We rented five bikes to bike the carriage trails at Acadia NP. The bikes were not awful, and the gal checking us out did a good job adjusting them for each rider, but the shifters didn’t work very well on a couple of them. No biggie. What was a biggie was that a half-hour into our ride, the handlebars on my daughter’s bike came completely loose, swung upside down, and only through the intervention of her guardian angel did she avoid a crash and injury. I called AB, and they said they would send a new bike right away, but that I had to ride back to the trail head for the bike. I asked that they send a guy to me to tighten the bracket, but they said no…I had to ride the bike back a half-hour to get a new bike. So I did, very slowly and constantly fighting handlebars that would not stay up and wanted to pitch me head over teakettle. Very unenjoyable. This exercise put me an hour behind my family. When I met the guy, I asked if he could drive me and the bike to the Jordan Pond House to catch me up with my family. No go, he said, as his insurance wouldn’t allow a passenger in his vehicle. OK, I said, call your insurance agent and get a one-day rider to your policy; it’ll take five minutes. No way, he said, it doesn’t work like that, and besides, I have a business to run and no way am I going to take the the time; sorry youre behind your party, but there is nothing I can do. He said he wanted to work with me and then repeated several times that he had done all he could. No, I said, you’ve done all you’re willing to do, but not all you could do. Then he recited the boiler plate on the release Id signed, that he wasn’t obligated to do anything but provide me a replacement bike, there would be no refunds, and he had to be going. I promised him reviews on the major review sites, and so here it is. Summary: not a clip joint, but the bikes are only so-so with something less than conscientious preventative maintenance, and if you have a problem don’t expect them to lift one finger more than the bare minimum.

My wife and I rented bikes from Acadia over Memorial Day weekend. On our way to the national park my wifes gears locked up causing her to swerve on to the road in an attempt to not fall over - luckily there were no cars! I then tested her bike and found that the lowest two gears didnt work - we had been given a faulty bicycle. An hour and a half later someone from the bike shop delivered us another bike and we were able to continue our journey. I shared my frustrations with Heidi in the store, and she repeatedly expressed that she had followed protocol in getting a new bike to us, but to my great surprise accepted no responsibility for having provided us with faulty equipment causing my wife to have an accident. It became clear to me that Heidi was not concerned about the safety of her customers and I want you know this as youre considering where to rent your bicycles. I wish I would have gone to Bar Harbor Bicycle shop instead and paid $3 more per rental and I suggest thats what you do.

Terrible experience. The chain on my bike skipped constantly when going uphill which, in Acadia, makes it unrideable. Upon telling them when I returned, they insisted that I should have called them so they could have "helped me out-" as if they would have gotten a new bike, ridden it out to me in the middle of the park, exchanged it, then ridden back. Immediately after I gave up trying to get a refund, another couple came in to complain about their bikes. The companys fleet is old, by their own admission, so dont be surprised if you have problems as well. Id advise looking for another place to rent from

Went on a guided sea kayak tour. Our tour guide, Bill, was not only a "native" but also did research on the places and shared it with us as we kayaked. Although my girlfriend and I kayak regularly they were very extensive and helpful when it came to the others in our group who were not as experienced. Even the first time kayakers had no troubles.

Dont rent from these people. We rented two bikes, only to discover one had a huge bubble on the tire. Sure enough, it blew. While they were willing to come and replace the bike, our biking experience was ruined, and we got no discount. They should not have let such a bike out the door, and they should have given us some kind of compensation.

The woman at the front desk would not give us any information about the carriage trails in Acadia other than the gentle loop. One of the bike shop guys told us "none of us really ride" after we asked about trails on the island. Bikes are average. I would not rent here again.

We wanted to explore the carriage trails in Arcadia National Park on bicycles. We rented them from here. They were so helpful and the bikes were in great condition. We highly recommend them and will not hesitate to go there again on our next visit.

We found the staff to be courteous and helpful. They mis-sized my wifes bike (it should have been bigger), but overall the equipment met our needs. Well definitely use them again on our next trip to the island.

The person wouldnt give us a bike rack, because of the small spoiler on the car, so if you have a small spoiler on your car, I suggest going to Bar Harbor Bicycle Shop (just down the street), or take the bus.

Great service. They couldnt get the bikes on our car, but it was only 1.5 miles to the carriage roads so we just rode. It was a long trek but much faster than the shuttle.

Super friendly and helpful staff. The Acadia Park carriage roads can be tough, though, so my butt hurts.

Nice friendly staff, bikes are like new, I would not consider going anywhere else.
