I have been to Dr. Wands at least three times for glasses and contact exams. His contact exam fee is very reasonable ($25) with the rest of the exam billed to insurance usually (depending on your insurance--please check your policy). He is very, very thorough and spends a lot of time with patients. What I liked most about him is that he is passionate about his job and is very comprehensive about explaining things about your eyes and eyecare. He will answer every question with the best information and advice and then some. I love a doctor who is well-educated, willing to spend time with patients, and very thorough. That being said...I am not impressed with the service outside of his exams. I had a specialty trial contact order messed up TWICE despite calling, checking, and reconfirming the correct order. I never got a notification they were in the first time, then when I got there, they were the wrong power, and the second time I believe they were the same exact wrong power again. I am not sure if the ordering person or if Dr. Wands accidentally put a + instead of a - on the prescription. Anyhow, I had driven all the way down to Edina TWICE to get my contacts (I live in Robbinsdale), and they were screwed up. They seemed very disorganized in the retail part of the store. (Note: The reason I drive all the way from Robbinsdale is because I have gotten particularly crappy service at many other places, Dr. Wands had good reviews when I was researching, and once I saw him, I knew he was an excellent doctor. I am willing to travel for exceptional expertise.) Besides the detractions outside of the exam room, I am confident you will find Dr. Wands service to be great. I order my contacts and glasses off the internet, so I dont really have to deal with the retail side of the business except for when my trial contacts have to be ordered (I have astigmatism, so need toric lenses). Regardless, just try him. Hes great.

Ive been to fancier eye clinics and realized I was paying a serious premium for the "fancy factor", which ultimately doesnt matter. What matters is what I found here at Eye Time: an expert who listens and goes out of his way to explain things, one who catches things that others missed in the past. Ive seen many eye doctors throughout my life and this is the first time Ive really understood what was going on with my eyes. He didnt try to sell me anything, he just explained my options, and made sure he took extra time to answer all my questions before I went on with my day. I highly recommend visiting Dr. Wands at Eye Time.
