I went to Brooklyn General today and was greeted, then spent 20 minutes happily browsing, then was asked if I needed help. Also allowed to use their bathroom. Entirely fine experience, and they have lovely stuff. Their roster of classes is now? on a blackboard behind the register, and they also have spinning equipment. I will return.....and also stop again at The Coffee Den on the corner.

I loved visiting this store. The interior may be as it was in times past but the merchandise is modern and interesting. I bought some blue wren fabric and would love to visit more often but unfortunately my home is a long distance from Brooklyn. If you are a visitor to New York, the shop is easily accessible from Carroll St station and is well worth a visit.

The store in my neighborhood closed and so I tried out this place. The options of fabrics are very minimal. Basic cotton prints, but no specialty fabrics or textured options. Also I agree with everyone on this review site that they are not the most accommodating our friendly employees there. You really have to work hard to get them to warm up and help you.

This seems to be a knitting store. When I visited I was not greeted, there was a clique of knitters sitting and chatting, I could not figure out who was an insider and who was an outsider, so I didnt even bother asking questions. My trek there was to explore the quilting fabric, of which they have very little. There were lovely yarns, though. No restroom.

They have lots of yarn and some wool for felting, and a limited supply of felt and cottons. They have some cute cotton prints here. They are however, running a very short supply or good manners. I was treated as if I was in the way and an inconvenience even though I purchased a great deal of product. Very put off by this experience.

I do not knit, sew or quilt but if I did this is the place I would hang out at! Brought my other mother here to look around and she loved it. Everyone is very friendly. There is a place for us guys who dont know anything about this stuff to sit down and relax. Very beautiful store.

Was not greeted when I walked in and didnt acknowledge that I was even there, so customer service is crappy. They did have a nice arrangement of yarn and anything else crafty you can think of, white that being said, they didnt get my money!

I love BG--it is my first stop for yarn, or just knitterly fun. Also a great supply of fabrics. The owners and staff are the nicest people ever--the whole vibe here is very laid back, relaxed, and natural.
