I live about 2 miles from them. Called them 5 minutes before going and asked them if they will be able to guide me with battery removal for charging (I never asked them to remove the battery for me, i just asked them to guide me on removing it). They said it will be no problem and they can take care of it today. Five minutes later, I enter the shop and there are 5 customers and 2 employees. I got in the line and the first employee told me "we wont be able to help you with battery removal as we are too busy right now" (by that time, 3/5 customers had left already). I told them that someone over the phone told me to bring the car and they should be able to do it, to which the other employee responded "it was me who said it, but we cant do it right now as there are only 2 of us" (by that time 4/5 customers had left and the 5th one was paying at the counter). They handed me a toolkit and told me to go get the battery out myself. I tried for about 15 minutes but couldnt do it (as my battery has 2 parts and its not as simple as "unplug and remove"). Went back inside the shop and there were ZERO customers. Handed the toolkit back to them and told them I couldnt do it and thanked them for the kit. What would a reasonable employee at a reasonable auto-shop say? Something like we are not busy anymore, let me guide you on that now. His response was "Sorry we couldnt help, have a good day". Took my car to a mechanic, gave him $20 and got it done in an hour. Dear Autozone employer, if you want your store to run in a place like Detroit/Highland park, you need better employees. I am willing to pay for the services you provide, but at least have the courtesy to do the things you promise your customers over the phone. Needless to say, me or my family will never be going back to Autozone again.
