I was honored to be invited as the Featured Poet as part of Bookbounds series of Open Mic events on second Thursdays. I have now read my poems at six or so such events elsewhere, but Peter and Megan of Bookbound (and Leslie McGraw, the series coordinator) have created a lovely, safe space for ANYONE to share a few of their own poems, or even the work of their favorite author, before the vaunted "featured author" gets up to take the stage. The message is clear--all voices are valued, and every point of view is needed. For authors, this is an amazing opportunity to share their work in a town where all other venues are locked up by nationally or even internationally famous authors. For non-authors, its a way to participate in the creative process in a place that feels like your very own living room. Theres a whole shelf of books by local authors here to look at (and maybe even buy)--and no, you might not recognize many of the names, but that doesnt mean theyre not good. One of them might touch your heart in just the way you need.

This place has the sweetest folks working there. They remember my name and the genre I like and offered to order more like it even giving me recommendations. Its how you dream bookstores are with these knowledge helpful people but it was real. I love shopping here and I will continue to shop here for as long as I remain in the area.

This bookshop is a wonderful local gem. It is where I go when I need a book. If they dont have a title in store, then they are always willing to order it for me, at no extra charge. The owners are so helpful and kind, it is a pleasure to patronize their establishment.

Wonderful bookstore with a thoughtful selection of books at good prices. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The kids section and story times are an added bonus as well and there is convenient parking. I will definitely return soon :)
