The place recently underwent some sort of "renovation". You cant tell from the looks of it because the "renovation" made the aisles even more narrow and the terrible smell at the entrance of the store only got worse. I used to come here fairly frequently since I work in the area but never again after my most recent trip in April 2014. Reasons: Nasty odor upon entering the store; a lot of the "fresh" meat do not seem fresh; same goes for the vegetables; some of their packaged goods are brands Ive never heard of and I suspect are cheap products from China instead of better brands from Hong Kong, Taiwan, Japan, or Korea; no one bothers to clean up outside the store so theres a chance of being swept up in a garbage tornado on windy days. I feel bad for the nice sushi place inside the same mall. Must be terrible dealing with such horrible landlord/fellow-tenant. They run a nice 10% off promotion on Tuesdays and of course, the lunchtime crowds flock there. Yet, they will only have two cashiers working. I spent a longer time waiting in line to check out than it took me to shop. With quite a few Asian grocery stores to choose from in a ten mile radius, I rather just go to H-Mart and Kam Man in Edison than this garbage dump.

Recent visit to the market, cashier was very mean and nasty, poor customer service skill...well ..no skill I should say, very insulting the way she treated me, she thought I got something under the cart, she put the last two bags to my cart, which they dont usually do that, and she look around, and around, thinking I am stealing their stuff, and when I give her cash, she hold it very high and look for long time, the people behind me think I am a thief...I told her cash just got it from the bank, she said "I only want to look, what is your problem" Gees....she is lound and rude, dont go to her, she is skinny , not ware glasses, early 30, 55", she scares me....dont want to go back, no one deserve this kind of insult from a retail store. Some of the cashier been great and friendly, even the people in that food court, they should get way of this kind of Cahier, price almost the same in all Asian market, end up is down to service.

My husband and I frequent this store quite a bit. I only go there for certain things, but whatever we buy is always good, especially their cabbage and bok choy. However, since when does a grocery store allow dogs inside? I am an animal lover, and no disrespect to anyone who owns a dog, but as we were checking out, the people that worked there allowed dogs to sit on the conveyor belt where food was being placed. I think it is very unsanitary, and it should not continue. It makes me think twice before ever going there again. It is a shame because we really like it there.

Dont understand all the negative reviews. As one reviewer said, this is not Whole Foods. As a matter of fact, not many grocery stores are. You cant beat the price and selection for Asian groceries at this place. The veggies are always fresh and the prices are outstanding. Hugh selection of dry goods and prices are so much cheaper than the local Asian grocers in Bergen and Morris counties. I come here 4 times a year to load up. The pastry shop sells very fresh Chinese buns also. This place offers Chinatown prices without having to travel to NYC.

I went in for 1 thing, fresh tumeric root...it was NOT fresh. Shriveling and moldy...while I looked for the root, I noticed other fruits looked overripe and some decaying/moldy/dry...could not believe a store would let produce set out for so long. Leaves a bad impression. Dry goods seemed okay however. Green tea cakes tasted good. But I will not be going back....store was very dirty.

If you dont speak or read Chinese or Asian this is a very difficult and unfriendly place. They have hot food and lunch specials but very difficult to understand what they are serving. Can goods had expiration dates that already past. Trying to get someone to help you is very difficult as very few people speak English and this is in America

日本食を作るのに必要な食材がある程度揃うのでたまに買い物に行きます。 野菜は鮮度の悪いものなどがあり、日によって良い時悪い時があります。 あまり綺麗ではない。

Poor quality of veggies and fish isnt fresh like it used to be. I bought there ice cream in the freezer section and it was expired back in April.... its July now. Be careful make sure you check the dates ! I rather drive out to Manhattan Chinatown to do my food shopping or go to Ranch 99 in Edison !

Great to use in the area for some shopping needs occurring outside usual sync.Others may enjoy the service more.Catering greatly to Asian population and culture. All American could find difficulty of usual requests of established familiar supermarkets.Service request can meet language barrier.

Huge selection with many authentic Chinese cooking stuffs. Staff went out of their way to help me look for a few things and took orders for some of the brands they didnt have. VERY happy I can have access to such variety after coming from China.

we bought a rice cooker appliance from here and found out it was defective upon comparing it to an older rice cooker of similar working. do not buy appliances here. it was a waste of money when we could have bought it somewhere else.

Buy bad fast food, again!. Last Saturday bought a bag of BaoZi, today find it is bad. I kept in 4c all the time. It is definite response of the Hong Kong Supermarket. Last time I bought a bag of Jiaozi, same problem. Hate it.

The store has almost everything you would want but the staff is HORRIBLE and extremely rude. I will find another store where I can better service. It is sad that Chinese people dont know how to give customer service.

Отличный рыбный и мясной отдел, все свежее и недорогое. Все остальное так себе.

I drive in from Pennsburg, Pa. once every month or so when we need the best of Chinese provisions. The Hong Kong Market is simply the best market in the area. Better than even the Philadelphia Oriental Market.

$5 minimum for credit card transactions. 10% off almost everything on Tuesdays. The food court only accepts cash. The produce and meat areas are smelly, but the rest of the store smells fairly neutral.

Lots of parking. Huge and fresh selection of vegetables, seafood and meat. Its one of the best and most reasonable Asian (Chinese primarily) supermarkets.

Sometimes they got good stuff with low prices, but its hard to tell what the quality of food you got since they dont put expiration date on the package.

Good for specialty items if you know what youre looking for. Not much help is provided by staff but overall a great place to get tricky to find items.

The workers are under paid and over worked. Just go in and get what you need. Win, win all around. This is not Whole Foods market.

Dirty, veggie are ok. Some are on the verge of expiring. Open 365 day. Last resort if your regular supermarket is closed or to far.

Chinese food is good, but bottle water is a little expensive, $10 to use credit card. For western food, I would recommend Walmart.
