The Appletree is very convenient for those of us who live in the area because it is open 24 hours. The product selection is good for its size. However many of the prices at the Appletree are outrageous. A box of Strawberries cost $5 at the Appletree, and if you go to other supermarkets around (Westside Market, Met) you buy them for less than $3. Once I bought an apple there, just for a snack, and it cost me $1.20. A bag of grapes, $8. In addition, a lot of the prices are not displayed correctly and it is really hard to figure out how much each product costs when you take it off the shelf. Milk is 20%-30% more expensive than at the Met, two blocks down. The additional bad factor about the Appletree is its deli. Out of the 3 times I ordered there, the food always tasted like old. The selection of the deli never changes much either. I think that they take advantage of their location and hours of operation in a manner that is not good for their business, and for what I know, a lot of my friends that live in the are also just shop there for emergency/last minute stuff, never for full groceries.

This 24 hour monopoly location seems to have become oblivious to the comfortably seated and dressed panhandlers facing the entrance on the wrong side of the bus stop. In particular one round spectacle wearing thug who barks "gimme a dollar" before I walk in. Management tonight countered with " how do I know what they do?" I had just told him. Oblivious. Get maybe a good deal here and there but the college credit cards swipe away at many inflated prices. Shame, been here since 66 and this is the worst. Get the panhandlers away from your goldmine.

Coming from the suburbs, you might find this supermarket a little cramped and disorganized. However, they have a great selection of health foods and vegetarian/vegan delights if you can find them. A lot of the products dont have prices on them so you may be a little surprised when you hear your total at the check-out counter. I dont plan to frequent this grocery store because the prices are way too high ($6 for a 1 lb. bag of Jasmine rice - sheesh!) and my little fold-able shopping cart is still too big for aisles.

As a deli, Apple Tree is top notch, as a Supermarket, it is fair at best. Apple Tree offers a wide variety of sandwiches, and freshly tossed salads. They are quick and dont cheat you on the the meats or cheeses. Prices are on par with most of the delis in the area, maybe a touch higher (but justified given the quality). The supermarket section is an entirely different story, produce is terrible (far from ripe), and the selection of baking goods, and other normal supermarket items is limited.

That is a hilarious photo that comes up for the store. Had a breakfast sandwich there today, which was good, but the chef clearly didnt hear me say to toast the bagel. The cashier didnt know the price and had to call the chef (via landline) in order to ring me out. Seems a little out of date. Other than that, worse selection for groceries than other markets in Morningside Heights. Hours arent great either, but it is the furthest south market on Amsterdam, making it the only choice at times.

I really like the Appletree Market because it is cute and convenient. I also love their baked goods, except that twice now Ive bought pastries from their deli/bakery department that are too stale to eat. One was a scone that was hard and crumbly, and today I bought a slice of carrot cake so stale I couldnt eat it. So that was a waste of money and I hope the store learns to rotate out its pastries as they age.

My favorite hot sandwich in the city. I havent been impressed with their cold sandwiches (you could easily make the same thing at home), but I havent had a bad hot sandwich from them, My favorite right now has grilled chicken, thick slices of fresh mozzarella, grilled red peppers, on a garlic-toasted hero. I eat it all the time.

This is a good deli to pick up a few items if Im in a hurry. I wouldnt do any significant grocery shopping here though because its too expensive. Ive literally seen prices jump over a dollar on items in just a week. I also love that they resell Walmart branded items at a significant markup.

A good prepared food section / deli with a small supermarket attached. Sandwiches and salads at the deli are well made and decently priced. Supermarket has a good selection for its size. Checkout can be a bit of a pain, especially during the lunchtime hours.

It is good place for a quick bite. Nice salad bar and sandwiches station, although not so good quality in some of the ingredients. As supermarket, is not so good, expensive and I have had problems with expired dairy products (normally experied several days).

This place has most of the grocery one would need on a daily business. The prices are too high even compared to West Side Market on Broadway — but if you live around Amsterdam and 120 this is truly convenient. Very helpful and nice staff.

Great selection of prepared foods and deli items. And I truly enjoy that they have a salad section in their deli area. Its also nice to see the owners out and about in the store either chatting with customers and/or working the register.

I think this place is ok. Still miss my old neighbor Key Food, but besides the lack of variety of brands and less organized price tags, I think this place has fairly reasonable prices and good product portfolio.

Open 24/7 with a surprising variety of groceries, household goods and school supplies. The convenient little deli and beer selection also make it a must for any college student, bachelor or local.

I like everything about this place. Its a small high quality store on one side, and a fairly good deli on the other side. There is a wide array of things you can buy here and theyre open 24 hours.

Try Lams Sweet Maduro. This dried banana/plantain is so fulfilling. And what more can you ask when a 24h supermarket is already your dream? Im from Ithaca, haha.

Decent place to do grocery shopping. Slightly more expensive than Met foods which is nearby, but you get better quality stuff. Great bakery too...

The standard 24 hour NYC bodega. Avoid the chicken salad, potato salad, and macaroni salad. Some of the sandwiches are pretty good.

Expensive, not really good quality products. But it can be enough for a quick bite or late night and last minute groceries purchase.

Great salad and burgers. You need to wait for some time before the burgers are ready, when you can browse the goods in the shop.

Nice selection of vegetarian and organic foods for lunch. A bit pricey and always busy a lunch but a solid option in the area
