Best organic and fresh fruit offerings in the JC area. They keep the produce section neatly organized and stocked with colorful and fresh fruits and vegetables -- both organic and conventional. I love that they also stock organic cereals (for my 6 and 12 year old) and you can find a good peppering of organic products throughout the store. The store overall is very clean and well managed. I also love their incentive programs -- Im trading in my 50 bonus stickers for a free Farberware pot. And I just signed up for the gas rewards loyalty program -- what a great way to save money on gas for just purchasing my everyday items. I wont even touch ShopRite -- that place is bananas and needs a complete overhaul. Now I have a good option to get items locally between my weekly trips to Whole Foods and Trader Joes. Thank God!

I agree with the other review regarding pricing - overall, the prices are cheaper than the A&P this Acme replaced. That said, Ive noticed a proportional decrease in the overall quality and selection of the produce, meats, and other items (though still better than Shop Rite). I would categorize this supermarket as middle of the road in downtown Jersey City. They also need to do something with the checkout lanes. They got rid of the self check out lanes but dont keep enough lanes open especially during peak hours. Like Shop Rite down the street be prepared to wait.

One of the most infuriating grocery trips I ever had. I will never go here again. The employees are friendly and helpful enough, but for some reason they have decided to rearrange their entire layout!! No one can find ANYTHING and NOTHING is labeled correctly. The employees on the floor I feel the worst for. They are taking the brunt of the customers frustrations. Why would you do this to them? Plus, the produce is outrageously expensive and SOAKED in water. #gross

Prices are not competative compared to the Shop-Rite the other end of the road. The queues tend to border on the long side here since they have either very slow cashiers, or, not enough. The store is quite empty generally and is rather a nice experience without the crowd. However, that waiting in the queue is very offputting. Empty grocery, but long waits for checkout. Not alluring at all.

We just moved to JC from Manhattan and were so happy to have found this place. Finally a place where you can find what you want without having to fight through the crowds at prices that are reasonable. The other supermarkets in our area are either way too crowded and disorganized (ShopRite) or way overpriced (Morton Williams).

This place is really sad since A&P closed. I would give it a lower score but the employees make it okay. There is always a wait at checkout and I have waited over 30 minutes just to pay. Not sure why they took out the self service checkout counters. At times, the shelves seem to be empty. However, this place does offer parking.

Amazing people. I was in store few days before and I always buy fruit for my smoothy from ACME but on that day I left my Bag with Blackberry which I paid and today September 1 I went back and I said to the cashier that I left my bag and he gave me 2 box of Blackberry free it was so nice. I recommend this place to everyone.

We had high hopes when we heard A&P was being replaced. Unfortunately, its the same over-priced (sometimes ridiculous) produce and other items, a shortage of cashiers and long lines. Youre better off going to Shop-Rite. ACMEs days are numbered, hopefully they wake up, or disappear.

They open at 7am but theres no personnel at the deli section to do a sandwich. The lady doing inventory will not even make eye contact or acknowledge your presence. Im sure thats not good business practice.

Disgusting, it seemed like drug deals were going on in the parking lot around me, I felt unsafe. I got inside and it was dirty and dingy and everything seemed old. I would not go back.

I regularly find that fruit I have bought goes bad very quickly, milk sour before expiration, etc. Poor quality. Now will be shopping at ShopRite.
