I drove up to look specifially at a bike I saw on their website. I was approached by a young man who i immediately told, i didnt want a sales pitch, or to be pressured in any way. He respected what i told him, and gave me my space. When I had questions, he answered them. He also took the time to ask me about my current bikes, asked to see pictures and was easy to talk to. I didnt feel like he was a salesman, even though thats exactly what he is. I dont like being followed around, being told how "good you would look on that bike" or any other of the salesman 101 BS. I told him what bike i wanted, what I wanted to spend, what I wanted my payment to be, and what my acceptable interest rate was. Management went to work and met all my terms. Their management team is amazing, they went above and beyond and even gave us a few things we didnt ask for as incentives to purchase the bike. I told them I had to think about it overnight, and we left. Nobody called or texted me asking "what did you decide?" Again they gave me my space and time to think about it. I called 2 days later and told them that we were going to purchase the bike from them, and i drove up to sign the paperwork. Now is where the experience really got good. The bike was there, parked beneath a scoreboard, with "Congratulations Steve" on it for everyone to see. They announced it over the speakers, and every employee in the store walked over, congratulated me and shook my hand. Onto the financing/paperwork team. The girl who took care of me was funny, extremely knowledgeable and easy to talk to. This part as most people know is tedious, nerve racking and almost painful. Signing all those forms, and seeing those dollar signs on paper is the least fun part. However, I was comfortable in her office and we were laughing, talking about other stuff as well, and it wasnt painful at all. She went above and beyond also, and got me a better deal on a few things, and I couldnt be happier. I was then taken to all the departments in the store and introduced to the employees. The girl in merchandise showed me everything, and really had good knowledge about the things in the shop. The guy in the parts department took time to talk to me about his bike, and recommendations for certain things, get out a catalog and look into some possibilities for my bike. I felt like I was at home in my garage talking to one of my buddies. The service department took time to explain everything to me, and gave me a window within a half hour of when my brand new bike would be delivered to Dubuque, which is 100 miles away. They are also delivering the bike at no charge. I had another salesman go over my bike with me, showing me all the features. He didnt treat me like i knew nothing, but also made sure i was informed of EVERYTHING. I learned a couple new things about the bike that i thought i knew everything about. After all of this was finalized, and I signed on the dotted line, it was a done deal. This is right about the time when anywhere else loses all interest in you. They got your money and they move onto the next person. Not here. The salesmen were still coming over and talking to me about my plans for the bike and just guy/shop talk in general. I was stopped on the way out the door and asked about my experience. I think this review says it all. As a person who relies on word of mouth advertising for my business, I just wanted to share my experience. Ive bought new bikes, new cars, and atvs before. Ive never been treated so well by so many people. If you buy a bike anywhere else, youre missing out. Well done guys and gals of Hawkeye Harley Davidson!

Much like Jake here, Ive also had issues with their service before. My bike, a 2007 1200 custom XL was on recall due to an electrical issue. In short, I had issues with the vehicle not starting at all, killing the battery, and so on. When I brought it to their service department the first time, they said there was nothing wrong, that it started fine for them. The second time I brought it to them, they said I left my key "slightly" in the on position, and the battery died as a result to that. They charged me for a new battery. The third time Im forgetting now what they said...but in the end, I vowed personally to myself that I would never go there again. I brought the bike up to Dubuques harley shop (which has no since changed owners, so I dont know their quality now), and they spent weeks on my bike in close contact with people directly from Harley. In the end, they found out the problem, and its now a fairly common one for this model and year of the bike. While I wasnt happy with having to wait near a month to get my bike back, they still did a great job...whereas, the Hawkeye HD did a really poor one. I will, never, ever, do my service work at Hawkeye HD for this reason. The reason why I gave this place 2 stars, instead of 1, is because their selection of items is pretty decent there, if youre into clothing and all. They are also open Sunday (which many Harley shops are closed on), which is a plus sometimes. Ill likely buy a few things from here, but as I was saying...will never have service done there again. This all happened a number of years ago...so maybe things changed by now.

I visited Hawkey HD on a Saturday, about 2 weeks after buying a new HD motorcycle. I had a most pleasant experience and was out the door in approx 2 hours. I had some new mufflers installed, and was supposed to have a tall windshield installed but parts noticed a small defect, and advised that they wanted to return the windshield and reorder another, and ship it to me. This was great - employees wanted me to have the best product and were looking out for my interests. The mechanic servicing my bike was also very courteous and did a great job. And of course my sales person was excellent as we chatted for awhile, and she answered a few more questions that I had about the new bike. Overall I had a great visit...

Everytime we have gone to the old shop all the staff were awesome, yesterday was our first visit to the new shop. The only problem (the owners need to know this) is one of the employees, short, dark haired girl with glasses was talking to another salesperson saying how she was gonna start locking the doors at "10 til" because she was wanting to get out of there. At any rate, allowing the customers hear that she doesnt want the customers in there buying merchandise is out of line. Arent the customers the reason why she is employed in the first place? I had good experience with the other girls at the checkout counter. I am sure that this is an isolated sales person that needs to rethink her employment.

Just had my 1000 mile break-in oil done on my new bike late Monday afternoon! Sean and Chris in service took good care of me! I had a few other items put on while it was there. They put me on a loaner and had my bike done by the next day all detailed and looking great! I have had nothing but great service from all the staff at McGrath, from parts to clothing to the sales staff (Gabe was my salesman on the purchase but all sales staff treat me like I was their sale) to top notch service on it! The staff takes the time to get to know you and your bikes! Thank you all!
