Ok this is hands down the weirdest and most annoying mall Ive ever been to. Dont get it twisted, its beautiful, and it has a Starbucks, a Lego Store and a Whole Paycheck - I mean a Whole Foods store. Before I saw it with my own eyes I refused to believe anyone but people who live in Maine or Vermont actually bought anything besides long johns from LL Bean, but lo and behold, a flagship store in the heart of the rugged wilderness outdoorsy kayaking capital of the world; Yonkers. There are fountains with water displays and for some reason there always seems to be a girl in a one of those long summer dresses wading in it barefoot like its not a filthy cesspool of bird poop and germs. You know, like the one the Go-Gos had to force themselves in and pretend they were having fun in that video they made in the 80s. I think thats all great. Theres a Burger place thats great and what Im assuming is a cuban restaurant that looks like it could challenge La Caridad in Manhattan. Amazing. Thats not all! Theres even... an APPLE STORE. Thats right. You dont have to go further than Yonkers now to make an investment on an iPhone. You can even ask Siri how to get there on your current iPhone and it will tell you its amazing answer for any topic, "Heres what I found on the web for Siri, how do I get to the apple store?" Amazing. Look in the window and youll witness tons of stressed out beyond belief 50-something Yoga moms trying desperately to understand how to work a computer in between running to grab dinner at whole foods and hitting Yoga class. Why do I hate it there so much? That whole place makes my skin crawl. Maybe its because you cant walk two inches without some giant speaker BLARING awful elevator music in your ears, or worse - pop music. Nobody actually SHOPS anymore if they have a bank account and know how to work a computer... whats the point? I find it really annoying to say the least. Who shops in stores anymore other than people without bank accounts or if youre not computer savvy, or if youre absolutely desperate for that one item. Its annoying. Theres always police everywhere like as if the President is there shopping, watching you like a hawk - its uncomfortable and honestly what kind of moron would try and rob that place? If I was a thief I thats the LAST place I would rob. Why are they there other than to terrorize everyone with their super macho stances? Ill pass. Then should you finally find your way upstairs its like they completely forgot to decorate. Its Bizarre, considering all the places I ever need to go (one place lol) is on the second floor but I cant remember how to get up there, and Ill be damned if Im going to let the screaming map screen tell me where it is - I find the place abrasive. All that and the people that actually live there are always walking their dogs and jogging - I always want to ask them, whats it like living in a mall? Can you hear these speakers from your apartment?

Place could use some improvement, but first heres a little history. Before there was Ridge Hill, it was nothing but a giant parking lot with an old factory on the hill. I cant recall what the name of it was, but it mustve been pretty important. Around 2011, however, that changed. The Movie Theater came first, marking it as the most essential and go-to place for any resident or tourist of Suburban New York. As time passed, a lot of changes, whether it be big or small, have been made not only to the stores, but to Ridge Hill itself. For example, that hunk of iron kid playground wasnt actually in the shade. It was moved so that in the summertime, it wouldnt gain a lot of heat, so that was a smart move on their part unlike most iron statues like the ones in Central Park (looking at you, Alice). Anyways, as Ive mentioned before, the place could use some improvement in specific areas such as food and entertainment. There is a Walgreens, but that is strictly for medication and not retail. Restaurants like Little Buddha, Cheesecake Factory, QDOBA, Haagen Dazs (?), etc. and stores like T.J. Maxx and a few others (some of which closed down or on holiday rotation (i.e. a Halloween store opening all October) havent been doing so well. One caveat Id like to point out is regarding Elevation Burger. I dont eat burgers anymore, but its like eating a ball of grease. My suggestion is that even though Ridge Hill is a work in progress, I do think there are some stores that arent doing so well. Id actually like to see some Einstein Bros., Noodles and Co., Panera Bread, Pizza Fusion, etc. restaurants just to make the place feel more...alive. As for retails, L.L. Bean and REI are a start, so thats very good. However, a Nordstrom would be very beneficial to Ridge Hill, as it would offer a great many brands akin to Lord and Taylor, but much better. A Barnes and Noble and the aforementioned Walgreens Pharmacy are among some of the best places that would be beneficial to Ridge Hill. Overall, I give this place a 4 because even though it has huge potential to become big, it still has a long way to go.

The movie theater is nice but the workers are very lax. We went there today and when we got to the concession stand there were 2 female workers all the way on the other side talking and not bothering to look to see if customers were at the counter. My husband had to wave and call to ask is anyone working the counter or are they all on break? The movie theater plays the coming attractions so loud like the theater is full and everyone is talking. Its ridiculous and bad for your ears. I dont know why they feel that is necessary even if the theater is full because the door is closed and the theater really isnt that big. I wish they would do better with lowering the volume and having more professional workers at the concession stands. I forgot about the female bathrooms, we went to an early movie 1015am. I had to go to the bathroom before the movie was finished and like 6 stalls had issues where they werent flushed properly and one looked like someone blew up in there. Thats so nasty. This is the 2nd time I have been to an early movie last time it was later 1115am or so and the bathroom stalls were filthy and had no toilet paper. The bathrooms says a lot about your establishment. Disgusting they need to get a bathroom attendant. Just because of the bathroom 1 star. Bathrooms mean everything. CLEAN YOUR BATHROOM and stalls smell like the bus depot bathrooms. Get some nice smelling cleaner.

I really want to like Ridge Hill -- its so convenient to have good shopping, dining and entertainment options nearby -- but I cant because its just too sketchy and I dont feel safe taking my kids there anymore. First, while Ridge Hill is supposedly non-smoking, I have seen on several occasions people smoking there. Second, the traffic situation is a bit scary. Pedestrians are supposed to have the right away, and yet Ive found cars going through the intersections there not really paying attention to people crossing the street. Finally, and again related to traffic, I was rear ended while STOPPED at a red light there (because people drive like maniacs going through there) and Ridge Hill security said they have no traffic cameras recording the area. So, while Ridge Hill does provide a lot of the things that I would enjoy in terms of shopping and entertainment, I cant continue to go there. They need to significantly step up their security, both with on-foot security/officers that patrol the shopping area/parking lots and traffic cops/cameras. Given that they are adding stores and getting bigger, I cant imagine this getting better unless they are prepared to dedicate resources to keeping pedestrians and drivers safe.
