No Ka Oi Tattoo shop not only provided me with the best tattoo I have ever gotten (thanks Anna Paige!) but also the best service at any store in my life! Right from the beginning Anna Paige made sure that we were both on the exact same page. She worked with my ideas and drew up a couple of ideas. The day of the tattoo we spent a lot of time ironing out the details to make sure that I got exactly what I wanted. She made sure that I was comfortable with every decision and did not rush me through at all. It is a very comforting feeling to know that they care about how you feel about their artwork rather than just getting your money...this is what you can expect from this shop! I spent about 5 hours in the shop that day and the whole time everyone in the shop was laughing and having a good time. Also, every single person that left the shop left with a smile on their face and many thanks. Bottom line is, if you want to get the best tattoo possible, go to this shop (especially Anna Paige, she rocks!) AND if you want to get the best service, go to this shop. No other place will ever compare to No Ka Oi, other than maybe the Hawaii shop of course! Thanks again ladies, I will definitely see you again!!!

I highly recommend this place. I walked into the shop yesterday with an idea but unsure of exactly the final design should be. Jen (my artist) and Kate (the friendly gal at the front) discussed my idea with me and expanded the concept beyond what I could possibly have imagined. Jens talent and creativity are unmatched by the 5 other artists I have gone to for ink. Her friendliness while working was greatly appreciated while she tattooed down my spine (not exactly a comfortable place to be tattooed!) and she completed the piece much more quickly than I expected. The overall experience was great. She works fast, is very friendly and candid, and is an amazing artist. I would love to go back have her fill out my back (a work in progress) although she is a visiting artist who will return to Hawaii in a few weeks... which just means Ill have to make it to the Aloha State! While I was waiting, I got to check out the progress of the two other artists working at the time and it was clear they were very talented as well. One was working on a large, intricate piece, and the other on a piece with varied colors throughout. Both did fantastic work. Go here for your next tattoo!! It will be so worth it. (=

After being laughed at by four male artists including Dave Fox about a cover-up, I walked in to NoKaOi expecting the same treatment. I was nearly misty-eyed when Cindy and the other ladies told me my cover-up was hopeful and Cindy consulted with me several times to find the perfect design to work. She never treated me like what a mistake you made or that was a dumb tattoo and made suggestions as to what would cover best. Even when I said, Nah I dont want that or that Cindy kept thinking and working on finding something I would like. eventually we created something magic and after 5 years of horrible disfigurement, I now have something I can be proud of. Totally not pretentious! Cindy made me feel so comfortable that I even wasnt afraid to ask her to go back over something with more ink or tell her I didnt like a particular sketch. She said, Its your body, I want you to be happy. And I so AM. THANK YOU!!!!! Oh and the other ladies are funny and very warm. Parker is great, Ozzie, everyone. I really like it here. Two Paws Up!

Worst piercing experience Ive ever had and I didnt even get anything pierced! I never write reviews... especially bad ones but I want to warn people about the piercer who changed out my nose piercing yesterday. Ive had my nose done multiple times and I didnt think someone changing it out would hurt as badly as it did. She didnt clean the inside of my nose or the piercing and didnt offer me any type of cleaning solution for it afterwards. She was also really rude to my sister who was also a potential customer and made her wait downstairs. Besides all of that what I really want to get across is that shes painful and rude. While she was shoving it into my face she said "Does it hurt?" and kept pushing it even harder. Im not a pansy but every other piercer Ive had tried to make it as painless as possible and also had their technique down. I should have went to infinite up the street.

Have a look at yourself. If you had a hard time getting along with the people in this shop, the problem is you. The multiple times Ive stopped in this shop, everyone was so friendly and accomodating, particularly Parker at the front desk. I went in to see Mony a few times with a design I had been working on for several months, and when I explained to him how much it meant to me, he took the time to sit me down and listen to what was important. I gave him the liberty to put his own energy into it, and...well...everyone who has seen my tattoo has been absolutely blown away, myself included. Mony brought my design to life, and proved to me that he was one of the most radiant and creative artists in Philadelphia. Ive got two more sessions left and I cant wait.

Went here for walk-in piercings with two friends on a whim one Friday afternoon, at the recommendation of a random man on the street...fantastic experience. Everyone was very friendly and helpful, considering that we knew nothing about what we wanted going in the door. The alternative "Hawaiian" decor was nice; not the sterile, intimidating tattoo/piercing parlor type at all (although everything was still very clean). They had a large selection of jewelry (18k, titanium, bone, wood etc) and piercing prices were very reasonable. Luis was great! He answered all of our questions patiently and instructed us on the proper care methods. He was very smooth, so I barely felt the needle at all. Healing great. Would definitely recommend!

For tattoos: Love this place! Its extremely clean and the staff at No Ka Oi is wonderful. I came here because I loved the fact that there are women tattoo artists on their payroll. I got my (pretty large) piece done by Rebecca Fiduccia, who does work for this shop when shes in the area :). Ive recommended at least 4 friends, and their tattoos came out fabulous as well. For piercings: Haley Street did my surface anchor (piercing), and Iva Karageorgieve did my tragus (piercing). Ive yet to have any piercings done by Luis Garcia, but have visited and spoken to him frequently, since hes THE BEST!! All of the piercers at No Ka Oi know their stuff, and having an APP certified piercer in my area is a great feeling. 100% RECOMMENDED!

I was so excited to find a shop of mostly female artists. However, when I arrived for my tattoo, I was taken aback by the awful customer service. First, I had to wait forever for someone to notice me and offer to help me. The artists seemed completely disinterested and snappy when answering the few questions that I had. There was no way that I was going to let any of the artists touch me--especially given their poor communication skills, so I promptly left, and went across the street to Eddies Tattoo. The difference was starling! I was immediately welcomed into the shop, and the service was refreshing (he had actual people skills). Its a shame that No Ka is undermined by its HORRIBLE service to regular people.
