RUN!!! FAr AWAY!! This place is shady and dishonest! There cars seem to good to be true probably because they are? They refused to let my mechanic look at it and could not provided documentation for work they said was done!Rusty was amazing when we were looking for a car he stayed late did anything to make a sale. SO I put a deposit down and then a down payment. Rusty said the car would have the belts changed because t was 11 years old. When I called and asked if I could have documentation stating the belt was changed Dave said they mechanic takes a cover off and looks at a number thats how they know it was new belt so he didnt know how to give me documentation on that? shady! Then it took a turn for the worst I asked if my mechanic of 11 yrs with 79 google reviews could check my car he got angry said he would not let my mechanic see the car because my mechanic always finds problems with their cars and that my mechanic wants things perfect and a 12 year old car isnt perfect that he already put all the money into it that he was going too! Not what they said when I was looking for a car they said they fix all the problems. Then when I went to get my money back Rusty said my mechanic wans to sAy their cars are bad to sell me one of his?! My mechanic doesnt even sell cars and has never offered me one! IF a used car place doesnt let you take car to your trusted mechanic then they are hiding something! theh also try to get you to write on car guru to say there ratings make sure you read the google reviews! Shady shady stuff and they will probably write a response to this blaming the customer! They blamed my mechanic! Buyer beware they are hiding something! EVery car buying blog will tell you RED flag if a dealer doesnt let you choose your mechanic

My first impression of Hampden Trading Co was that the business model was interesting. I was a bit wary, and now I find that it was for good reason. The car I decided to buy was in decent condition, which is the only reason for the second star. But I was promised a full check up of the car before it would be given to me. Not only does the car shake at 60 mph, but the cleaning job was half-assed and they did not follow their word. I brought it to my mechanic to see what was up with the shaking, and he said the tires were not in alignment at all. He also mentioned the back tires needed to be replaced and that they had simply slapped on some half-ass replacement brake pad rather than replacing the brakes all together. I was promised new tires, new brakes, and fixing any major problems with the car. It is only the beginning of my second week with the car and NOW the car only gets 15 mpg, when it was advertised to get 25, which means the car needs a complete tune up. Im disappointed in being told that certain things would get done, and then they either dont do it at all or half ass it. It wasnt a cheap car. I spent a decent amount of money and agreed to that price once they told me the car would be fully inspected, tuned up, and cleaned before giving it to me. There is nothing major going on with the car, but the pure lack of honesty, and being very deceptive the entire way was incredibly disheartening and disappointing.

If you’re looking for a replacement vehicle, I would highly recommend the staff at Hampden Trading Co. I recently purchased a Subaru Outback from Dave and really felt at home during the entire process. I live approximately 1 hour away and had never dealt with them before, but their business had been recommended to me. I initially called on a Sunday when they were closed and received a return call within 2 hours. I drove there the next day and took a test drive while Dave actually pointed out a few minor repairs that he felt were needed before he would sell the car; I had no idea there were any issues, but he volunteered the information! Their price was lower than every private sale or dealer I researched, but it was the people that made the difference for me. I can’t guarantee they’ll have what you want in stock, but I’ve never found a better dealer in the almost 40 years I’ve been buying cars. Any time you deal with someone new, especially when it concerns something as important as a car there is always a concern, but I was put at ease from the moment I arrived. I have kept in touch, love my car and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them to anyone. Believe my review or not– anyone can write what they want. If you want to verify what I’ve said, just stop by and spend a few minutes there. You’ll be impressed.

My friend had a horrible experience with these guys! She bought a car from them which broke down within a week of her having it. She then tried to schedule to have it fixed and they kept pushing back the date. After her being carless for about a week they finally took it in and fixed it and wiithin a day it broke down again for the same problem. They again took forever to take it and when they finally did they fixed the problem. Within another two days the car again broke down for a different reason that she reported prior that they said they had taken care of. Their response was "What do you expect from an older car?" and they refused to fix it. They were also very sexist and degrading to my friend, referring to her as "Little Girl." My friend is now going to the Better Business Bureau. Buyer Beware!! These guys do not stand behind their cars and they try to screw you on their so called "warranty" by postponing when they can fix it and doing half ass repairs until the warranty is up.

My 2003 Hyundai with 133k I have had for 5 years leaked transmission flid all over my landlords new driveway when the lines broke. I Found 2 cars of interest. I asked for one be inspected by my mechanic, no problem. The mechanic listed a number of problems one was an oil leak that could be caused by a number of reasons that could possibly be resolved. I contacted Dave and told him I couldnt take a chance of another leak or Id be looking for a place to live. His response was all cars leak. My Hyundai never leaked until the lines broke. I said I would like the mechanic to look at the Honda he evaded the question. When I stopped to pickup the deposit Rusty the sales person informed me Dave preferred not to do business because there was no problem with the car. I cant believe Dave just didnt tell me that when I spoke with him. You be the judge. Its too bad because Rusty was easy to work with and the pricing is very good

Hampden trading has good prices and offer a warranty on their cars. That being said their mechanic is either a lazy ass or incapable. They say they do an inspection and service on the cars before they release them, i got my car with a minor oil leak and I smell oil when I drive. So I brought it back to get repaired, I got the car back and Im still smelling oil. At this point itll be easier to fix it myself. That being said the car was cleaned very well before I got it and I like the car itself minus the issues.
