This little Star Market offers a lot of savings compared to Whole Foods up the road. It may have a limited variety of brands, but you can certainly find the basics. The last time I used my shaws card I saved $15 on a $100 purchase. Im impressed that they have organic offerings, even if just aisle, in such a small store. They have decent selections for cheese, cereal, tea/coffee, and yogurt and the frozen vegetables are very affordable. If you are looking for three different brands of quinoa, or a prepared foods section with orange-glazed salmon and roasted squash, if you want to spend $2.00 on a single 6-ounce yogurt, if you want a really jammed parking lot, go to Whole Foods. You can make a perfectly good, fresh meal for a good price from Star.

They have the basics. Biggest gripe is limited produce selection. Poorly displayed, uneven quality, unpredictable inventory. Expensive. I actually dont think produce is less expensive than Whole Foods, around the corner. Also, they had a big ad campaign about displaying more "local" produce this summer -- and it was basically apples for a couple of weeks. They have a big opportunity because a lot of people dont want to go to Whole Foods b/c of the cost and the one thing that Trader Joes really doesnt have is fresh produce.

This review is only for the ride behavior of the staff members. They have no idea what they do or do not have in the store. They rudely point you to wrong aisles. When you go and tell them that they pointed you at the wrong aisle and tell the correct one (after taking hours to find something in the store), they are very dismissive about it. I think they should be sorry and thankful both in such a situation. The food items dont have a large selection but are make do. It is a smaller market so that is to be expected.

Never buy groceries here but was in a rush and stopped in. The selection was fine for its size, but the service is lackluster. The cashier who rang me up gave off a vibe of misery and handled my food without care. After pricing/weighing the items, she actually threw them to the bagging area. With that said, the girl I was with bagged her groceries herself because she wanted to limit the handling time. We legitimately left the store feeling uncomfortable after checking out.

Absolutely awful. The selection is always changing so you cant be sure you can get the same product the next week and the staff have a massive chip on their shoulder. But the worst is that they got rid of self-check out lane and they refuse to actually staff so if you are just going to the store for a loaf of bread you still have to wait behind sometimes up to four other people. Oh and they are now charging 10 cents a bag. This place is awful. Do not go!

On the small side for a Star Market. Produce section is small and hit-or-miss. Good selection of Kosher food for the large Jewish population of Brookline. Good selection of fancy cheeses and breads in the back right corner. Pharmacy goods are tucked away in the far front left. Theres a full service deli in the back. The staff could be friendlier, but they have to deal with rich, entitled city folk, so I cut them some slack.

Convenient, small for a chain store, but they have a great produce section and a great deli. The size is actually kind of nice, as they do a great job of densely merchandising the store. Every time I go, the store looks great. They are short on selection of natural food and fine imported seasonings but great for staples and much less expensive than other markets in the area.

This is my go to store every weekend. This small store gives the star market a more personal feel. Its unique in that it also has a good selection of health foods. The meat department always amazes me with fresh selections at a reasonable price! Good brands of bagged/boxed salad mixes and spinach. Over all the workers are friendly and willing to help.

Convenient with parking. You could spend hours in the ice cream or the cheese section. Its missing some staples sometimes, but it varies. Some would even call it fun. Will there be more onion species than red? Will I be able to find the chocolate chevre cheese again? Who knows, but I enjoy surprises.

Very nice supermarket. They have a lot of stuff in there. Its very long and narrow so feels small, but they have a pretty thorough selection. The prices could be a bit better, but I feel like (and could be wrong) that they are better than at the star market on comm Ave near BU

It is convenient to have a grocery store between Washington Square and Cleveland Circle. This store is small and recent changes have made it even more difficult to navigate. This store surprisingly manages to have a decent selection of food considering its size.

The selection of fresh fruit and veg and meat are good. Overall the selection and cost of groceries are fine and what you would expect of a smaller sized supermarket. Other than the staff in the meat deli the staff appear miserable and unapproachable.

We really only go here if we are in a rush for a grocery item. The prices seem somewhat higher as compared other local grocery stores, the selection isnt the greatest, and the staff is often rude. We just prefer other grocery stores over this one.

Such friendly and helpful staff! Even the checkout chick was polite and professional to a challenging customer. Its a smallish supermarket, though, and a bit squishy, could be brighter and lighter. Maybe the ceiling is a bit low.

They have the essentials. Limited space means you wont find specific brands that you might prefer. Also, somehow the Express checkout line is the slowest of em all. I like the fact that they bag your groceries in a paper bag.

Very small selection, never seems to have what I actually wanted to buy, including advertised items. Also my experience is that most of the staff is rather rude and unfriendly, and not at all helpful even when asked.

Convenient location at less than 500 feet from the closest green line (C branch) stop. Parking out front and on the side as well. Could have a larger selection, but it is a grocery store in a city.

Everything under the sun, I just have complaints about the quality of the produce and fruit in particular. I know I can get better produce for the same price at Whole Foods and thats annoying.

The store is on the smaller side and missing items I want. Worst is their $5 meatball package, it had literally 6 meatballs in it and they werent even the best Ive every had.

Very convenient. Good amount of checkout lanes. Selection is okay, but stock changes from week-to-week which helps a bit. Have had some great interactions with staff!!

Grumpiest employees. Also they never double bag and my groceries always break open and fall into the street on my walk home. Plus the layout was poorly planned

Why are the cashiers so rude? Dont they realize the most important part of their job is to be pleasant? Everything else can literally be done by a robot.

I go here only because there is no alternative, typical overpriced boston supermarket EXCEPT everyone who works here has down syndrome, no joke!.

Great location, always has fresh and organic produce. I wish the meat department was a little bigger but the employees are always helpful.
