Why I LOVE the Clinton Book Shop: * Its such a warm and friendly place. Always a great store to walk into, have a nice chat with the owners, and leave with a great book! *Their book recommendations are expert and intuitive, no matter what the genre. Their love of books is infectious. *These guys dispel the myth of "too expensive to buy indie". They offer discount memberships, coupons, discount days, stamp cards, Facebook Flash Sales... They make it easy avoid the big box store and still pay a reasonable price for books. *The customer service is attentive and personalized. No matter what your bizarro request, theyll search for it, order it, get it to the store, then call you when its ready to pick up. (not send you to a big corporate web site like some other big, faceless stores, ahem) *Kids section is cozy and bright. Its the perfect place for kids to hang out and select their own reading treasures. Great selection for both littles and older kids. (their Young Adult selection, by the way, is often appealing to grown ups as well as teens!) *Their book signings and events are amazing. How did they build such a terrific rapport with authors and publishers in order to get stellar authors into our small area of NJ? Big events, smaller signings, there are diverse book happenings to appeal to a different readers with various interests. *Diverse Book Clubs. Youd be hard pressed to NOT find one that suits you. *Clinton Books is dedicated to our local community. They give back to their customer base by supporting area groups. One not so small post script: Harvey and Rob are always creatively finding new ways to stay competitive and maintain their level of success. I am a reader who prefers reading a real book, and had never purchased an e-book before. A few days prior to a long plane ride, I was able to go through their web site and buy an e-book, while still supporting my favorite book sellers! How cool is that?

I just placed on order for a book on The Clinton Book Shop website. I ordered the book and paid, expecting this store to have the book I was looking for. 24 hours later I receive an email notifying me that they had to cancel the order because, and I quote, "Unfortunately that book is not in print and used copies are going for extremely high prices. Therefore we will need to cancel the order." After calling and talking with someone named Harvey, I believe Harvey Finkel, he told me that they do not have the book that I bought from their website saying to me, and again I quote, "we can look for the book for you. But we do not have the book. This is how we operate". That is the most pathetic excuse for not selling a book they are advertising for sale. If there ever was an unscrupulous book seller this would be the top shop. BUYER BEWARE. THIS IS AN EXTREMELY POOR BUSINESS and they will NOT guarantee that any order you place will be fulfilled.

The man who runs this book shop was very mean to me and my beloved mother. She ordered several books as Christmas presents for our friends and family members. As Christmas came closer we didnt hear about the books she ordered. 3 days prior she called to ask about them and the owner couldnt be bothered. Apparently he was too busy to be concerned for our purchases and came off very rude during the whole process. Their selection is pretty good even in my opinion although I am not a strong reader.

As a local I love this place. Rob and Harvey are as helpful as can be. I had to laugh at the guy who complained they were rude because he was talking on his cell phone! People go there to read and browse books! If intelligence makes the place elitist then Im all for it!

The Clinton Book Shop is a decent, local, fairly small bookstore. I will say however that the staff are not friendly or welcoming.

Have asked for specific books. If not in stock, they will get for you in a short time and call you when in. Very helpful.
