Ever since I heard Bobby Flay from the Food Network talk about the importance of using dry cured bacon in a recipe; I have been searching for three years for dry cured bacon in raleigh-cary-durham to no avail. That was until I found the Meat House. Commercially processed pork products are cured with water, salt, sugar and nitrates which is why when you fry up a pound of bacon that costs $4 per pound, what youre left with is more sizzle and pop than bacon which is why you also have to cook the hell out of it otherwise youre left with limp soggy pork belly. Thats not the case with the dry cured bacon @ the Meat House - WARNING: If you like crispy bacon and are accustomed to cooking your bacon until it is crisp, you will burn the bacon and at $9 per pound you may want to heed my advice. Whatever your preferred method of cooking your bacon, be it stove-top, oven or microwave, reduce the time and heat, and watch it like a hawk until you grow accustomed to the new cook time, otherwise it WILL burn. Once youve tried it, youll never buy commercial cured bacon again. They prepare it in a variety of flavors and they are generous with uncooked samples to take home to try. I like the Mesquite Maple, the Jalapeno Pepper and the candied Applewood.

Absolutely fantastic. The only reason I went to this place is because a friend of mine brought some steak tips to a cook out and they were so amazing I wanted to get some for myself. Its conveniently located so that its easy to get to. A friend of mine and I went in and started looking around and I instantly fell in love with the store. It has an old time, welcoming feel to it with the way the store is arranged. They sell break, meats, spices, and much more. It didnt take long for us to locate the Steak Tips we were looking for. I also found a steak tip, pre-made lunch which I grabbed to take to work with me. The woman at the register was extremely friendly and spoke with us for a few moments while she rang up our order. As for the lunch box I got, the steak tips were delicious but the rice wasnt to my liking. To each their own, someone else might love the way the rice was prepped and flavored. I definitely plan on returning to this location when I need some specialty meats or I just want to stop by and grab something. I do have to warn you though, this place is a little pricy, so be prepared to spend a little money. Then again, you pay for what you get and what you get is amazing!

Im appalled at myself for not writing a review for this place already. I grew up in a small neighborhood with a local butcher. We used to go here and get fresh meats and local grocery items. The place I knew is long gone and replaced with chains. The Meat House has really brought me back to that local feel. This place is amazing and their meat selection is unbelievable. The butchers here are very friendly and welcoming. You can also ask for items that arent on display, such as selections of fresh lamb cuts or pork belly slabs and theyll cut it fresh, or order it if its not in stock. They are always open to answering questions and giving advice on food prep and cooking, as well as giving you ideas for a meal. Great place and worth the extra cost.

I went in to the Cary store today to pick up a steak and two pounds of hamburger. I asked that the hamburger be package for the freezer. When the clerk came back with the two pounds wrapped in one package, I said I m sorry I wanted it in one pound packages. He told me in an angry tone, that I needed to know what I wanted before I came in and ordered. I guess I was dumb founded by the way I was berated by this young man. I paid the cashier and left. I am 74 years old, a veteran and have never had anyone speak to me in such a derogatory manner. I will shop elsewhere in the future.

Had the steak of the month club given to me for Fathers Day and it was great. You drop by once a month to try out another selection of their meats for six months. I never had anything but excellence delivered. Their selection of bacon was interesting and worth dropping in to pick up just a couple strips of each kind. I made it a week of bacon with a different kind each day. They also had natural sausage casings if you are into making sausage. The folks behind the counter are very knowledgeable and friendly. Highly recommend.

This has quickly become one of my favorite places in Raleigh/Cary. I went one night to get some marinated steak tips (Amazing btw) and ended up staying there talking to the manager for 45 minutes and walking out with steaks, cheese, wine and beer. Be careful, this place is addicting. I loved it so much I went back the next day to buy more for lunch! The selection is great and the staff is nice and knowledgeable. Plans have already been made for a 3 pound cowboy steak for my birthday. July cant come fast enough!

Ive been to this place a few times now and have not been disappointed. The sample of tips they gave me to bring home to try were awsome (will be getting some more soon) and the cowboy cut rib-eye steak is about the largest steak I have ever eaten..With their cooking recommendations, it came out great...last nights flank steak was a winner too...great place, reasonable prices for the quality and service you get...an all around winner in my book...

I love this place! I called in today to see if someone would be able to pull together some meat for me to pick up at the register quickly so that I could let my 16 month old sleep in the van. Josh was more than willing to help and took care of this for me. In addition to outstanding customer service, the meat is so tender that you cant possibly mess it up when you cook it. Anybody who has not tried this store definitely needs to check it out!

Walked in just browsing last week and spent 30 minutes in there at least! Ian came from behind the counter and spent 10 minutes telling me about the meats, where they come from, how fresh his seafood is, etc. He made me feel the way you WANT to feel when you walk into a store. Welcomed and informed. I will definitely be back. The marinated chicken was amazing and the beef tips were AWESOME. Its pricey but you get what you pay for.

I am new to the area and went into this market after working out at the gym. I was impressed by all the good food and interesting selections. However, my son and I were escorted out by the cashier after paying for our purchase. I had the feeling that she thought we were shoplifting. Maybe it was our gym clothes or we fit some profile but I felt very awkward and will not return, regardless of how good the food was.

Great food but the service is less than desirable. Tried to inquire about the rewards program but the cashier was rude and unwilling to help. No need to get an attitude over something so simple. Not sure if I caught her on an off day or if shes always this grumpy. I shop here a lot but the cashiers at whole foods are a lot more friendly.
