A friend and I went into KTK (Lakemoor) about a month ago. The selection is incredible - by far the best in the area. The prices are reasonable as well. The service, on the other hand, was lacking at best. The girl working that day behaved as if she had been out too late the night/morning before - she treated us as more of a nuisance than as appreciated customers. As we browsed the humidor, I noticed that some higher end Rocky Patel cigars had mold on them. Ive smoked cigars long enough to know the difference between mold and plume - this was definitely mold. I brought this to her attention, and her response was essentially that mold on a cigar was nothing to be concerned about. Clearly she had no idea what she was talking about, and her tone with me was again one of annoyance. At any rate, I passed on the moldy RPs and made my selections. Upon checkout, I hand the girl my AmEx. Her response was a snooty, "I dont take American Express." Yet again, Im not sure took the gem out of this girls donut, but she was definitely taking her bad day out on me and my friend. If there were a similarly stocked place in the area, Id absolutely shop the other place on principle alone. The fact that such a poor employee was allowed to run the store alone speaks to a lax management style. Luckily Im downtown enough to not have to deal with this substandard service. Id much rather pay Cook County taxes and get quality service from the people at Iwan Ries (IRs selection is every bit as good, as well). Had the service even been decent, I would have given a better score for Appeal. However, making a trip to the cigar store is a process in and of itself. Part of the appeal is being able to enjoy the service received and speak to the employees about the products. Im sure Ill shop here again b/c I have a better mind-set now about what to expect from the service. But Ill only shop there on an as-needed basis, like when Im too pressed for time to get downtown.

Kenny has the biggest humidor around and the selection is great. Ive never had a bad experience there and Ive been buying from him for years. Ive never been a regular cigar smoker but I know my sticks and I smoke about 20 a year. I have no reason to shop online so I always go straight to Kennys. Ive been to every other cigar store around. I travel a lot locally for work and have always tried the nearest spots to see what they have. None compare. So as I check his hours to see if I have time to go grab a heater for me and my pastor, I thought Id leave Kenny a good word. You wont regret buying from the King.

Great selection but a sign on the walk in humidor states that you are required to purchase $25 worth of cigars in order to use the lounge, which is basically a basement with chairs and a tv...I understand about buying cigars from the shop where you smoke them...that is a cardinal rule of any tobacconist...but requiring a certain dollar amount is ridiculous... Plus when you enter the humidor, you are followed everywhere while looking....Kenny himself admitted that he doesnt even smoke cigars.

Kenny is the KING. Best cigar selection in Lake or McHenry Counties. Walk-in humidor is amazing. Has a very nice selection of high end scotch as well. Very knowledgeable and is kind, courteous and informative to novice and seasoned cigar smokers alike.

THANKS PARTH BECAUSE OF YOU I WAS VISITED THIS STORE. THEY HAVE WIDE RANGE OF CIGAR COLLECTION. I SIMPLY LOVE THIS STORE AND KENNY. I THINK ITS MOST LARGEST HUMIDOOR IN ILLINOIS. YOU SHOULD VISIT AT LEAST ONCE. U MOST PROBABLY LIKE IT.

Great selection!!! they have a lot of hard to find cigars,plenty of cutter,ashtrays and shirts!!! By far the best cigar shop around!! Everytime im in island lake, im make a "quick" stop here. The best !!!

Selection was great however help was rude. Wanted cash, was upset when I used my Mastercard, never said thank you or anything. Just threw the cigars back on the counter. Wont be back.

Kenny has a great walk in humidor, but the guy wont leave you alone. He talks and talks and talks. Pushes you to buy everything he can sell. But never any deals.
