Save yourself the time and effort of making multiple appointments all over town, and go directly to ALTAR BRIDAL! You can not go wrong with the personal treatment that they give you the minute you walk in the door. As a bride, you go into wedding dress shopping with cautious optimism (or at least I did). This is the most important day of shopping you will ever do, and with high hopes you want to find the most perfect dress... the one youve been dreaming of wearing since you put your dress-up clothes away the final time in 1st grade. The most comforting part was the listening that happened before dresses were even seen. Dede and her staff first and foremost want to know what is important to YOU. What do you look for, dream of in your wedding gown? And, maybe more importantly, what do you dislike? Theyre also pretty good at knowing what might fit you well... :) (this is not their first rodeo...) Once we had developed a good understanding of the style and look I was hoping for, they went to work. I know I was one of the lucky ones who find their dress on the first day of looking, and only put on 6 total. But, I honestly think it was because they didnt waste my time making me try every dress in the store, and listened to my style, the style of my wedding, and my budget. Also, although my dress was custom ordered/made, I knew there would be alterations involved once it was here. The alterations were done by Janet at Fine Stitch, who was amazing! She paid the best attention to detail, and made it fit absolutely perfect (and as comfortable as a strapless dress could be..)! Dede and Janet work together, so you dont have to fret whos going to be stitching on your dress after youve grown or shrunk in certain places :) Dede and her staff are always smiling the minute you walk in the door, and willing to find you exactly what you are dreaming of! I have nothing but happy memories of working with Altar Bridals services, products, and of course my gown and accessories. My wedding was a picture perfect day, and I could not be more thankful that I was confident in my dress and had such great service at Altar Bridal. PS... The accessories are fabulous as well! Do yourself a favor and just deck yourself out from head to toe :) You wont regret it. Oh, and Congrats!

Altar Bridal is the only place to shop for your wedding dress in Kansas City. Dede and the entire staff made my dress shopping experience simple, stress free and, most of all, FUN. I loved working with Altar so much, I was sad when the experience was over. I had grown accustom to seeing these lovely ladies several times a week and knew I would miss seeing them. Dede has created a traditional contemporary bridal boutique concept. The store is open, modern and loft like with original hardwood floors and exposed brick. The dress and accessories are well displayed and organized, without any clutter that can be overwhelming. The atmosphere at Altar Bridal one that is fresh, warm and inviting. I had a specific look and style I was trying to achieve for my beach wedding, short and edgy. My search took me all over Kansas City and beyond to St. Louis and the Internet, with no luck. I quickly learned my style is not the norm in the bridal world. I became increasingly frustrated as boutique after boutique tried to convince me to follow the norm. Then I found Altar. Dede listened to me and understood my vision. Instantly my vision became her challenge. Her selection of dresses far exceeded the other boutiques, and she had creative, innovative suggestions on how the dresses could be modified to create the “look” I wanted. She seemed to have a direct line to all of her designers, so we could work together to create my dream dress. After a few short visits we found the dress. We worked with the designer to make the modifications necessary and we created a dress unlike any I had ever seen. A little bit of elegance combined with a little bit of funky, my vision, and now Dede’s, had been achieved. Ultimately anything is possible if you shop at Altar for your special day. I could not have been happier with my dress or the service and enjoyment I found there. Lastly and most importantly my husband loved my dress, I give full credit to Altar Bridal.

I had very high expectations of what I wanted my experience to be when choosing a wedding dress and Dede and Altar Bridal exceeded my expectations! I was slightly nervous when entering the store as I had arrived a few minutes late and thought we might have been bumped from our appointment. Dede was so kind and understanding (darn GPS!) and immediately put me at ease. The boutique is beautiful, with wonderful natural light, open and airy. She set up seating for my guests and made everyone feel very welcome. We went back into a dressing room where I showed her piles of pictures and chatted about my budget. Then, we walked through the store where she did an excellent job of choosing dresses that fit my ideas and price point. All of the dresses are exquisite (she has very good taste) and I saw many of the dresses that I had seen in the glossy pages of bridal magazines. Yes, many of the dresses are expensive but I had plenty of options within my modest budget. Trying on dresses and being nearly naked with a stranger can be awkward but I felt very comfortable the entire time. Dede was relaxed and let me take my time in the room and while showing my guests. I ended up finding a gorgeous dress which was a little bit of everything I had been looking for. I decided on "the one" and we all celebrated with champagne. Purchasing was quick and simple and I received a thoughtful thank you note through the mail within days of my visit. My dress was sent to me in California shortly after in perfect condition, even more beautiful and unique than I had remembered. My entire experience from start to finish was excellent and I highly recommend Altar Bridal to the fashionable and chic bride looking for an intimate and very special shopping experience.

I went shopping at Altar shortly after getting engaged and had planned on just getting some ideas. I made the appointment online and had it confirmed almost immediately - it was super easy. After briefly describing what I was thinking to the friendly and welcoming store manager (her name is Sara and shes AMAZING), she brought out the perfect Monique Lhuillier gown. I knew instantly it was the one. I tried on about 10 more dresses (since I felt like I couldnt possibly have found my dream gown on the first shot), but I ended up buying that first one that day. I was so impressed that Sara had gotten such a good read on my style and personality after only talking to me for 5 or 10 minutes before bringing out some samples. I ended up going back to Altar for a veil and a rehearsal dinner dress, too, and I got both at incredible discounts because the gals at the store called or emailed ahead to let me know that they were having trunk sales for the stuff they knew I was still in the market for. My experience was the perfect amount of personalized service without feeling pressured or overwhelmed. I came away feeling like I could call them for any of my friends in the future and they would drop everything to help however they could. They even contacted me after my wedding to say thank you and to wish me well. I could not have been happier with how it all went. I should mention that I NEVER write reviews for anything - thats how much this meant to me. Every girls experience with their wedding dress should be as perfect as mine was. Thank you, Altar!
