Words cannot describe how long I have been waiting for REI to come to Indiana. I am bubbling over with gratitude!!!!!! This is such a phenomenal store and I would have clawed my eyes out if I had to gaze upon the construction of one more Dicks Sporting Goods store. I ALWAYS support local stores when they are available (such as The Element in Terre Haute, IN). However, REI as a company has such a great business model. I will NEVER set foot again in a box shaped super sporting Goods store called Dicks or Gander Mountain in in the state of Indiana ever again. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR ACKNOWLEDGING INDIANAs EXISTENCE!! I love you guys!!! Love, the Girl who lives in Northernish Indiana (currently...) Mary Fuson-Stearley PS: SERIOUSLY BECOME A COOP MEMBER IT PAYS FOR ITSELF!! PPS: There is a great rogue climbing community in Southern Indiana and even Terre Haute. Go IU!! (After all, the limestone government buildings of Washington DC come from the womb of Indiana herself. There is some lovely little rocks to play on in the good old Bedford area ;) And yes, to make a long post longer I am a Terre Haute native!!)

Bought a backpack and some other hiking essentials at REI and it was a great experience. It mightve been a training day, but it seemed like there were far more employees than necessary. Everyone was very eager and able to help, but I felt overrun at first. Perhaps it has been awhile since Ive bought things in a store. Overall, great experience. I love the company, their rewards for members, the fact that they recycle unwanted/returned gear at their garage sales and that there is one in Indianapolis.

I am strongly displeased with this REIs customer service. I had a service and brake bleed done on my brand new bike, and a pin for the front brake pads was failed to be properly put back. One of my brake pads fell off the next time I rode it. Since I am new to hydraulic disc brakes I continued to ride the bike for the next 2 1/2 months until the piston ruptured. I took the brake back to the store and the manager refused to right the wrong. Go anywhere but here. Its a waste of time and money.

This is my favorite store. Their membership program and return policies are excellent. The customer service is exceptional and they will really take their time to make sure you get the right pair of boots or pack or whatever it is you are looking for. The guys in the bike shop are awesome. I have brought all of my bikes here for one thing or another and they do pretty good work. My only complaint about this location is that their mens clothing section is way too small.

REI is one of the best backcountry stores in Indy. They have a tremendous selection of great gear at great prices. The green-vested staff is very knowledgeable, and will almost always provide great guidance on certain gear based on their own use experiences. Id recommend becoming a member; the benefits absolutely out weigh the $20 it costs for a life-time membership. Youll get a 10% credit back every March based on the amount of money you spend throughout the year!

Not your traditional outdoor store as they focus more on outdoor recreation vs sports or hunting. The brands are all high quality, including the REI branded clothing and products. I find the Mens clothes section to include a wide range of sizes. The staff have always been really helpful. The only part I dont really care for is the pressure of joining the membership, which is a one time $20 fee. The program is a nice perk if you shop here at least twice a year.

Im so happy REI finally came to Indianapolis. We love the store, and we love the folks who work there. The service is great. I had an issue with a Garmin watch, and we had it replaced without any hassle. Plus: weve spent far too much money on the outdoor gear they have. (And become a co-op member if you arent...and you plan on doing lots of outdoor-ing!).

This is the best place to shop for outdoor gear. Prices seem high at first, but not when you take into account the 10% back for being a member ($20 for lifetime membership), regular 20% off member coupons, and 1 year return policy. The store itself is always perfectly organized and the staff is friendly and helpful without being pushy.

In store customer service is good. Saw and bought the product I wanted. Phone customer service is lacking. They always seemed rushed to pawn you off to a department. Example: I just wanted to know if they had local SAR involvement. Before I could ask she said, "what department."

Alisha and Michelle were awesome!!! I cant express how helpful and attentive these 2 were in getting me my items after ordering them online. Their service solidified me buying my outdoor gear from this store from here on out even though I live almost 2 hours away.

Its always worth the 35 minute drive for me, even if all I want to do is look! I love Cabelas too but it seems they cater more towards the hunter. REI has the advantage because they cater to the true outdoor lover.

great store, love their clothing and gear selections. Get the membership, its worth it. One time purchase and you get the dividend at year end. If you shop there a few or more times a year its well worth it.

Enjoyed both my visits to the Castleton REI thus far. Employees are friendly and helpful. Good selection of outdoor equipment. Have a variety of outdoor classes and activities throughout the year.

Typical REI. Clean, organized. Rather overpriced clothing, except for on-sale items. Name brand shoes were priced about average. Very helpful staff.

Best outdoor store in the world. Be sure to be a member for refund at the end of the year.
