Bought a television cabinet last week, and the manager was excellent. She had it put in the back until I could get someone to pick it up. I paid my handyman $100.00 to pick it up and delivery to my home. When he got to the store, he found the cabinet was cracked all the way around. From the pictures and what he said, it was clear that someone had dropped it. They never have more than one of the same item, so I was very disappointed that the staff couldnt move a piece of furniture to the stockroom and back without destroying it. When I went in later that day to get my refund, I spoke with the manager on duty, Tim. I told him how disappointed I was and that I had to pay $100 for delivery that never happened, and he said, "yeah, you bought it that way." Seriously? NO ONE would have paid $300.00 for a trashed cabinet. Why would I send someone to pick up the cabinet only to refuse it if I had intentionally purchased it with extensive damage? And all he had to do was speak to the manager on duty the day I bought it, and she could verify that there was no damage to the piece when purchased. When I told him I was writing a letter to the president of Homegoods to let him know just how poorly handled my purchase was, he said, "yeah, whatever." I have spend thousand of dollars at TJX stores but no more. There are way too many discount stores online to spend my money at stores with horrible management.
