I had one of the WORST customer service experiences today at Barnes and Noble. I wish I had gotten the chance to figure out the name of the employee so I could have complained against management regarding this extremely rude employee. I asked this employee for some assistance in locating a book because this was my first time trying to find an exact book at this Barnes and Noble. I felt like she RELUCTANTLY helped me find the book I was trying to find. She gave me no eye contact and just hands me the book and walks off!!! She never gave me any eye contact or asked if "there is anything else I can help you with". I was actually trying to talk to her right after she handed me the book but she very rudely walked right out of my sight like I was the plague! What is even worse..when I let the woman who scanned the book be aware about this, she DID NOT apologize for the unacceptable behavior of one of her staff members but said "Hope your day goes better". I walked right out of there fast! I was very disappointed with this horrible experience!!!

I have a Barnes and Noble membership and enjoy bringing my son, who prefers print books, to our local store. We recently went to the store to search for a book in his favorite series. This is a big deal for my young reader. Though not available in the store, we were able to order it shipped to our home. This is where the problems began. We were shipped the wrong book, with a packing slip for a woman in Texas. My son wanted this book for a vacation with his Grandparents- long car ride. Barnes and Noble shipping time - 4 days, wrong book. Cue Amazon. Right book 2 days. Returning the wrong book to the store should be easy, yes? Problems with the refund due to the wrong book in my possession costing less than the actual book I ordered?... Solution= gift card- not refund- with no provision for my time returning the book that was shipped at Barnes and Nobles error. This is how a brick and mortar bookstore dies. Disappoint the young readers... and the parents that buy the books.

I can remember a time when this store was the place that I wanted to be. It was beautiful. Now, it feels run down to me. The carpet and paint are showing serious signs of age, there are huge open areas where books used to be that now stand empty, and the furniture -- places where patrons can sit and enjoy reading -- is worn down. I think what bugs me the most is that trying to find things is incredibly difficult -- and the collection feels scattered and unorganized to me. That means I find myself driving right by this location more and more often. Id just as soon buy a book on my phone and read it in a nice coffee shop or bar as stop in here for a paper version. I will say that the people Ive spoken to in this location have all been polite and engaging. They are good employees -- but the facility itself feels like it is failing.

This Barnes and Noble is always well stocked with the newest book releases and is organized so you can find what your lookng for easily. If your in a hurry the checkout process is quick and with a membership you can get a good discount on your puchase. If you have time to lounge around the starbucks inside has plenty of seating with available outlets for electronics and wifi! They serve desserts from the cheesecake factory that are delicious. Its a great place to spend a Sunday or to feel comfortable while studying. They also offer several monthly events that are fun for kids including a summer reading challenge that allows children to earn a free book.

Extremely pushy with their "Book Plan". You want to offer me your plan once that is ok. My answer was no. Second time you told me how much it saved me. My answer was no. Then the third time it was "Let me just tell you". I said I do not want the plan. The teller then gets belligerent. Im not asking you if you want the plan Im simply telling you about it. I then said more abruptly I dont want the plan! The teller persists and continues to go on about it with this smirk on their face. Im sure a lot of people buy it simply because they just want to get out of there. Extremely inappropriate . If my kids werent there I would have told the person off.

Great store. Been going here since I moved to Cary in 2000 and graduated from Cary High School in 2001. Staff are very helpful and there is a huge selection of books and places where you can sit and read the books for a few hours while grabbing refreshments. Took one star off since seating around Starbucks is quite small and not enough outlets but still I am overall satisfied with this location. Just recommend that they add some reclining chairs and more outlets.

I love this Barnes and Noble! They have a great selection and huge cafe seating area to study or have coffee with someone. This is my Zen area for when I just need to calm down and be surrounded by books. (And no to the customer before...the cafe is not a starbucks, big whoop! Who CARES!?! B&N the company buys Starbucks products and sells them..that is why they can use the logo. In the end its the same coffee that you get at any other starbucks so chill out)

This store absolutely needs to ADD SEATING in the cafe area, especially on the weekends!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! There are, as described or generally alluded to, some snobbish, cold-hearted, mean-spirited book clerks here as well. Mike, the Yankees fan, particularly stands out in this category. However, a few are truly friendly, attentive, and helpful. The cafe staff are always friendly and efficient, and the cafe manager (Jason, I believe) is outstanding.

This is the worst store, the employees are rude and snobbish. They are not helpful, the checkout is extremely slow with only one person checking out while pushing down their membership crap down your throat. The checkout woman would not shut up about the membership I guess they get commision. The other time the guy that was checking me out was criticizing and talking down about the book I was getting. I rather pay less and buy from amazon!

I stopped by to grab a new release. I searched for a while as new releases are only stacked on headers and arent in their section yet. The information desk folks were helpful though, and helped me find it right away. I took away a star though because it looks like theyve redesigned the layout, and theyre focusing more on kids stuff, and theyve reduced the seating area. Still a great place to grab a quick book.

They have the comfy chairs again! Its honestly a nice (mostly) quiet place to read and drink tea, though my only complaint is that theres only 2 outlets near the cafe. I think itd be lovely if they could just put a surge protector or extension cord down so more than 4 people can use their laptops while theyre there. Another thing is to put a few tables and chairs in that big empty space near the back.

Horrible Customer Service Experience: Ingrid Campbell, the Community Relations Manager was completely unhelpful and caustic when it came to simply answering a question about a price. She hung up on me two times after I asked for her name to report her to the manager about her treatment of a faithful Barnes and Noble customer. Please reconsider her as your COMMUNITY RELATIONS manager, POOR choice.
