MVP is by far the most knowledgable and caring pet store Ive ever come across. I had the incredible opportunity to work there for over 8 years and got to experience first-hand the care and effort and work that is put in to keeping the animals happy and healthy until they find good homes. The animals are definitely put first. Many people think that animals in a pet store are in cages all day until someone buys them and that they arent properly cared for and are neglected. However, those people didnt show up to the store with me & my co-coworkers 2 hours before it opened to watch how we completely clean/bleach/windex/sanitize EVERY single cage EVERY single day: They must not have seen how tortoises get to walk around the store freely during the day with a balloon gently tied around their shell so their location was always known while they got exercise. They must not have seen the employees walking around with a parrot on their shoulder, a puppy or kitten in hand, or an iguana or bearded dragon resting on their chest. They must not have been there when we pulled out bags of fresh fruits & veggies to spoil any animal that could eat them, including the tiniest little hamsters. They must not have been there when we opened new bags of treats, bones, & catnip to spoil the puppies & kittens constantly. They must not have been there when we went to completely clean all the cages and feed all the animals before even opening Christmas presents or prepping Thanksgiving dinner, or going to church on Easter Sunday; this was on a volunteer basis with employees and almost all showed up on holidays, including the owners because thats how much those animals are cared for. MVPs animals are very well taken care of every single day. If you need more proof, look at the employees shirts...those bleach stains dont come from walking by a dirty cage. Stop by within half an hour of closing and see the bird aviaries getting bleached out so theyre clean & ready for the birds to come out & socialize the next day. MVP is where almost all of my feather, scale, & fur-babies have come from. Its a trustworthy, fun, loving, family-owned, local business.

Horrible experience...will never return! My daughter bought a fish here which had diseases and infected the two fish she already owned. The fish we had before buying the diseased fish from MVP were thriving and healthy and we had had them for several months. We got those two fish from Meijer and PetSmart and had no problems at all with them. We returned the diseased fish to MVP and received our $3.00 back, only to spend $13.00 more on stuff that the staff said would help our existing two fish recover without any problems. The staff worker was rude and condescending and said that their fish did not have any diseases and it had to be something that we were doing incorrectly. WRONG! Our fish were fine before we bought this one and added it to the tank. While we there, the rude staff worker tested our tank water and let the diseased fish lie there barely moving. When I pointed that out to her, she just scooped him up and threw him back into the tank packed full with other fish that will now surely get the same diseases. Since then, one of our two fish has died as a result and the other is dying. If we ever buy fish again, we will NEVER buy fish or anything else from this store. Im horrified after reading some of the other 1 star negative reviews about cancerouos puppies. This place should not be allowed to continue to operate. STAY AWAY!!!

They sold us a guinea pig recently. We were told one price when we were looking and then charged $20 more when checking out. Not a huge deal for a pet but still inconsistent. The workers did not seem to have any clue as to what was going on or how to run the store and were flirting with one another and horsing around. We waited 20 minutes for assistance after being told 2 minutes. The girl apologized and said she forgot about us; nice. At checkout we asked about a warranty on the pig (just in case) and were told that unless we bought more things from them then there was no warranty. Then we get home and realize our adorable little guinea pig has lice or mites so it looks like a trip to the vet is in order. Getting a new pet is supposed to be a pleasant experience and these morons made it miserable for us. They clearly do not know how to care for animals or their customers. I am never shopping there again and I am going to do my best to insure that as many people as possible know about this place and their bad practice and incompetent employees. DO NOT BUY A LIVE ANIMAL FROM THIS SHOP!

We bought our pure bred poodle there almost 3 years ago and couldnt be happier! After seeing a couple recent negative and ill-informed reviews I felt obligated to share my experiences there. The staff is courteous, knowledgeable, trustworthy and helpful! They put animals safety and well-being first! I will only shop at this store. As for the puppy mills... you really think a pet store will risk their shop buying from a non reputable source? They have strong relationships with their breeders and have been working with them for many years. Designer breeds (pomski, labradoodle, multi poo etc) may go for more money and you get what you pay for. If the designer breed is more rare, it is more expensive. Economics people... Additionally, dogs can have health problems!! A breeder wont continue a line if there are health problems. Visit the store and ask questions... see for yourself how amazing this store is!

Pomsky for sale for 3k. NOTHING BUT A MUTT!!!! These people are selling PUPPY MILL DOGS for thousands of dollars! UNETHICAL. IRRESPONSIBLE. SHAMEFUL. KY has the worst laws in the nations so just imagine the conditions that poor sick pup was bred in. SHAME ON YOU! You OWN words from a post below: "Etta Ridner was a very respected breeder of ours. Her shelties were sought after because of their small size and bubbly personalities. You are the first owner to make me aware of any problem. I have many friends and customers that have one of her shelties, pomeranians, or papillons without any issues." NO REPUTABLE breeder would ever breed more than one breed of dog. They are selling puppy mill dogs. NO REPUTABLE breeder would EVER sell pups in a pet store, they sell their dogs themselves and are careful who gets their dogs. MOST VALUABLE PETS is nothing more than a problem making a bigger problem worse.

I was looking around for birds, particularly a cockatiel. My husband had visited the day before and fell in love with a parrot named bamboo so of course he wanted to show me. We went back the next day and there was a different bird. So we asked where bamboo was and the guy said oh we switch bamboo and liberty out every other day, but hes in the window if you want to see him. We go over there and we see not one parrot but 2 in such a small cage I wouldnt even put my cockatiel in it. And mind you these are not small parrots. Then completely disgusted I go to walk out and theres this precious Siamese looking cat. I reach down to pet her and she is nothing but FUR AND BONES. I legitimately could feel her entire spine and every rib. While I had no problems with the staff, the conditions that I saw these animals in disgusted me.
