Went in there for a tongue piercing and automatically the guy that was piercing my tongue was very bland and slugish was not comforting at all and look like he did not want to be there at all!!! Now onto the procedure to get my tongue pierced , while in the middle of talking pushes the needle through my tongue! Was very rough while tightening the ball really didnt tell me how to take care of it and kind of just sent me on my way....now I knew there would be swelling but my tongue swelled so bad that the ball disappeared in the bottom into my tongue! I did go back to the gentleman to get it checked out and he told me the bar was not big enough soo it had to come out!! My problem is why did you not Measure or look at my tongue to make sure the bar was big enough and still have room in case of major swelling!!!! On top of that he pierced it wrong and pierced it on an angle!!!The only good thing about that situation is he gave me my money back!!!! But now I have to wait a month to go to a PROFESSIONAL and get it re-pierced!!!!

To start off, Empire Tattoo has the friendliest staff ever. I have gone to other shops with the intention of discussing a new tattoo or getting a piercing in the past, and felt like an outsider or that I was bothering the employees because I walked through the door. Apparently not having visible tattoos is frowned upon. Anyways.. every person who has been at the front desk at Empire has been laid back and really helpful to me. If you are early for your appointment, people will always chat and make you feel welcome. I had been following the work of Mike Sedges for months, knowing that I wanted another tattoo, but couldnt decide exactly what I wanted. He will work with you until you absolutely love the design. Mike is truly an artist and proud of all his work. Empire is filled with talented artists, each with their own unique style. I am beyond happy with my experience here and recommend this shop to people all the time.

I had an awful experience with this shop. I went in on a whim (probably my first mistake) to get a small piece done. The artist they assigned to me look like he was still in grade school, but I let it go. The design was so simple I didnt think someone could screw it up, but I was wrong. The work was shaky, uneven, and just plain amateurish. They also charged me at least $40 more than it was worth (but it was a Sunday and a lot of shops were closed so I was desperate). When I went back a month later to complain and get it fixed, the guys said the original artist was the only one who could touch it up, even though I was so unhappy with his work. I ended up going to another shop to get my tattoo touched up and now it looks amazing. My new artist said, "Wow, I wish I could grossly overcharge to do a chop job." Seriously, find another shop.

I followed Matt Doherty to Empire Tattoo when he moved to the Blackwood/Clementon location. Matt has been my go-to tattoo guy for years now and all but two of my tats are his. He is a remarkable, free-hand artist. I go in with a simple idea (a koi fish) and the man creates works of art that get me compliments everywhere I go (an entire lower leg sleeve). The shop itself is always exceptionally clean. The staff are fun, friendly people who answer any and all of your questions with a smile and make you feel welcome and comfortable. Their pricing is like many other shops (around $100 an hour or so with a minimum of $60) and they require a $100 deposit at the time of your appointment. Matt Doherty and Empire Tattoo definitely have me as a repeat customer and Matt knows Ill always be back for more ink!

Ive had piercings & tattoos done here. Empire is the only place I will trust to help me design and execute the tattoos I want. Ive had a cover up done and was very satisfied. Ive been a walk in plenty of times and have never had a problem getting new ink done that day. Every time someone compliments my tattoos and asks where I get them done I never hesitate to recommend Empire Tattoo in Laurel Hill, NJ. I have a dermal piercing on my cheek bone that I need removed for a medical procedure. I had it done here and totally trust them to remove it successfully. I need two back surgeries to be done in the next twelve months & when the scar tissue has healed enough I plan on coming here to invest in a full back piece. Looking forward to working with your very talented artists once again .....

I really had a great experience along with two other family members who went as well. I didn't know for sure what I was getting (not my first tatt, more like my 9th) my family did so they went first, from a picture taken many years ago they guy drawled it just as we all seen it, it turned out amazing, (her first tatt)next one was pretty simple (initials) very fancy came out amazing as well. ( second tatt) Then mine, I knew where I wanted it and what it was to stand for so the guy was very excited to drawl it up on his own mine took close to two hours. I love it and so does everyone else! The price was right and they were very clean. None of us had any problems. Matter of fact we are all going back soon!!

Made an appointment with a friend, was told both could be done in the same day. They had to reschedule mine due to time constraints. The artist didnt start until two hours after our appointment time. That was fine, I understood. I reschedule for the week after, alone this time. I get a call to confirm my appointment the day before. I show up on my appointment day, to find that the artist had called out of work. The shop never called me to tell me. Had to find out myself. Extremely unprofessional, at least the people were nice.

HORRIBLE Experience! Went to get a tattoo with my two friends and first was told it would be a 45 min wait. When I showed the front desk assistant they told me that my simple tattoo design had to be 10x bigger and never got to see an artist to ask them or see their opinion. So I said no to mine. We waited 2.5 hours to get told no to the second friends ratio of a simple band around his calf. And the front desk staff was the only one talking to us! NEVER talked to an artist for any of the tattoos!!! DO NOT GO HERE!

Matt and Raphael came to somerville Ma,not just professionals but absolutly incredible artists that take great pride in the work they do..ive been to some hacks in fact matt is doing incredible cover up work on me..and Raphael gave my son his first tattoo ..i still cant believe the detail and workmañship when i look at his tattoo these guys rock and they got customers for life atleast til i run out of space to drop ink

Been awhile since Ive gotten a tattoo from there but for 4 years my go to guy is Ruben, he is amazing with black and grey and he knows how to take my simple designs and turn them into a works of art, im always getting compliments and asked who does my tats, i couldnt ask for a better artist to do my tattoos. Shop is such a friendly staff and care about their customers too just overall a great environment.
