I just got my gas-powered clothes dryer replaced through Downeast. I want to preface this by saying that, before our dryer broke, we tried six months ago to get it replaced together with our washer through a big box store. But the box store through which we ordered would not remove or install a gas dryer. They required us instead to have a gas technician present at removal and at installation to get the job done. Because the box store would only promise delivery within a four-hour window, we were left with no option to get the removal and installation done in one trip. At a loss for what to do, we waited until we had no other option. Our dryer finally broke for good on Friday night. I called Downeast Saturday morning thinking that they might have a better option than the box store, even though I anticipated they might be more expensive. It turns out they did have a better option, and yet it wasnt more expensive. They made an appointment to remove my old dryer and install my new dryer between 1 pm and 3 pm on Monday. I specifically asked whether they could install and remove a gas dryer and they promised to have a technician capable of doing so on the team. A team of 3 arrived shortly after 1 PM today (Monday) with a gas dryer, which they installed after removing my old gas dryer for a removal / install fee of $90. I was so impressed with the team that showed up. Prior to the dryer finally breaking, we had been having trouble for years with getting our clothes dry enough. The team diagnosed the problems for me (a combination of having a PVC vent pipe, which attracts lint and therefore tends to clog up, and a broken outside vent flap, which lets moisture in, creating further lint clogging). *At no extra charge* they installed some new non-PVC flexible venting for the dryer, which they estimated would last for about a year. They also provided a number for me to call to get a fixed metal pipe and new vent flap installed at some later date when my budget allows. They also did not balk when, after pulling out my old gas dryer, the gas shut-off valve was not visible. They checked outside the house and then looked around the basement trying to trace it. It turns out this valve had been covered over by sheetrock behind the dryer. They worked with me to pull the sheetrock free to uncover the gas shut-off valve, and they removed the old PVC pipe and the broken sheetrock *at no extra charge*.

Dont buy a #Maytag dishwasher. Ive replaced all of my kitchen appliances with #maytag about 3 months ago. Mucho Mullah! The dishwasher is super quiet and leaks water every three or four uses. With todays technology why would a dishwasher run if the door isnt properly latched? The Downeast repair man has been out once and It is still leaking. #Downeast Appliance wont exchange the dishwasher for another one. Ive called #Maytag and they wont exchange it either. They will attempt another repair as long as I wait all day for them to show up. I work for a living. Told DownEast that I would bill them for my time and now they dont want to service the product they sold. Why do I need to be inconvenienced by another repair attempt? You cannot make me believe that the dealer and manufacturer doesnt make money on their product to the point that they have a no return sale policy. It is poor business practice to hold your customer hostage to your product. What incentive does the manufacturer have to correct a wrong or make a quality product. I may have to make my own the next time Im in the market for kitchen appliances but, I wont be buying anything from #Downeast Appliance and I wont be buying any #Maytag. Hope they enjoy my money. The #Maytag resolution specialist had the gall to tell me to file a homeowners claim to pay for any water damage to my floor that their product caused. What is this world coming to? No ethics at all.

DEA came highly recommended from a few friends. Dan called to say he would be early. He quickly diagnosed the problem with our commercial drier and fixed it nearly as fast. Courteous, professional and knowledgeable. I now have a reliable company I can call to repair the several appliances in my apartment building. I will also be buying any future appliances from them as well. Nice to have sales and service all in one. No more big box store hassles. Thanks DEA!

My wife and I have purchased many items from Downeast Appliance and love the experience. The owner Mike has more knowledge than any other competitor (especially big box stores.) He guides you through the process effortlessly and like magic the appliance appears at our home. I wouldnt shop any where else! Magically, Phil Smith

Downeast Appliance has always gone above and beyond for our appliance needs. From efficient, quick, and knowledgeable service, to quality new appliances with a stellar delivery need, they are the best appliance company in the greater Portland area. Not to mention that they are a true local family owned and operated business.

My experience with Downeast Appliance has been extremely negative. They sold a product for a dishwasher that malfunctioned shortly after purchase and they would not back up their product. My complaint was met with smugness and laughter. I would not recommend Downeast to anyone.
