more compelling evidences against their breeder. And also, saying that, "I believe for a review to be valid, you should have shopped at the store youre reviewing", doesnt discredit what the person is saying. Its just a rude way to shrug off someone that is completely capable of performing a Google search. Research pet stores, and if possible, buy directly from a breeder. Dont support this place. Edit: Did I say that having 2-3 dogs on a property is the maximum for being a reputable breeder? No, I didnt. I stated that having over EIGHT HUNDRED dogs is not okay, in the slightest. Thats a puppy mill. In no way am I painting all commercial breeders with the same brush. Im saying that four to five litters is a humane cap to the amount of dogs to have on a property. Puppy mills are disgusting cess pools of genetic diseases forced upon hundreds of dogs. There is a review stating that a dog purchased here died (if I remember correctly) twenty days after they bought it from a genetic disease. Thats disgusting. Obtained from a breeder who runs a puppy mill. And yes, there are bad apples in the breeding industry. But youre buying from one.
