Let me first start by saying I have been to and bought from most of the big name furniture stores. Artvan, Gardner White, Ikea, etc. and I have found all of their customer service to be sub par at best. Now after I bought my first house on my own I had a limited budget for furniture so I decided to try out my local Value City back in 2015. My first experience there was a good one but unfortunately the couch I bought did not work for me. So a year later I made a claim on the pure promise and they did nothing about it. I then went to the store in Westland and spoke with the manager, Scott. It was almost time for them to close but Scott took the time for me to explain what was going on and he said he would call the protection plan company first thing in the morning and call me later that day. When he heard back from them he called me right away and said that I was all set and would have a credit in the store for the amount of my previous couch. I was taken aback because this is not the usual procedure for a replacement to take place. Usually a technician has to come do an inspection and blah blah blah. Scott did ALL the leg work for me and has a full time graduate student and working full time I was VERY grateful. Then when I went back to do my reselect with my credit I ran into Tim who is a salesman there. Now dont get me wrong, I am like most people and do not enjoy being hounded by salesman. However, Tim was not like that at all. He took the time to answer my questions HONESTLY (yes he was honest and not just trying to get a sale) but then he would leave to let me look around. But did not hover near by so I felt like I was being watched. My experience at this store surpassed any other furniture store experience by leaps and bounds. I strongly recommend Scott for any questions/concerns, and Tim for your sales representative. They both were absolutely wonderful.

My husband and I bought a recliner there 1 1/2 year ago, it was a month before my husband left for Iraq. It broke 2 days ago. We babied this chair. It was important to us that it lasted. The warranty expired on it a year after purchase. I told them it would have broke sooner if my husband had been home and using it too but for a year of the year and a half we had it, I was the only adult who used it. Our two small daughters BARELY ever sat on it. My situation didnt matter to them. They could have cared less. It broke from normal use. Odds are it would have broke a lot sooner therefore still under warranty. They didnt care. I will not shop there EVER again. The chair cost me 199.00 and then we bought the stain warranty, so it cost us 229.99 plus tax. As a military family we cant afford to buy new chairs ever 18 months. What a joke.

I had a really good experience at this location. My sales associate was Mike. He was very professional and helpful. He was patient with us and allowed us to take our time looking around. Did not hound us, but let us know he was there for any questions. We were there for a couple hours, he answered all our questions, offered good suggestions and we appreciated that. We left and came back a couple times too because Im extremely indecisive, and every time we came back, he treated us like we were his only customers. He never treated us like we were wasting his time. In the end, we purchased 2 lamps and a reclining sofa. But based on his suggestions, we will be back to also purchase an entertainment center. I guess I got the right salesman compared to a lot of other reviews here. See Mike, he will change your mind! Happy customer!!

I bought a sectional from them almost 3 years ago. I also purchased the 5 year stain and the 3 year base which included the cushions, spring, and boards. Last year I called and had them come out 3 times for different issues. Now I was having an issue with the boards on one side of the couch part. I opened my claim and called to schedule someone to come out. The lady I was speaking to looked back in my claim and said that since Yoshikawa is the 4th time they were going to replace the sectional. I am ecstatic! Now 5 days later I have my new sectional and I couldnt be happier. Please everyone pay the additional money and get the warrenty. I will definitely shop here again!

Purchased a Sectional Couch there Two years ago along with the "Extended Warranty" which the Salesman praised that it would cover anything outside of outright damage by us. 6 months ago the Faux Leather surface started to check even though we treated to surface with their conditioning product. Over the last 6 months the outer surface has flaked away in large sections. wish I could post a picture here. Call to discuss warranty and was quickly denied by the service staff at VCF so I proceeded directly to the Warranty Company they sent me a link to upload photo and was quickly again denied. Long story short.... do not buy the extra warranty

Bought a living room set 1 1/2 years ago. The chair fabric frayed and pulled apart. I had the 5 year warranty and filed a claim. Claim was refused because they said this was normal wear and tear. No children/no pets. I am 59 and my husband is 72. NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR???!!! SERIOUSLY?? Let the buyer beware! Poor quality/poor service/crappy useless warranty. Just an FYI-my previous furniture was 22 years old and had no rips/tears or fraying. Dont shop there.

This place has improved greatly since its opening back in the day. Perhaps its my personal taste, but I had a far better time finding things I liked here than at Art Van, Gardner White, or any of the better known chains. Reasonable priced, great variety, and something for just about any tastes. Well worth checking out.

I mustve walked around the whole store for about 25 min. And no salesperson asked if I needed anything it was a ghost town so it wasnt that there was no one available they just didnt come. The bad part about it was I was considering buying a few things. In spite of the other reviews I still looked around never at this location.

A friend purchased a sofa from VCF. No kids in the house and the arm became loose. We turned the sofa over and see the it is made off construction grade OSB cheap sheeting. glued and screwed. I recommend hard wood construction. you are not getting deals here. you get what you pay for.
