I went into this store on Saturday with my father looking to purchase a gun for my husband. The clerk I worked with, Matt was very nice and helpful. We had everything done except Payment. I swiped my debit card and the computer said it approved. At that moment power went out for a couple seconds. My father and I waited for about 30 to 45 minutes to see if they could find my receipt. They could not. The store manager, Ryan came out, obviously already upset from the power outage because his face was red and he was visibly upset. Matt and Ryan both asked for me to look on bank account to see if the payment had come through. I showed both of them that it had. Ryan stated that it didnt matter and he offered to put my gun in the back for me to pick up once they find my receipt. I was taken back as he was stating that I could not leave with the gun that I had proof of purchasing. And as I live over an hour away I stated I would not be back. Ryans face got redder. He raised his voice and said "so if I dont let you leave with a free gun then you wont be back?" I said I already proved to you that I paid for it but you are offering me no receipt or confirmation. No guarantee that I will receive the product that I paid for. My dad offered to buy the gun. Ryan said no. My dad offered to apply for the gun. Ryan said no. He was not compromising in anyway. He stated that he would not let me leave with "the free gun" because I wouldnt come back to pay for it. The only way he would let me leave with my product was to pay for it again. I asked Ryan to write me a note stating he would refund me if two payments come through. Ryan wrote the note and threw it at me. I paid for the gun again and left. I called to check on my refund on Monday and Ryan refused to talk to me. He made his employee, Alex, tell me to call 888 5 gander. I called and spoke with Colton. Content has been so helpful and kind. I truly appreciate his understanding and customer service. I am shocked that Gander Mountain would have a Store Manager that acts like that. I can honestly say I have never had worse customer service and for it to come from a store manager it is shocking. I believe gander mountain is a good store and corporate is great but the choice in store managers in Castleton is a true mistake.

Cabelas.... Thats all im saying its in Hamilton town center but its worth the gas . The selection there is amazing the staff are amazing(well trained will not treat you like they are better than you actually helpful knowledgeable do there job ) The prices are no comparison. Ive fished my whole life over the past few years before my father passed using your store for gear tackle etc. Ive just recently developed interest in hunting I will shop cabelas for all gear and firearms and tackle . After almost 45 mins of being helped once then having to wait again and listen to jordans life story to another customer and his staff person that was helping him.... About hes a correction officer and him going to isp next year purdue etc... But the funny thing was the guy he was telling it to didnt want no part of the conversation he looked at me like they were crazy because they were trying to sell him extras and some credit card the team the ended the conversation with just give the man what he wants. At that time I proceeded to the door. tell you what the little girl at the door sells some mean cookies even though she dosnt work there (girl scout) all of the employees there could take a lesson out of her book. Atleast be friendly wwe are the the customer im bringing my money to you I wasnt being mean?

I have made multiple purchases from the store within the last three years. I will not deny that at times their service can be quite slow, especially in the firearms department, but that can happen anywhere where there is a large selection of firearms to be made with a limited number of staff. I have always been very satisfied with the level of customer service that I have been offered and very satisfied with the courteousness of the staff members. Most recently, I purchased a Carbon Express crossbow and determined upon my return home that there were pieces missing. I called the store, and spoke to the manager, and they told me to return it and they would be able to offer me an alternative. Once I arrived at the store, they went through multiple options that were available to me in their inventory, and gave me a good deal on an upgrade, which was a Barnett Ghost 360, as to what I had originally purchased. A week later the same crossbow I purchased was on sale on Gander Mountains website, I returned to the store and they refunded me the difference between the purchase price and the sale price, no questions asked. overall, there may be a few things that I dislike, but I like the store and recommend it to anyone needing anything for the outdoors.

very poor customer service, dropped of crossbow on 9/11, to get a new string, said it would be a week, called back in a week, said it would be 2. Went in today 9/23 to ask about no one back there in archery or firearms and store just opened at 9, I was second customer in store. Gentlemen said he really had no idea when it would come in they now come from corporate with no way to track or no when they might get it. I told him I would call around bc this is way to long of a wait for a crossbow string two weeks before bow season. I called another business, they said they could do it today. I asked my wife to go pick up the cross bow. After waiting around 20 minutes, they said they cant give her my crossbow bc she didnt drop it off. Poor customer service again, she has a valid drivers lic showing who she was and the bow is not functional with a broken string. It is not a fire arm and you do not need a permit or a waiting period to buy or purchase or even carry a cross bow around. This used to be a great store with great service. We have purchase a lot of items over the years and attended hunter safety courses with my kids. It is to bad they have lost focus on what is important to maintain customers at this location.

I visited the Castleton store (Indiana) to purchase a gun. As a first time gun owner, I had many questions. Plus, I am very analytical when making purchases, especially for something on which I am not knowledgeable. The firearms specialist named Mitchell assisted me. He was very patient and happily answered all of my questions as well as providing me additional info which I would have not known to ask. And very importantly, he never tried to "sell" me anything. In addition, he showed me 2 other guns in besides the specific gun I had planned to buy from my on-line research. Both of the guns that Mitchell showed me were priced lower than the gun I had planned to buy. At the gun range, 3 employees all said the gun that I purchased (that Mitchell recommended) was a fine choice and a quality gun. A few days later while I was looking for a few supplies, Mitchell was in the store on his day off. He recognized me and offered to help me find the items I was seeking. He truly provides customer service and assistance.
