We have been going to Mackinac Island for decades and browsing at all the shops is always a enjoyable part of each stay. Great Turtle Toys has been a great place to find toys for our sons and now grandkids. We stopped by a week ago and got such a sickening shock by seeing a display of 20 different models of wooden toy rubber band guns- each a different labeled model of an assault weapon. Assault weapons are designed for one purpose only.... and sport has nothing to do with it. My husband said one was the exact shape & model number that was used at Sandy Hook Elementary School. I cant comprehend the reasoning for this store to promote the play of such items that have caused such agony and heartache for so many families and communities.

Small toy store in the middle of main street hidden in a small alcove by the Lilac Tree Hotel. They have a wide selection of toys: board games, magic tricks, rubber band guns, kites and much more. They encourage you to play with the toys too. The owner and staff were friendly and helpful and they were open late. If you like toys or have kids you must visit this store when you are on the island.

The store has lots of fun little toys and games, they can be a bit overpriced due to the nature of the city. My issue was that the staff were quite rude to me. I was looking at some of the sample toys they had out and the staff kept on giving me this eye like I was being suspected of stealing. The whole experience left a bad taste in my mouth.

We really enjoyed your store, staff and meeting the owner. The toys are fun but also educational! Fantastic kite selection...best ive seen in michigan by a mile. Also loved the sister store on marquette as well!! See you guys in upcoming years!!
