My favorite/Go to place for my adventure needs. I love REI, for their quality of service and products. the employees are very helpful and nice. The best selling point is the technical help you receive when you are shopping for something. with 10s of hours of online research and you still dont know what to pick. they will solve it for you in few minutes. and the best part if that dont work out bring it back. they have everything you might need for your outdoor and idoor adventure. kayaks, backpacks, meals, energy bars, cameras, cloths, jackets, bikes boots etc etc, and plenty of options and all high quality brands. they do service bikes as well. One small thing. they do not carry extended sizes like Long pant sizes and shoes beyond 11( no half sizes). so I end up ordering all possible sizes online and return a lot.

I like going to REI because they have reasonable prices and are very friendly. About this time of year two years ago I got a set of skis, boots, and poles and they wete extremely helpful and friendly. However the most recent time I went my brother asked an associate working in footwear if they had Rocky brand boots and the associate said they had never heard of them. Rocky being a very popular, well-known boot. Im a little disappointed the associate who working there the last time we visited the store was not informed on similar products even if they dont carry them in store.

I bought a backpacking backpack from this store several years ago. They fitted it and I used it for about 4 backpacking trips. I was in the store recently getting fitted for a smaller day back. She said I was an xs and I knew that my other pack was a small. I told her that I regularly hit my head on the back of the pack when backpacking (not comfortable). She said that was a sign it was too big (I felt kind of stupid!) and I should bring it back. I was able to return a pack that was 3 yrs old, used and get store credit. Thank you! You rock!

I saw a pair of ski boots on sale, the website said they were in stock. I called the store and was told,"come in, we can get them out of the warehouse for you". I drove over two hours in Detroit traffic (round trip) spent twenty minutes in the store and was told "we cant find them, sorry". REI totally dropped the ball on this, I lost time, gas and my faith in REI. I pay extra at REI to bet better service. What happened to that service?

Always helpful service, and the REI return policy makes shopping here a no-brainer. Members get a discount and a dividend (Rebate that they mail you back). You can return any item up to 12 months after purchasing it for a full refund in the form that you paid if you arent absolutely satisfied. The prices are the same here as they are everywhere else, but the customer service makes it worth the 50+ mile drive for me (Lapeer County).

Great REI that is twice the size of the Troy location (which I usually go to) as Im a Co-op member. Staff is always easy to find and very knowledgeable. Quick checkout but dont yet support Tap-to-pay nor chip cards. Bike section is bigger in troy but the water sports, shoes and all other sections seem larger in Northville.

Great service and product selection for almost any adventure. They stand behind all there products for 100% satisfaction. Do not go to the Ann Arbor store, however...and waste your time. Poor selection and the staff, especially the ski dept, cant get anything right....total joke.

We drive way out of our way to come to this REI because it is so much better than the one in Troy. The inventory is great and you can check out all the products up close. They have all their sleeping bags hung up so you can compare sizes, and the bikes are all out to compare too.

The staff was very helpful and knowledgeable, particularly in the backpacking gear. Its a pretty expensive store but if you are a member there are free classes and you get special deals once in a while and a dividend back at the end of the year.
