INCREDIBLY RUDE AND UNTRUTHFUL personnel in the grooming salon at this location- we will be driving all the way across town just because of this (I have nothing but good things to say about the Clive store and grooming salon). Weve taken our dog to PetSmart dozens of times for walk in visits, but recently moved and are closer to this location now. Both attempts to take him in here have resulted in nothing happening due to the young lady there saying theres nothing she could do (there was NOBODY in line or in the salon at the time). She looked up his information from his visits to the Clive location and found his records, but said his vaccination records were not up to date. Funny enough, our next attempt we just drove to Clive and brought the records just in case, but they said the ones on file were up to date. Decided to give this location another shot, but tonight the same young lady was there and said that she couldnt look up any information because their computers are not linked and there was nothing she could do for me. It seemed to me that again they just didnt want to do what I requested (also, NOBODY in line or in the salon). I was just frustrated and decided to walk out to the front. I got the cashiers to have the manager come to me, and he informed me that they actually could look the information up (just like I remembered them doing before), but they just prefer to not have walk-ins after 6:30 pm. I expressed to him that I would have much rather been told the truth than be lied to. He didnt say much after that. I think that a proper manager who would have discovered a customer who was just lied to would go above and beyond to correct the situation. If the young lady had told me they were getting ready to close up in 30 minutes, or just been honest and told me she didnt want to actually do her job, I would have been much happier. Now I know that I will NEVER be going back to that location, and I especially dont want someone that dishonest and unwilling to work to be touching my dog. I thoroughly enjoy the passion and attention that my dog gets from PetSmart at the Clive location, and even though I live only a couple of minutes away from the Des Moines one, we will be spending extra time, gas, and giving our business and generous tips to the personnel over there.....probably a reason why the Clive location is jam packed with customers in the salon every time. To conclude, I think that PetSmart is a great company and I will continue to do business with them, but I am absolutely infuriated that I wasted my time and was lied to by employees at the SE 14th location, and will not be returning there.

I have come here a few times and every time their bettas have been sick with a few dead ones sitting at the back of the shelf. We bought one poor one with swim bladder, and just bought another with fin rot. Today I saw multiple woth fin rot and another dead one. Im not sure if they care for their bettas at all. Its really sad to walk in and see the condition theyre all in. We can only buy so many. These little guys and gals need treated. Ive gone to other PetSmarts and havent seen anything near as bad. I understand that its a smaller branch and they might not have much staff, but there is no excuse for selling sick fish. I hope the people buying understand what kind of condition theyre in. Fish are still pets, they need care. Theyre not something you can just shove in a vase or small tank and forget about. Do your research. Help these bettas.

We will never take our dogs back to daycamp and boarding. Both of our dogs have seemed defiant about going in the last few times. Not only do our dogs smell like urine when we pick up but we were just told that they cant take one of our dogs because hes half pit bull. They have had his vet records ever since he was little and we first brought him in. From what we were told through all his paw-gress reports is that all the employees and other dogs loved him. You would hope a company this big would have had it figured out by now. We have found a new place for our dogs and they love it. I recommend you do the same.

Started with a healthy tank that was moderately populated and had tank several years. Purchased six fish all died from ick completely decimating my tank population in the process. Treated and cleaned tank and purchased fish from Walmart and they are still doing well. Bought more fish from petsmart and all died again within two days from ick. Bought a betta and kept it in a separate tank by itself and it died in two days also from ick. Every fish I have purchased at this store has died within days. Obviously there is an issue with the quality of something here.

All of my experiences at PetSmart on the south side of Des Moines have been very pleasant. The staff is very nice, and they are always willing to help me if I need it. They always have what I need in-stock. When I purchase live food for my reptiles, almost every single one is still alive and healthy. The store is kept clean; however, I have not been to other sections of the store - just the reptile and fish aisles. All-in-all, the south-side PetSmart is a good store to go to!!

Made appointment for dog grooming last week for 12:30 today. They called last night to confirm. Entire day planned around this because I live 45 minutes out of town. Get there and they tell me it needs to be rescheduled because a groomer didnt show up this morning. No call no nothing and wasted a lot of time and gas. No one there seemed too concerned even when I told them Id prefer to find someone else instead of reschedule.

Robin in pet care is incredibly rude and disrespectful. I waited 10 minutes for help when the store was empty and then was treated like an inconvenience and was insulted by her. Will be driving all the way out to the store on University to avoid this store.

We have gone multiple times to get our dogs nails trimmed and the grooming department closes early with just a sign on the door. Very upsetting since we drive 15-20 mins to get there. If I go back again I will always call first.

Store good. But not grooming! My friend took her dog here for A toe nail cliping and they pulled her dogs ear cause she wouldnt sit down and made her dog cry. Dont ever bring you lil cute pets to this grooming!

I have used this location for quite some time and will not continue to do so anymore. Its too bad when you have questions but cant find an employee to help. Its frustrating enough to go somewhere else now.

The service is ok, and they have a pretty big inventory. The only thing is they need to compete with online places. I only buy what I need at the moment (such as tooth paste).

Watch out for expired food! I bought my cat food and it was several months expired! I had to drive across town to get it exchanged. Check the labels at this store!
