Ive been going here for years. Great layout, things are easy to find, but the real value here is in the people. Dave, George, and Jake are knowledgeable, helpful, friendly, and imaginative. The collective expertise is unbelievable. Jake knows a ton about paint and paintbrushes, and when I described my needs, he special ordered two additional brushes, beyond the many they carry, just in case I might prefer on. Then last Friday I was there looking for something that didnt exist, and George found two different items I could try to improvise with. Meanwhile Dave was helping another customer with a broken, vintage faucet handle shaped like a fish. The part she needed was no longer made, but Dave found a way to improvise with a cotter pin. Total cost to the customer: 25 cents. The expertise: priceless. Ive used all the other hardware stores where I live and work, and you cant find people like this anywhere. Modern Hardware is the best!

This place is fantastic. Have everything, or know where to get it. Good quality tools and parts. Sometimes the kids working arent the most knowledgeable, but there is always someone who can solve my problems. Prices are good to excellent, returns are a non-issue (mainly because they dont sell junk), selection is pretty spectacular (but ask - the thing you need might be under the stairs, hanging from the ceiling, or even in the drawer). A classic small town store, keeping up with the times. Love it.

They are not very reliable for having copies of keys made. Ive been there a few times to have keys made only to get back home and the keys dont work. Either the key stock or machine is no good or else the person making the keys doesnt know how to.
