I must confess that I dont think I could have asked for a better experience buying engagement/wedding jewelry than that which I had at McCoys. I hope to never go through it again (you know...only one marriage and all), but I can highly recommend both the gentlemen who work there (Rob and Jonathan) and the service and goods they render. Step One: The reset an heirloom diamond into a new engagement band. Beautifully done, and when the ring needed to be sized, they did so with joy and speed. Step Two: Wedding bands. Much to their credit, there was never any sense of pressure to buy more, buy bigger, or to spend more. I cannot say I had any major design elements I wanted for my wedding band, but I picked out a couple of ideas, and Jonathan then did a few different designs from that. When none of those really rang my bell, he tried again, and did so with a sense of delight. "I want you to be happy with this forever," he said. He eventually got things just right. The Cute Girl had a similar experiences when they designed the wedding band around the diamond of the engagement ring. We are both delighted with the results. Both rings (my wedding band and her engagement/wedding rings) are simply beautiful. Side Note #1: you can likely find a ring cheaper online at some huge dealership. But you know what? My ring was made by an old guy who made a wax model, made a cast, and then melted down some platinum, made a ring, and then polished it to a high shine. When I spoke with Rob about this, I very much got the idea that he understood the significance of his work, its enduring nature, and the fact that his time and talent would outlive himself, myself, and my kids (when I have them). Im delighted to pay more for something like that, for in the long run, itll cost me less than a penny a day to something artisanal rather than something made en masse. I think thats pretty special. Side Note #2: When Jonathan came back to TCG and I with the cost of my wedding band in platinum, he also came with the prices of the same ring in different materials (white gold, and some other platinum-based metal). While I thought the price was well within our budget, I appreciated the fact that he was concerned about the cost of things. Side Note #3: They got things done very quickly: with style and panache. They said it would be done on a Friday, and I picked it up on Friday. This was good, for the wedding was on Saturday. In everything they did, the elicited a feeling of confidence in their services. In short, I can recommend the gentlemen at McCoys without any reservation whatsoever. Im delighted to carry a bit of them on my left ring finger.

My first necklace that I owned was purchased at McCoy Jewelers and I have been wearing it for about six years now. When I started the process of choosing an engagement ring I knew that I would get a quality product at this store. Even though I was living in Cedar Rapids at the time I didn’t want to go anywhere except for McCoy Jewelers. At the very beginning all I had to go with were a few pictures that Kylie (future wife) had given me. Jonathan took those pictures and created a masterpiece. He walked me through many steps of the ring process. He created 3D pictures of the ring so that I could see it before it was made. Jonathan was very easy to work with and was always flexible with my day trips from Cedar Rapids to Dubuque. After the engagement Kylie and I came back to the store to create her wedding ring. Even though this was about 6 months after I had purchased the engagement ring Jonathan knew me by name. It made me feel valued as a customer, which is important to me when I am investing my time and money. Jonathan was able to create a ring design that Kylie wanted on his first try. He made a mold of the ring so that Kylie could try it on and see how it would fit with the engagement ring. For the price and quality that McCoy Jewelers offers I don’t know why you would consider going anywhere else. I am sure that you could find jewelry that is slightly cheaper at a large chain jewelry store, but you will not leave with the full confidence that you have a piece of jewelry that will last. They have mastered the art of jewelry and I would recommend this store to anyone.

McCoy Jewelers greatly exceeds the expectations of any jeweler. After purchasing my fiancées engagement/wedding ring set from a "big box jeweler"; I came into McCoys skeptical, due to my experiences elsewhere. At the time of my first visit I knew what I wanted, but I knew that it wasnt a standard request (a platinum band with a diamond roughed finished accented with two rose gold radial inlays). McCoys initial reaction was very supportive. They asked to understand where my idea originated from, then confirmed that it wasnt a standard order, and finally assured me that they would work with CrownRing to submit and communicate/explain my request. Finally, if CrownRing wasnt interested in manufacturing the custom design; they assured me that they would be honored to take on the challenge and build the ring in-house. CrownRing pulled through and built an amazing ring. Throughout the whole experience the staff of McCoy become more like friends than jewelry store staff. My experience was so positive that I immediately thought of McCoy’s when my fiancée needed some help matching up her jewelry to the pearls and stones sewn into her dress. We brought in her necklace as an example of what we were looking for and the earrings that she wanted altered to match. With a little less than two weeks till the big day they took this new challenge as their top priority. Within 3 days they had us a matching set of jewelry that exceeded all expectations. We have definitely made ourselves a new group of friends that have some amazing jewelsmithing skills.

Absolutely fantastic!! Im in love with my ring! My husband had my engagement ring custom made from a different jeweler in another town before we moved, and we ended up getting a wedding band from a box store in the mall...it wasnt a great fit and I was not happy with how it was soldered together. I wanted it redone (and didnt want to go back to that place) with the band/stones I was married with. Every other place we visited wanted me to just buy a completely new ring, credit me the cost of stones in the new one and swap my diamonds in. McCoys the first place where they LISTENED to what I wanted and immediately started offering me suggestions and brainstorming with me on the best way to achieve my vision. They spent a lot of time explaining the process to me, and then emailed me several different computer models of what the new design would look like, and were very patient about taking my thoughts after seeing a design and then modifying until I had exactly what I wanted. They were very up-front about the costs and were very willing to work within my budget. And they were quick!! Once we started the process I couldnt believe I had my "new" ring back in just over a week. Theyve also been very good about following up with me to make sure I still like my ring and offer free, regular inspections and cleanings. My band is everything I wanted and more, I cant say enough good things about it..and even 3 months later I still keep holding my hand up to admire it!!!
