AFM of Plainsboro is a great place to shop for Chinese food products. The produce section carries a large selection of fruits and vegetables at lower prices than most supermarkets and are always fresh. Along with traditional produce found in supermarkets, youll also be able to choose from a large assortment of Asian fruits and vegetables, at a much lower cost than other stores that sell them as specialty items. The seafood section is always clean with no bad odors since the fish is always fresh. The butchers at the meat counter are quick to help customers and every week thwy have something on sale. Great time to stock up on cuts of meat. Wide variety of sauces and condiments from East and South East Asia. Dried and preserved vegetables, fresh and dried noodles, kitchen utensils, a prepared food section and bakery round out the shopping experience very well. This is one of my go to spots to stock up on many things every couple of weeks.

I love going to this place (the Plainsboro branch). It is an adventure in a foreign land. Most everything is labeled in asian language of one variety or another. Great place to buy a variety of either dried or fresh mushrooms at reasonable prices. Ginger root is also a best buy. They have a lot of asian greens that look very fresh. Green onions are always fresher and much cheaper than grocery stores ... 3 bunches/$1.19 last time I went. I dont buy any meat or fish here. Unfortunately I discovered their fresh bakery items, soo good. Not the stuff in the cases, the stuff on racks. SO many buns made with creamy coconut. They have a large scallion naan-type bread baked fresh for $2.50. Their takeout food section has a wiiiide selection of very tasty foods at prices ranging $5-$7/lb, with a great combo selection too. I love the ma po tofu. Not brave enough to try the chicken feet or beef tendon.

In Asian Food Market, Plainsboro store, there is a female staff with medium-length hair, wearing glass, 5 feet and 2 inches-ish tall, body shape is a little bit overweight, age from 35-45, and she is responsible for bread and deli areas, sometime she will speak Cantonese. This staff is very rude and treats me with her arrogant attitude every time I ask her something about product. If you will shop there, please aware this, and don’t let her ruin your day and shopping experiences. For me, I think the reason why she holds this super bad attitude is because she can have her own time during work time to chat and rest without “bothering” to serve customers – because customers will feel “intimidated” by her attitude and turn to other nice staff to ask questions about product. Asian Food Market was one of my favorite market in this area, please don’t let this staff to push me away!

I personally like 美東超市. Its a pretty convenient full-scale Asian Market. It does help that I know some Mandarin when it comes to ordering something from the fresh food counters or explaining something to the cashier. If you get something from the bakery, sometimes good to know what its called, many of the buns look the same from the outside but some have different prices. Try the sesame balls with red bean paste, so good! I like the bbq pork bun, its usually the farthest to the left of all the buns, but when I get it from the rack or warmer thing sometimes its already getting cold, so thats a little sad. I often come at lunchtime, so not sure when they make them. They also at the bakery have desserts, one time I tried an extra large cupcake sized panda cake

Since Ive last visited this Asian Food Market, I noticed that the cashiers all their individual name tags and are assigned to wear employee uniforms. This really raises the level of professionalism in the workplace, even with this slight alternation. Additionally, the employees at the bakery are all wearing hats to reduce the risk of food contaimination, which is a precaution that has never been implemented before. This change really shows that the store is taking more advance measures to prevent food borne illnesses. The prices are still fairly cheaps and the quality of food is what you would expect. Highly recommended for fresh Asian groceries and asian snacks!

Have been going to this establishment for many years. The fish and the meat are probably the best sellers. Of course there is the typical wide assortment of Asian greens and fruits including the ramen and numerous condiments. They also have a Chinese food area where you can order a variety of Chinese snacks, desserts, meals, and duck. I believe they recently also began selling bubble tea. The bathrooms are fine and are in the back. Not the best but dont go and except to have an amazing dump and have 4 ply toilet paper. Otherwise I recommend shopping at this place.

I have been here a total of 3 times . . . oops twice. The third time I arrived at 7:50 and the doors were locked. I could not believe it since the store closes at 8 pm. Other stores wait until their closing time before locking all doors. Do not find they have a hugh selection but needed something to cooki that evening. Needless to say, I went to ShopRite. I dont think I will visit Asian Food Market again even though they are within walking distance.

I have only ever had their prepared foods so I cannot speak for the grocery store itself. However the food is fairly and cheap and pretty good. For about 7 dollars you get a lot of food. I am not the smallest of people, so I eat a lot. Typically a meal from The Asian Food Market fills me up for a few hours. Sometime a little too much. I would recommend this place to anyone that want a filling meal without spending too much money.

WARNING! CAREFULLY CHECK THE EXPIRATION DATE OF YOUR FOOD AND DRINK! Bought some tea from this store two weeks ago. Just found the expiration date was 10 month ago, Nov. 2015. BTW, when I tried to return the tea to the store, the cashier said I have to return it with receipt. Who the fking keep a $12 teas receipt two weeks? The tea is still on the shelf for sale today, 9/13/2016

If I could give it a -0 start I will! Very bad experience. At the seafood dept. no one knows English. I got yelled at by the guy cutting the fish all because he couldnt understand that I wanted my fish to be cut in half. He yelled as if I was someone that didnt know any English. (In his foreign language.) That is unacceptable. Terrible place. Never coming back again.!!

My experience has been good so far since moving to NJ for work. I was expecting to just find food here, but they actually have quality East Asian style household items produced in Taiwan or Japan (not made in China). I picked up some things that I thought I could only find in NY or DC. I only wish they open a little earlier so that I could pop in before work.

Be careful with this guy if are buying fish at Asian market in Plainsboro. Obviously he doesnt understand English and literally yelling at people. It seems, several people complained but I guess as usual cheap jobs and illegal immigrants like him are not replaceable. Other guys are helpful though.

I go there mainly for the Asian vegetables and cooking ingredients but their produce quality isnt always good. On several occassions, ive noticed that they mark their (package) date one day late on their leaf vegetable bag, so you will need to take that into account after you buy it home.
